Our stay here was fantastic. The location was spot on and although they are located close to a bar, this could be a problem with noise if you let it. The place is in the heart of Lucca so one must expect people movment. If you don't like it, stay somewhere else away from all the main activities. Breakfast was great served by the same bar as the nightclub. Great eating places all around. The train station isn't that far you can't walk but that will depend on your fitness and luggage. This was a great place to stay for atmosphere and would stay again.

This was our first time at Centro Storico. We booked it because it was the cheapest! But we were really happy with it! The location is fantastic as it is totally central to everywhere. I saw before we booked it that some people complained about noise, but we were fine, and our window was right onto the street. Ofcourse you hear a bit of chatter, but it all adds to the Italian experience! For anyone that goes to Lucca, as MUST do is to hire a couple of bicycles and cycle round the city walls. It is the most relaxing and beautiful thing to do!

Certainly the best value of our trip to Italy. The hotel is nicely located near Piazza S. Michele and close to a lot of restaurants and sights. Lucca is a friendly and very under rated town that more people should add to their vacation itinerary.

Centro Storico is conveniently located in the centre of Lucca in an old building. The room was beautifully decorated however it was quite noisy at night because of the bar opposite. I arrived at 1pm and the door and reception was closed and so I had to wait until someone came back from lunch.

This was a good deal for the money, though be away there is a bar right on the corner, and if you are there during the weekend, it is reaaaally loud, with everyone out on the street and music going very late.. We also did not receive any towels for some reason. Reception was pretty must nonexistent. The location was wonderful as far as it being smack in the middle of everything. Price was great.

The hotel has an excellent location. The room is beautiful and has large space. But the bathroom is very small and it has a water bomb that turns on every time we use the water and that makes a big noise inside the room. The bar in front of the hotel makes some noise too. And we "lost" a pair of handmade socket and a towel after a hotel cleaning service. It is not a bad option, but we had some bad experiences.

We stayed here for the 2nd time. Excellent value and location, but we marked it down slightly as for the 2nd time, the promised breakfast on the morning we left (which was a holiday so the cafe where it is normally served was closed and it was to be served to our room) did not materialise by 8.00 a.m.as no staff had arrived. It's clean, quietens in the street by 11.00p.m.ish and it's VERY central. We'd stay again.

Good central location. Immaculate large room. Immaculate shared bathroom. Helpful and kind staff. Best price we could find, and, given that it was the best price to be found, the facilities were better and nicer than expected. Others have mentioned outside noise. Once our windows were closed, the noise level was acceptable. For those for whom any urban noise is unacceptable, perhaps an agri-tourismo well outside of town would be a better choice. Lucca is a tight and densely populated town, and urban noise is to be expected.

exellent position. a bit noisy in the evening because of a pub in front of it. during our stay, the bar was closed and we had breakfast served in the room, but it was really disappointing. and you hear every little noise from the other rooms. the rest is ok: on the whole, a very good accomodation.

A good B&B. The only drawback is the bar across the road but that closes down at a reasonable time. Breakfast is across in the bar next morning and it was OK. By the time we got to Lucca we knew what to expect. We were comfortable and would use it again. The directions to the property are a little difficult to follow. Head for the main church and the property is to your left when looking at the church.

The breakfast was just acceptable because we was a bit disappointed over that we could only have 1 cup of coffee and 1 piece of bread. If we have more than that we should therefor pay for the extra coffee/bread. Speciel because we have read from another family there had visit the hotel earlier how fine the breakfast was and the it was served in the room. But general the breakfast was under these circumstance fairly good

We stayed for 5 nights in a clean spacious double room but with tiny ensuite bathroom, good value for money & we would certainly stay there again . Breakfast was either served in a cafe/wine bar across the road or in the room but not until 8 or 9am so if you wanted to go out for the day you could miss breakfast. Room could be noisy up to 11pm with music from the wine bar. Centro Storico was in an excellent location close Piazza San Michel in a beautiful historic city with plenty to see being only (by train) 1/2 hour from Pisa & 1 1/2hours from Firenze.

