Hosts who are charming, accomodating and helpful, rooms that are large and distinctive, a great location, satisfying breakfast and nothing to complain about.

The Blue Room was the largest of the rooms offered at La Romea. It was listed as a quad room,, but this is only true if you are traveling with your kids. They will bring in a couple of twin beds. Our problem was...we were two couples and made the stay a bit crowded. Other than that, this was an excellent B&B. The Blue Room was very large as was the unique bathroom. The breakfast was the best of our 13 day trip to Italy. The biggest problem with Lucca is parking. You cannot park within the actually city walls...so it's a hassle to drive to their B & B ...drop off the luggage and find a place to park many minutes from the lodging. I would say the process of check in (when dealing with the parking) was about an hour. But don't hold that against La Romea. That would be the case with any stay within the historic city center. Once you are in and situated...it's a great city to visit. The La Romea was an excellent stay.

We were very pleased with our accomodation and with the walled city of Lucca. Giulio and Gaia were excellent hosts and the breakfasts included eggs done the way we wished, fresh fruit salad, yogurt, tomatoes and basil, cheese, ham and a variety of breads and toasts. They were the best breakfasts we had on our holiday. The room was clean and the bathroom large, clean and well stocked with shampoos, soap etc. Giulio and Gaia were most helpful with directions, making restaurant reservations, checking on bus schedules and calling for a taxi on our departure. We have nothing but positive experiences and comments about La Romea in Lucca.

All of us thought the breakfasts were the best we have had anywhere, and the hosts could not have been more welcoming. Would definitely go back there and recommend to friends.

We had a fabulous family reunion here. The host and hostess were very accomodating, even when we showed up needing an extra cot. Breakfast buffet was bountiful. The fresh fruit was beautiful. Loved the shower floor of bumpy rocks in the red room.

La Romea was an ideal place to stay in Lucca. We were directly in the center of the walled city, within a 10 minute walk of everything. The innkeepers were absolutely wonderful. They helped us recover lost luggage, provided us with a great breakfast every day, and assisted us with our sightseeing plans. Our room (the suite) exceeded our expectations. It was perfect for us and our two children. We would absolutely return. Advice: Enjoy Lucca! Plan on spending at least a few days there.

It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel. We were made extreemly welcome by the owners who put themselves out to help us. They picked us up within 5 minutes of calling for the parking. Beautiful rooms and excellent breakfast. Central within 15 minutes walk of anywhere in Lucca. You could not wish for a better place and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Would return anytime

It started with the host showing up within 3 minutes, not the 5 promised to pick us up from the parking. Every other aspect of our stay exceeded expectations also. Lucca and La Romea was our favorite part of our vacation, because of the lovliness of the place and the graciousness of the host and hostess. It was such a contrast from the subsequent hotels that we stayed in. We loved it! Larry, Lysa, and Jessica Ayres

I had reservations about booking on the internet but this place was beautiful. The host and his family were very inviting and helpful. The area was right in the middle of walled Lucca and very close to many great resturants. Overall if we go to Lucca again we will make it a point to stay there. I highly reccomend this B&B, good luck.

This is a lovely, lovely B&B with wonderful hosts for whom nothing is too much trouble. The location is also superb, right in the middle of Lucca. The only reason I won't say any more is because if this hotel becomes as popular as it deserves to be, we won't be able to book in next time we return!

As a couple not new to Italy but new to Lucca we were really delighted with the quality and service provided by Giulio and Gaia (proprietors)in this central location. The feel is that of a "family home", without the intrusiveness. The accomodation is both spacious and authentic. It is an ideal place to stay to explore Lucca. We woud personally recommend it to family and friends without hesitation, and will be back.

This hotel is very well positioned for sightseeing, and the owners do their utmost to make your stay a good one. The B&B nature (few guests) of the place (e.g. breakfast time) might not be for everyone, though the breakfasts themselves are wonderful!

Very nice informal hotel at an A location in the centre of Lucca. We were picked up from and brought to a parking outside the walls, good service. Nicely decorated rooms. A bath would have been nice for that price of 135 euro though, but it was a big room.

I was impressed by the photographs featured on the website, but when we arrived they didn't do the hotel justice, it was even better than i could have imagined. My girlfriend fell in love with Lucca and the hotel. We will be going back.

La Romea was one of the nicest places we stayed in during 6 weeks in Italy. Guilio and Gaia were extremely friendly and helpful while we were there and also in our e-mails. They made dinner suggestions and reservations for us as well getting bus schedules and any other information we needed. The room and bath were huge and the whole place was beautifully decorated by Gaia. It was very well located within the old city walls and close to all the sights. I would stay there again. Request the red suite if you want something really special. All the rooms we saw were great.

Our stay at La Romea was just wonderful. Giulio and Gaia were very helpful and informative. Giulio actually met our car loaded our luggage into his and showed us where to park. They were excellent hosts and we had the best breakfast in the two weeks we spent in Italy. Our location was just perfect b/c we were right next to Via Fillungo and the center of Lucca. I would certainly return to La Romea if I go back to Lucca.

How to reach La Romea Residenza d'Epoca
La Romea is in the heart of the historic centre of Lucca, where it is not
possible circulating everywhere and parking right here.
In general we suggest our guests a parking that is about 400 mt. far
from La Romea but for check-in and check-out we bring our guests there (
with our car ) to help you with the luggage. The cost is 8 euro for 24
hours a day: during the day there is a watcher and the night the gate is
closed but we have a clicker to give to you, if you desire to go outside
the citywalls.
Please, the important is that you will advise about the time of your
arrival during your journey or once in Lucca. This is why we may arrange
a meeting point in S.MARIA SQUARE . ( It is a place easy to reach for
both ).
How to reach S.MARIA SQUARE:
When you are out of the motorway you must follow the indication for
"centro".
Once at the citywalls you must drive keeping the walls on your right.
You will meet Porta S.Anna but do not enter through that gate.
( in Lucca there are 6 PORTE=GATES but each one leads to different areas
of the historic centre ).
You will then meet Porta S.Donato: there is a trafic light, you must go
straight ahead ( not right ).
Continue on driving and the next gate will be PORTA S.MARIA.
Enter through this gate and you will arrive in S.MARIA SQUARE.
There is a Tourist Information. You stop in front of it. You call us that
we will arrive to meet you with our car. So we go at the parking (it is
close ) and after we reach La Romea together.
It is more complicate to write than to do it! We suggest it to make your
arrival the easiest. In fact there are too many narrow streets and it is
not difficult to get lost , also because in the historic centre there are
not hotel indications.
