The owner greeted us and showed us the room. Everything was good, but the room had a lot of noise until quite late at night. The room faced the street and there are a few bars that had patrons spilling into the street all night with music, drinking, yelling, scooters, etc. This is not the owner's problem, just unfortunate as we were extremely tired. The room was very nice though & we LOVED LUCCA!

Unfortunately, we did not get to meet the owner as we arrived very late from Florence. The owner's son was very gracious and welcomed us warmly. He made us feel very much at home. He gave us great info about Lucca and the surrounding area. I have read posts that the owner actually prepares your breakfast and delivers it to the room! Very cool. Sadly, we weren't able to take advantage as we had to leave before breakfast time. The only slight negative would be the street noise - and that is not the fault of Le Violette. I didn't have any trouble sleeping tho'. If you 'do' Italy right, you should be so tired at day's end that sleep is not a problem. We would definitely stay at this B&B again. The price was great, the rooms were clean and spacious, the host is very nice and it's close to the train station.

We stayed two nights and enjoyed the B & B very much. We arrived by train to Lucca and the hotel is very easy to find. Lucca is a very confusing town to walk around in and some other travellers had a hard time finding their hotel. The rooms were clean and although we shared the bathrooms with other guests we hardly ever saw anyone else. Breakfast was just bread and jam, juice and a hot drink, but the cappuccino was a good big cup. We felt the value was good for 55 Euros per night.

Close to the train and easy to find. Quite noisy until about 2 am most nights - probably we heard more than other guests as we stayed on the street side. The owner is onsite in the mornings and she is fantastic to deal with and very generous. However, the afternoon staff was not that helpful. Be sure you arrive before 12 pm or between 3 and 6 pm (approximately). Any time other than that, guests must contact the owner at her home and there is a phone number posted on the outside of the building guests can call if they have access to a phone.

Excellent location, right in the centre of the old city, but the building smelt old and musty. Our room was ok but the "private" bathroom we had booked was at the end of the corridor and there was a mix-up over which bathroom was ours. The breakfast was the worst I have ever had, consisting of pre-packed toasts and croissants, bread which tasted of plastic and awful coffee. The kitchen was useful for making tea and could have been used for making light meals but it was full of damp towels.

We had 3 rooms reserved, of which one had an aircondition, but still same high price for the other two. I persume because of the soccer games. Breakfast, forget it!! We tried to pay by VISA Card, Lady said OK when we checked in, but when we tried to check out, it was not possible anymore cause the Lady of the house was not there. Dead Cockroaches on the stairs. Close encounter with the washing machine. Dirty Kitchen. Not funny at all!! We can definately not recommend it!!

A pleasant hotel kept very clean despite being an older building. Staff were friendly and helpful. Although near the road and shops, the room was very quiet. Having a washing machine was a real bonus.

This place was a dump, and compared to the prices charged, quite a scam. Online pictures were deceptive. "Kitchen" was dirty and horribly cluttered (owner's service kitchen). The available washer/dryer was by fee, a bit more than you would pay at a laundry, and a bit of a memory game as far as instructions for using. Breakfast in rooms was inconvenient, as there was no place in the room to sit but on the bed. Bathroom was squeezed into a box smaller than physically possible with no mirror or shelf to place personal toiletries (e.g. toothbrush) Everything in room was covered in construction dust (renovations inside building at bottom of stairs and directly across street). Room was on main drive out of town center to adjacent city gate... traffic noise and late night revelers ALL NIGHT. We had reserved for a week but left after one night.

We really enjoyed our stay at Le Violette Bed and Breakfast. The room was very spacious and clean and Anna was very friendly and accomodating. We were excited about the use of kitchen facilities and to our surprise there was a clothes washer and dryer available for use as well. Would definitely stay here again. The price was right and the service was excellent!

There were no public areas-no breakfast room- we feel this should have been mentioned. The breakfast was adequate and good value, considering the cheap price. but the description of it was 'over the top'.The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Very good and cheap place to stay in. Right in the centre of Lucca, in an ancient building. A very kind and sweet Lady wellcomes and brings the breakfast in the room every morning at the requested time! Some room windows are on a motorbike parking... Those rooms can be noisy until 11 / 12 pm.

If arriving late ie. last flight from Ryanair, (taxi from Pisa to Lucca can cost 45-50€ so find someone to share with you)make sure you have some small change for the telephone kiosk down the road in case owners are not there when you arrive, they will then come 10 mins later. The room was clean, a bit old fashioned but fitting for Lucca. The kitchen may be used. Bathrooms although shared were very clean.Breakfast was OK, nothing special. The owners can help with general questions eg car hire.Usual noise from evenings till 11:30 and mornings from 8 am (kids going to school, scooters & general traffic.

Main problem for us was the quite noisy street around the corner, lots of motorbikes.... In general the location is OK, next to the City Wall where strolling around is nice. As well, the Pedestrian area is within 5 minutes walk, small shops for food right next to the house, very conveniant.

Super hostess. For newcomers to Italy she made us most welcome and helpful. During our holiday i doubt that anyone else was as friendly or as pleasant. Lucca is a bustling, sometimes noisy, town at night. High summer with windows open allowed the noise of scooters to come in. Couldn't be helped though and should be expected. Toilets, bathrooms were excellent and kept very clean.Could do with a few "occasional tables" for eating breakfast, perhaps. Edward Payne

We stayed at Le Violette for two nights, and we had a big double-room with a nice, big bed. Our room and the public areas (bathroom, hall, kitchen) were clean and allright. When we arrived, we had to call the owners to lock us in (the phone-number was written on a sign by the door) and then we got our own key. When we were leaving we could leave our bags in the hall until our train left. Le Violette is a nice place to stay if you want to visit Lucca.

Only thing is I wasnt sure how much we still owed Anna after paying our deposit. We really enjoyed our stay. Was nice in a way to have no one around but also seemed a little strange. Hope the front door is ok! thanks to Anna.

We enjoyed everything about the facility however I would never stay there again simply because of the vespas/ motorcycles buzzing right by our room until 2 in the morning. We stayed there on a weekend so I hope it's not like that on a week night but they were so loud and obnoxious, we could not sleep. The hotel is situated near the outside wall of the city and they must have been racing up and down our street and the noise was constant for at least 4 hours. I can't believe there isn't some noise ordinance against these things. I feel sorry for Le Violette since they were such an accomodating facility otherwise, I hope there is something the citizens of Lucca can do about this problem.