I was a bit disappointed with the Centro Storico. As the name suggests, it's nice and central but the rooms were a little shabby and we were woken up at regular intervals throughout the night by the bar across the street, garbage collectors, road sweepers, mopeds, you name it! Although breakfast was fine and the staff were friendly and helpful I don't think the hotel offers brilliant value for money.

The room we stayed in was in the annex rather than the main building shown in the photographs. We had a triple room and we had to use a sofa bed for the third person, this was located in the kitchen. The room was very dusty especially under the sofa bed, when we mentioned this to the owner we were told this was because we had the window open, but the dust had obviously been there for several weeks.

The hotel was in a central position, the room was big and the shower was good. However the towels were thin and it was a squeeze to get to the toilet, but that is our only complaint. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was served opposite at a wine bar. We choose to park outside Lucca's wall as it was cheaper, but it was a nightmare to navigate through the town and easy to get lost. Patience and good map reading skills are required!! Our advice is to enter at Santa Maria and call into the Tourist Information which is straight in front of you. We wished we had stayed Longer. The room also had no Air Con but there was fan and did the job.

Very noisy people at next room and thin walls & only door blocked by bookshelf didn't provide too great sound proof. Understand that place is for party people but some people need to travel early and loud noise at 4am is not acceptable. Otherwise it was as expected.

The hotel provided everything we could want, and dealt with any problems then and there. Breakfast brought to your room gave quite a luxurious feel to it all. You cannot fault Centro Storico. We had the big ensuite double and it was lovely and spacious. The breakfast served in the room was a great idea, and was good - even the cappucino was a good one (not something you can say about many places). And the people on the reception desk were very friendly and helpful. Great location in a beautiful town but may be a problem if you want to sleep before 11.00pm as there is a busy cafe in the street below - I'm sure for most people this wouldn't be a problem though. Overall I was well impressed with Centro Storico.

An adequate hotel in Lucca. Showers and breakfast decent and above average. Bathroom was extremely small but functional. The room in general was not especially clean. The map gave no idea of one way streets or how difficult the hotel is to access by car to drop off or pick up bags. We would have liked a slightly earlier breakfast in order to get to the airport in time but they said that the earliest time was 8am. We had to wait on the door step for quite a long time before we could get in, despite arriving at the correct time. As we had suit cases, we could not enjoy looking around the city until we had taken our bags into the hotel. It was adequate for a one-night stay and we enjoyed being in Lucca.

This is a two star hotel which could quite easily be mistaken for a four star. Excellent location, being near the bus terminus and three/four minutes from the "Campo" Didn't have air con in our room,so windows were open slightly, but had a nice man in a roadsweeper's cart who came to wake us up at six a.m. every morning. Our first time in Sienna and would strongly recommend this hotel.

this is a very quirky hotel, in a great position in Lucca, literally a stones throw from Piazza San Michele, and surrounded by very nice restaurants, bars and shops. It is in a very old building, but apart from the magnificent original front door, retains very little of the character. Our room was basic, but spacious and clean. The breakfast is apparently 5 euro though nobody offered it to us. instead try the trendy bar directly opposite, it was open from about 7.30am. You can park directly outside the Hotel for 15 minutes to unload your luggage, but parking is at least 5-10 minutes walk away. We would return to this hotel if it was just for a night or two (though its very central position may make it quite noisy later in the summer) Lucca, by the way is really lovely, we preferred it to Pisa, walk or cycle around the city walls with the locals on a warm evening.......lovely!

They had lost our reservation but cheerfully gave us the suite, which was the only room available. I was very happy to get the beautiful suite for the single room price BUT if the suite hadn't been available... Some street noises came in at night but not overpowering (I heard only one scooter all night), if you are a light sleeper you might want earplugs. Gorgeous gorgeous area. Driving in the historic center very tricky. Tip: park in a perimeter lot, leave luggage in car, walk in to hotel, have them draw directions to drive in to the hotel to unload your luggage and after unloading drive to parking (can't park in center). Extremely worth it if you love beautiful old cities!

Thank you for sending the survey, because I think it is important for you to know that in our 3 weeks in Italy, we never encountered anything as bad. The hotel was completely locked up before midday when we arrived, and only through the kind efforts of the bar across the street, were we eventually able to get someone to open up after 45 minutes. When I complained afterwards, reception conveyed zero interest, and a complete lack of client orientation and care. There were no phones in the rooms, and when my family called from overseas, they were either unable or unwilling to respond to the call. I therefore never got any message.

