Via Vecchia San Marco Corte Pampalone 443 - Lucca
877-662-6988The Bed & Breakfast Corte di Re Artù is situated in Lucca, only 300 meters from the historical walls of this beautiful Tuscan city. The city center can be easily reached in 5 minutes by bicycle, crossing the Porta San Jacopo.
It is housed in an exclusive court dating back to the 19th century, tastefully restored maintaining all its original details, such as stone walls, Tuscan terracotta floors and wooden beam ceilings.

This was our first visit to Lucca and we stayed for two and a half days, including one to visit some of the wonderful villas and gardens nearby. The Corte de Ri Artu was a fine B&B about 5 city blocks outside the walls. We were not alone in having a hard time finding it as the directions need to be clearer. Unfortunately, a building is being constructed on the garden side, so that we were looking directly at a large crane. The breakfast was okay but some fresh fruit would have been nice. There is a fun Saturday flea market at the nearest gate into the city. We were amused by the furnishings which are truly unique. You cannot park at the B&B but there is free public parking available one block away.

On arriva at 4.30 pm no member of staff in the hotel. Further no member of staff seen until the following morning at 8.40 am. No staff to serve breakfast. No staff to answer enquiries. This place is an absolute joke. Avoid it at all costs. Giant building site just 10 mtrs away. I expect a refund I want this communication acknowledged by return.

This was the quietest place we stayed in Italy. Very pleasant indeed, and the best coffee of any hotel we encountered.

A real surprise when we were shown to our room - magical and a real pleasure to stay in such unusual and well presented surroundings. If you want a room just a short walk from Lucca centre then this place is way better than your average hotel or B and B. Thoroughly recommended.

That was the most unusual reception of our trip. There was a letter in the front door with indication of where the key was !!! We didn't found no one inside of the hotel. We were scared because of the security. We never saw that before. The hotel was small, but clean and with an exotic decoration. The street was full of water and very dirty. At night we heard all the people of the next floor walking and taking. At least one thing was great - we had a wonderfull dinner at a restaurant near called Il Botini .. or something like that.

Our 9 year old son, especially enjoyed the "King Arthur" theme. Directions were a bit challenging with the tiny map on website. Good location and a good value.

Breakfast was very basic, but plentiful. The space between the toilet & shower screen was very limiting. Excellent decor throughout. Private parking very limited.

We stayed in the Lancelot room. My only real complaint is the size of the room. Fortunately we didn't need the room to lounge only to recharge and sleep. I wouldn't recommend staying with kids. The shower is tiny too. The staff is very friendly and helpful when present. Overall the price is consistent with what you get.

A nice little hotel under the Tuscan sun. Spacious and clean rooms, a friendly staff, a great restaurant (with reasonable prices) and a beautiful garden with a pool made our stay a wonderful experience. Thanks a lot!

Personale gentile. Posto ben caratterizzato.

The B&B is closely located to the walls of the city. The room was charming and clean. Very little English spoken. The bed was pretty awful - needs a new mattress. We had the room off the coffee machine and main desk, so not very quiet during the day. Breakfast was packaged foods with fresh yogurt. Coffee was good.

We were very pleased with Corte di Re Artu. I believe we arrived a little later than expected and may have been holding up the staff which is why the lower score of 6 was given on 'Welcoming'. Seemed just a bit rushed to leave. It is a quick walk (10 minutes) to the gates of Lucca but there didn't seem to be much directly around the B&B. Again, that's the reason for the lower score. Don't let that deter you from visiting as Lucca is well worth it and overall Corte di Re Artu is also well worth the visit! We were there for two nights (June 11/12, 2007) and stayed in the "King Arthur" room. I highly recommend renting a couple bikes to ride around the top of the wall and for navigating the village streets. There is a tiny bike shop just inside the nearest city wall entrance from the B&B. Two hours is plenty of time for an exploratory ride and at 2.50 Euro per hour per bike well worth the money. Also, recommended for dinner is Tratorria da Leo located near Piazza San Michele. Side note to the stay: We had a car while visiting for our two days (another reason to choose Corte di Re Artu as they have parking available on site). One of our days was spent driving to Pisa (visit the Campo di Miracoli!)and also to Volterra. Have fun! Ciao!

We were worried that it would be a long walk into town, there were so many conflicting comments in the reviews! But we made it to the city walls in under 10 mins, and another 10 to get right into the centre, so it wasn't bad at all, except, of course, after a day's sightseeing! The B&B was clean and comfortable and as good or better than many 3* hotels we've stayed in. Breakfast cappuccinos were great, wide variety of cakes etc for breakfast though mainly packaged so not so tasty. Made a very good base for visiting the area.

Excellent! I would always stay here again because Chiara, the manager, makes it warm, comfortable, fun, pleasant. CHIARA, the manager, is five-star. The rooms are flawless, and price is reasonable. Clean, spacious, comfortable, pretty, with a medieval theme that is fun. The breakfast is very good, especially Chiara's cappucinos. It's in a quiet location that is a pleasant two block walk from the city walls, and then a nice walk or bike ride into town. Chiara helped us with our wedding and trip details. We were a group of ten and all fell in love with her--such a fun spirit and kindness. WE LOVED OUR STAY AND MISSED THE PLACE WHEN WE LEFT!

Staff were friendly and helpful but the information as to its proximity to the city walls was incorrect. At the time of booking the map indicated that we were inside the walls of the city. The walk in and out of the city became tiresome but would have been okay if bicycles were offered.

We stayed in suite #6 which was very clean, private, and enjoyable. The hotel is a little difficult to find if you're travelling on foot with luggage. The Manager (Chiara) was very welcoming and accomodating to our group and showed a lot of flexibility for last-minute requests.

The location indicated on the Venere site at the time of booking was completely inaccurate, showing the hotel as in central Lucca when it is a good 20 minute walk outside the walls. The site did not show that there is no lift and you must carry your own luggage to your room. This is a charming little hotel but more suited to a short stopover.

I was highly impressed by Corte di Re Artu! The room was perfect for me, as a single traveller. Very clean, excellent bed and nice bathroom. The location, just outside of the city walls was perfect, only a short stroll to the gates. The inclusive breakfast was great for the price and the staff were fantastic. Thank you very much - you made my stay in Lucca very enjoyable and I will definately be staying with you again!!!

We had a nice stay at the hotel. It was much better than we expected!!The room was so spacious and cute, decorated liked the old castle. The bathroom was big while there was also the bathtub outside in the bedroom for romantic moment. We took a lot of pictures as if it was tourist spot. Even though it was not in the old town wall, but we could walk there within 5 mins. The only downside is limited parking in front of the hotel. But it was not that bad since we can park nearby safely.Oh...only things that needed to be corrected is the map. The hotel is not in the townwall while it was in townwall in venere map.

The place was exactly like the web page - but NOT in the place that the VENERE map indicated. The B&B brochure (which we did not have) shows the correct location. Everything about the B&B itself was very nice.
