Inn Antica Residenza del Gallo - Lucca

Very convenient hotel to all of Lucca. Great welcome and sense of humor from the owners. Very helpful. Enjoyed our stay and rate seemed about right for the season. Unless you are familiar with Lucca, the Hotel can be hard to find-- but I guess that is part of the travel adventure -- you meet a lot of shop owners that way.

This is a place not to be missed. The interiors were all hand-painted in beautiful colors and patterns, and the bathroom was modern and spacious. The ceilings seemed a mile high! The lovely lady at the front desk was very willing to help us with all sorts of things (wine-bottle openers, information on local concerts, luggage storage, etc.) and did us an additional favor - when it became clear that due to a complication we needed to stay in Lucca a night longer than originally planned, she called the B&B Dimora del Guelfi across town that is associated with San Gallo and arranged for us to stay there since San Gallo was full up, and it was a seamless transition. All frequent travelers know how difficult it can be to find good accommodations on a Friday night at the last minute, so you all know what a big deal this is, especially in a small city where we wanted to remain in the interior! Both stays were comfortable, welcoming and perfectly located within the city walls. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Location is wonderful, right in the centre of Lucca, the building is and old beautiful house, but the heating was poor (we were in December), the plumbing worked badly, and nobody changed the towels left on the floor.

For our family of 4 this was a great choice for a simple stay in the centre of Lucca. The hotel/residenza is indeed a fantastic building which has been very tastefully renovated. Unfortunately the furniture (beds, tables, chairs) doesn't match the rest of the hotel's style, since it is from a low-cost mass-producer. But the place is very clean, A/C worked well, and staff was friendly and competent. A true bargain at 99 EUR/night. We would stay here again.

Very nice apartement in the middle of Lucca Perfect location for exploring the city. The lady at the reception was very helpful and nice. We were two adults and two older kids (12 and 15) and everybody enjoyed the stay. We had some small problems finding the apartement by car. A better map and explanation on how to find the easiest way to the adress by car would have been nice.

Our stay was marred by correspondence telling us to cancel our room as they'd had a double booking - we got our hotel in Florence to sort out in the end, but still had the feeling they'd been trying to get rid of us. Otherwise, a fantastic location, and a spacious room - but don't try and do any self catering, there's a microwave and a few cups, that's it! We were in one of the 'studio' rooms.

One of the most beautiful rooms my wife and I have stayed. If you wish to stay in the centre of Lucca and don't require a swimming pool this place is as good as it gets.

Nice family suite, good location. Receptionist is only there certain times of the day, but security is good and services are adequate.

This was an absolute gem of a find. We needed to find somewhere cheap in Lucca for the last night of our holiday (two adults, two teenage daughters) and for the price of an apartment (70 euros) were only expecting to find a low-quality place to lay our heads. The apartment was stunning, with the sliding doors between the main bedroom and the sitting area/sofa bed very elegantly done. The shower was just amazing - can't believe this only cost 70 euros. We will come again. And the girl on reception was incredibly charming - she suggested a restaurant that turned out to be atmospheric and traditional. Can't be beaten.

This was booked off the web for our family, traveling with 2 children 11 and 13. The hotel is in the middle of Lucca - a little hard to find at first. We got the larger family room, which was great. Everything was clean and very nicely set up. The kitchenette allowed us to cook our meals there. Only problem was that the door locking system was too complicated, and the keycard was used to keep the lights on in the room, so that if someone wanted to go out and come back into the building by taking the key card, the power was off..so someone had to stay up and open the door when the person got back if they wanted to have the power on in the room. Should ask for a second card and key for the outside door. There is no parking near the hotel - have to park outside the walls and walk in (not a big deal, but just so you know).

Very nice hotel but the closer parking is outside the city walls. The rooms are pretty and full of colors and decorations. The staff is very kind.
