B&B Le Giare - Lucca

It was a pleasure staying at B & B Le Giare. The room was spacious and clean, the garden area was lovely to spend time in, but most of all the host, Massimo, was very warm, helpful and generous. We were treated like old friends and that was lovely. The only downside is the location as it is too far to walk into the old town of town of Lucca, so recommend to have a car.

Had a great stay at Le Giare! Hotel is beautifully clean and closely looked after by a helpful, friendly family - they will answer any and all questions and give directions and even draw out a map for you - wonderful!! Spacious room, beautiful private bath and A/C if you need it. Pretty property, easy parking, very nice breakfast and oh! the hot chocolate, the best!!! We were so pleased with Le Giare and would definitely go back again. Also, a quick - few minutes to center of Lucca. A great location for day trips to the sea, Pisa, Vinci, and on and on. Very welcoming family run business. My traveling partner and I were very tired when we arrived and asked somewhere to eat close by and Mama whipped us up a delicious pasta with a meat ragu,rolls, fresh fruit salad and a local wine. It was just what the doctor ordered. I felt as if I were staying with family.

We spent six nights in mid June 09 at this family run quality B&B. Massimo, the son was there in the evenings and Claudia the daughter was there in the mornings. Both were most informative, helpful and obliging, even to the extent of recommending and booking reservations at restaurants and arranging taxis on several evenings. They were interested to ensure that we got the best out of our visit to the area. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean, with good size en-suite, and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent, with great coffee, good fruit selection and wonderful eggs, expertly cooked by their father, who with the mother, also kept solicitous eyes on things. Breakfast was in the private and very pleasant garden, which was also a very relaxing place in the evenings. While the walk into town was about 1 km, the road did not have a continuous footpath, but it did have a frequent bus service which took ony a few minutes. Overall, this was a most enjoyable experience, highly recommended.

This is a famiy-run B&B, and the entire family pitches in. The elderly couple who lives on the property are extremely friendly, sweet, and can't do enough to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I just wish we spoke Italian so that we could converse with them. The adult children speak English, and are the ones giving guests sightseeing tips, suggestions where to go, etc. This is perhaps one of the cleanest B&B we've been to; the room and bathroom were immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable. There is plenty of storage in the room. The rooms are very large, by European standards! Getting there is a little tricky, Via Romana has several cross streets. Here is my tip: once you've cross Via Romana "Traverse 5," look for Le Giare to your right. You need to pull up to the big gate, get out of your car, and ring the doorbell. Safe parking is available inside the property. The B&B is located 1 kilometer from the walled city of Lucca. Free wireless internet in the rooms! Breakfast was lovely and generous. Highly recommend it!

The owners couldnt have been more welcoming or helpful!! Not the easiest walk into Lucca but I enjoy watching the Italian drivers!! Would make a good base to visit the attractions in the region.

A most enjoyable start to our holiday in Italy. On a main road into Lucca, but private and quite. Beautifully clean room and en-suit.Very welcoming and helpful family. Excellent breakfast.It is a bit of a walk into Lucca, but we did it 3 times. Useful to have a car - they supplied an automatic gate opener.All their restaurant recommendations were spot on.

Excellent B&B. Pity you have to drive and can't walk to the old city gate as the outside road is too dangerous.

It's a very beuatiful place, so quite. the managers is very kindly and friendly. i think it's better to have a car (not necessary).the bedroom is confortable and very clean.everything is new! good journey!
