Bed and Breakfast Il Seminario - Lucca

Loved Lucca, loved Il Seminario. Large clean room, nicely situated between train station and center of Lucca. We walked everywhere from the B&B, very convenient! Friendly host.

The location is good. It is also close to the station. The staff provides excellent service. They booked transportation and tickets for an opera for us on short notice. The breakfast is very good. The room is clean and spacious. The interior is very nicely decorated.

I was travelling around Tuscany for almost 2 weeks, staying at 7 different places on the whole and Il Seminario won the competition in every possible category. The rooms were spacious, modern and well-equipped, the stuff was very friendly and helpful (with an excellent English), the breakfast wonderful and Lucca itself definitely worth seeing!

Unfortunately my family and I only got to stay for one night in the fantastic town of Lucca. Our room at Il Seminario was large and spotlessly clean. The staff were welcoming and when we checked in the guy was really helpful in pointing out on a map where we were situated and a few good restaurants. The trattoria di Leo was our restaurant of choice in the end. And a what a good choice. It was excellent and good value for money. Very traditional and packed to the rafters - if you can, I would book. The staff were amazingly lovely too. All in all - we had a fanstastic stay in Lucca - if there was to be any negatives I would say that the beds could have been a bit more comfortable and the rooms are perhaps a little dated/traditional. Something else to be aware of is that there are quite a few stairs, so if you do have heavy luggage or any mobility problems, just be careful. Again, when we checked in the guy on the desk kindly helped my husband lug our cases upstairs. However, that is being picky - overall the stay was great and with free parking thrown in - not a bad thing when you realise what is can cost you elsewhere. As a town Lucca is defintely worth a visit - especially in you enjoy wandering round beautiful shops in a relaxed way - surrounded by stunning buildings and churches. It made shopping easy. I am sure that there are many more historic things to do as well, but with 2 kids in the heat we just wandered around. I cannot wait to go back.

Those guys were really cool. We had a really excellent service from very open mind staff always available for last minute arrangments and really caring for customers needings. B&B in the core of city center makes your stay easyer than ever. Thanks a lot.

I can't say enough good things about B&B Il Seminario! Paolo (and staff Rossana) was extremely helpful and hospitable during our recent stay there. The location was quiet, a short easy walk from the train station and honestly, was our favorite lodging of all that we stayed at during our two weeks in Tuscany. The property was beautifully fresh and clean (and there were no signs of "air freshener" smells, as was commented by another traveler) and we felt so comfortable and welcome there. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful and Rossana happily serves fresh coffee or tea to your table. Paolo provided a map of beautiful Lucca, offered great suggestions for dining, helped with travel plans and even offered guests the use of umbrellas as was needed and appreciated on a rainy evening. He also gave us his cell number if we had questions while out exploring the city and was always available to us. Overall this was a wonderful property and I highly recommend it to others.

This B&B exceeded my expectations with an enormous, suite-like room. It would have been perfect, except for one thing. There was an overpowering odour of "air freshner" that persisted for most of my 2-day stay, even with the windows open. I would NOT recommend this lovely property to anybody with environmental sensitivities (Suggest Venere add "scent neutral" as a category under Property Characteristics, as noxious scents from air freshners/cleaning products was an issue at other locations.). Otherwise, Il Seminario is a delightful place to stay. Paolo was really helpful in arranging an early-morning taxi: told me to ring him if my crack-of-dawn cab did not show up.