This B&B is nicely located near many of the sights of Lucca. The room was nice, as was the breakfast. There were a few other people staying there, and luckily there was no long wait for the bathroom/shower (not sure if there was more than one to use or not). My biggest complaint, however, is that the description of the location of this hotel is nowhere to be seen on the web site. Lucca is a town with a few entrances, a few two-way streets, and many one-way streets, or streets that are blocked for vehicles and only allow pedestrian traffic. I found the street on Mapquest.com, and had 3 different levels of maps to try to find it. However, many frustrating minutes could have been saved with good directions from the Autostrada (which of the 2 exits to depart would have helped a bunch) and then directions from each of the numerous entrances to the walled city. The town is very small, and it is very easy to find once you know your way around. After experiencing many one-way streets and dead ends, we finally found the information office. After standing in line and then getting assistance, we finally found Centro Storico after about 40 minutes. In a city that is only a mile or so wide, that is not something to pride myself on. Of course, by then we had missed the check-in deadline, and had to phone the number to get assistance. The phone across the way was broken, but luckily the bartender at the bar across the street helped out and we finally got checked in. The woman had little sympathy for our experience, and charged us the late fee. (It almost seems like a money-making opportunity after experiencing it) After a day in Lucca, we went to San Giminano, and stayed in a wonderful B&B (Poggio Leo) for about the same price. If I were to do it again, I would spend the day in Lucca, and drive to San Giminano for the night.

The accommodation was fine. I liked the informal breakfast served (collected from communal hallway and taken back to room). It was centrally located but noisy at night because overlooking mainish street and piazza. There was one serious problem which was that we found the pensione locked when we returned to collect our luggage during the advertised opening hours and as previously arranged. This may be have been due to a communications failure (the owner had limited understanding of English) and she may have only been absent for a short while. Fortunately, somebody else left shortly afterwards and we were able to reclaim our luggage. Had we not been able to, this would have been a serious inconvenience.

We were very impressed with this hotel right in the historical centre of Lucca. The room and facilities were excellent and quiet as the centre is traffic free. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms are very large and decorated in a Tuscan style. A good buffet breakfast is prepared in a mezzanine room and laid out and you help yourself and eat back in your own room on your own private dining table which is quite unique and enjoyable. We would definately recommend this hotel and stay there again.

We stayed in two hotels in Lucca - one, a 3-star accommodation that was recommended by all the books - and Centro Storico. We much preferred Centro Storico. The hotel has great charm and a warmth that is provided by the very gracious staff and the overall "old-world" ambiance. It is also totally up-to-date with a private bath. They serve a beautiful breakfast each morning that you can take back to your room. I would certainly recommend Centro Storico to anyone looking for a lovely accommodation in Lucca.

Good level of facilities for the price of the room and friendly employees. Excellent location in Lucca. However, we were quite surprised to learn when our reservation was confirmed that an extra 15 euros was charged for check-in after 8 p.m. as this is something we had not read on the hotel description on the venere website.

location of hotel is perfect. problem finding hotel with car. suggust parking outside wall or find parking then walk to hotel. driving in city is horrible. room was simple, large with small clean bathroom. mornings have truck/car noise as early mornings require deliveries to business in area. lucca is a wonderful town. difficult to drive to the heart of tuscuny region as the surronding area of lucca is slightly populated. it took time to go to the southern hill towns. we tired to alter our reservation from a 6 day stay to a 3 day stay after we arrived. we explained that we did not like the noise.(it wasnt bad but my wife is a bad sleeper and needs total quiet. the owner would not let us out of the reservation.when we went to the tourist office to get assistance they were very helpful, but the owner of the hotel insisted we were responsible for the entire amount. i would stay there again. however we enjoyed the countryside better.

I thought Centro Storico was excellent, exactly what we wanted. My only (minor) complaint was that on the website it claims all rooms have a view of Piazza Michele - only if you hang out the window by your ankles! Apart from that it was great - thoroughly recommended.
