L'Antica Bifore Bed and Breakfast - Lucca

Very nice place, beautiful house, in the centre of Lucca. Very friendly and helpful owners, we would recommend this place to our family & friends.

What a treat to stay here. Beautiful rooms, great bathrooms, wonderful hosts. The best place we stayed at in Italy. The rooms were fantastic - Angels over our bed... how appropriate.. we were on our honeymoom. We will stay there again.

This B&B is very nice. We were greeted by the friendly owner who answered all of our questions and gave us tips on sightseeing, made a dinner reservation for us (which resulted in the gratuity being waived), and got us info on the train schedule. She was very very helpful. Our room had these big gorgeous stained glass windows that looked out at San Christopher church. the room was quiet, and the fridge in the common area was stocked with water, juice, yogurt and there was fresh fruit on the table. The location is perfect; right on a main shopping street. The only disappointment was that the wifi quit working. We would stay here again and would recommend it to friends. 

Very cute rooms, difficult to reach by car (restricted area). Very kind owners. Absolutely recommandable.

The room was really nice and cosy, with a unique location in the city center. The light coming from the glass window creates a peculiar atmosphere in the room. The owner and his wife are very kind persons, providing useful information about the city and how to get around there.

Owners very friendly and helpful. Room and facilities delightful. Whole property unique. Location excellent for seeing Liucca - right in thecentre of town. A little expensive especially when including the extra cost of breakfast. Entry is at street level but acommodation is on 1st floor up stairs. No lift available although owners very willing to assist with baggage. Overall, highly recommended.

A beautiful guest house with a wonderful welcome. Best guest house we stayed in during our time in tuscany. Brid and Stefano were excellent hosts and made breakfast time a delight, giving lots of helpful tips on where to eat, things to see and insight into life in Lucca etc. Only downside was the street can be noisy at night.

Delightful little bed-and-breakfast on the first floor of an old tower right in the heart of the city. Wonderfully welcoming and attentive owners who are genuinely concerned about their guests' enjoyment. What could be better? Slightly bigger rooms - go for the suite if you can.

We had a wonderfull time in Lucca! The guesthouse was great! We'll go back to L'antica Bifore also because of the owner, he's a wonderfull host.

Brilliant medieval atmosphere, clean and modern standard, superb position in the town centre, very competent and friendly staff, high quality breakfast.

Our ONLY complaints about this wonderful, and beautiful place, were that the public space could have been a bit more comfortable (it was gorgeous, but could use a comfy chair or two)and the breakfast could have been provided earlier each morning. When guests are planning either a busy day touring, or need to catch a train or bus, they need to get out earlier in the day. Breakfast showed up a couple of mornings at 10:00 am. But Lucca was amazing, the hosts were lovely, and we would stay in the same hotel again.

Stefano, guesthouse's owner, is really a nice and gentle guest. Our staying was perferct except for the noisy room (close to the road). Even if the breakfast wasn't marked as included in the reservation, stefano provided us with, and this was a great surprise. Overall it was a marvellous staying both for the town and the house. Finally if you want a quite room you'd better ask for it in advance. For the rest let Stefano tell you where to eat at the best quality and price. (af not from GB but from Italy).

Location is great. Hosts are delightful. The rooms are a little small but furnished beautifully and unique in a 14th century building right in the heart of the historical center. The central room serves as a nice gathering area for families and those traveling in a group. Nice private place to stay. Must be able to climb stairs to stay here.

Our expectations exceeded what we planned for. The B&B was centrally located to everything!! We admired the craftsmanship, the beauty, the atmosphere of L'Antica Bifore. It truly was a highlight. The window looked as though it came from a cathedral. The bathroom was clean, and the toilet flushed really well!! (Important for me!) The frescos on the wall were lovely. But a residence is only as good as the aura of the host and hostess! Brit and Stefano made the stay so welcoming as though we were in their house. They have a great way about them. Since Brit is from Ireland and Stefano is from Italy they covered their bases in connecting with all kinds of people. And isn't that what its all about? You can tell they enjoy meeting everyone. I can't express enough thanks to Brit and Stefano for making Lucca a magical stay for us. It was so endearing and meaningful. Many thanks!! I would love to come back to visit and would highly recommend L'Antica Bifore. This place should cost double what the charge is!! Travellars you are getting a great deal!

Lucca is a lovely city and L'Antica Bifore is an excellent base from which to explore and enjoy it. Brid and Stefan were very helpful hosts and made us feel most welcome.

L'Antica Bifore will appeal to certain travelers more than others. First, understand that "Town House Suite" does not mean hotel or B&B. There's no receptionist, no breakfast, not even a coffee pot. It's a guest house consisting of 4 ensuite rooms and a large reception salon (with working fireplace, we were told). The owner Stephan speaks English, and he met us with his Irish wife. They gave us maps, keys, pointed out the cafe 50 meters down the street and recommended some places to eat, but that was the only time we saw them before checkout. So, if you need hand-holding and personal contact, this would not be the place for you. This would be a great place for 4 couples or families to book. The rooms are beautiful and ours was quite comfortable, however, L'Antica Bifore is located on what Americans would call the 2nd floor and there is no elevator. But, hey, it's in a centuries-old tower and the location is excellent, right on the main shopping street and central to all the sites. If you go to bed early, then take the room off the back. The biggest inconvenience for us was not being allowed to leave our bags after checkout. Knowing this in advance, you can probably arrange something with Stephan, or book your train earlier than we did. I do recommend L'Antica Bifore for experienced travelers who want to feel more like a local going home to your apartment. If only there was a refrigerator....
