Very good 2-star hotel for London. Very good welcoming by staff. Family atmosphere; we got the feeling that the people who manage this hotel really feel concerned about the well-being of their guests. Breakfast very simple (coffee/tea with toasts and marmelade) but quite good. Nicely situated, 200 meters from 'Earl's Court' Underground station.

They offer a good price vs quality, they're not expensive so I didn't expect the world. Very good location, closed the subway. In that respect it's perfect. The bed was rather hard, but I'm ok with that. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only minor thing was that they servered only 1 type of Jam for breakfast, a little variation would be welcome. Breakfast is simple, but again it matches the price. If you're not a princes and don't want to pay to much this might be your spot.

Definitely much better compared to the price. A little far from the city center, but well- connected with tube and bus. Less than 5 minute walk from the tube station and bus stop. There is also a big Sainsbury within 5-10 minute walk. The area is quite safe even late at night. I know some people complain about complimentary breakfast, but it was better than nothing!

This hotel is ideal for the type of traveler who doesn't need to be pampered and who remembers to bring their own shampoo. The rooms are small and the breakfasts aren't much, and the bedding is fair to middling. But if you just want a very clean, mostly quiet crash pad for not a lot of quid, this is your hotel. The location is outstanding (very close to the Tube and a short ride to Kensington, Knightsbridge, Piccadilly, etc), the neighborhood charming (with many, MANY restaurant and pub choices nearby -- I recommend The Blackbird on the corner of Earl's Court and Barkston Gardens), and the staff very attentive if you meet them halfway. Good luck finding a nicer private room for the same price.

Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was only toast but this was fine; it set me up for the day and I could have as much as I wanted, I also got a pot of tea to myself. For the price, this hotel was very good value.

Wifi was down and had been for months even though it states on website they have wifi, the breakfast is toast and coffee/tea only. Building has charm and feels like a bed and breakfast place. Location is excellent as it is 2 blocks to the Earl's Court underground. We were in the front of the building and could hear cars and people walking by.

The hotel was nice and clean, the tube is right on the corner, it's very easy to go all over the city. breakfast was very poor, just a cup of coffee and a slice of tosted brad, if i will go to london again i will choose Merlyn court as well, it's situated in a strategic place.

The pros: clean and most staff are friendly, good location The cons: breakfast is very poor - only coffee and white toast. When I asked for brown toast, they said there wasn't any. Also I don't think serving breakfast for 1 hr. (8 - 9 a.m.) is realistic. For the price we paid, I don't feel we got value for our money. We also stayed nearby and for less money had a full breakfast that was available for 2 hrs. and had more services, ie. fridge in the room.

No frills hotel. Clean. Location - nice and quiet, but close to Earl's Court facilities. Don't bother with breafast pot of coffee and 3 pieces of toast, butter and marmalade - lots better on Earls Court Road if you want. No communal facilites - ideal for use for short stay business or sight seeing when you don't expect to use the hotel except to sleep in.

Let's be honest. The Merlyn Court Hotel is based perfectly at Earl's Court. Short walk to tube, pubs etc. When that is said, for a group of three guys the rooms are just too small, the toilet would only flush every, say, 20 minutes and the breakfast A COMPLETE DISASTER! Toast (oh well, and butter) and tea, that's is just not my take on the term "continental breakfast", but I may be wrong. If the main purpose of the hotel is to just sleep - I would recommend the Merlyn Court. But I don't think price and room corresponds. Nice staff though. Recommendable for couples definitely.

Really nice, quite, relatively small, in the middle of a very dynamic, vibrating and pleasant area. Ideally positioned, near tube, pubs and other amenities. I used a single so I can't tell about how would be to stay with my whole family. For me was exactly what I was looking for.

It is true that breakfast is only toast, but this is an excellent value for the price. The staff was phenomenal and was willing to give me a flexible checkout time, which helped my travel plans. The rooms are incredibly quiet. The furniture is all antique, giving the place a quaint feeling. There are even books and magazines placed around the hotel. It is only a short walk from the Underground, and I felt safe walking the area after dark.

We enjoyed our stay at Merlyn Court. The breakfast is sparse as noted by others, so just go to one of the nearby stores and pick up some milk/cheese/fruit to supplement and the staff will be happy to store it for you in the refrigerator. Don't be put off by the "rules", there are those who seem to need a reminder to be considerate of others and respect their surroundings. Enjoy your stay!

Excellent location and nice personnel. However, we found that quality of service was poor, due to the building's overall features: breakfast area in the basement, no lounge... Our room was spacious and reasonably quiet but antiquated, and we had to climb up 4 stores to reach it (no elevator). There was a problem with the mechanical ventilation system too: it went on everytime we turned on the light in the bathroom, making it very noisy (especially at night).

The hotel is old and is rather down-at-the-heels. Room was stuffy in the warm climate. Difficult climb to the top floor without lift. Welcoming staff seemed sullen. Some problems with shower. Breakfast room was a bit grim. The owner was very nice and helpful about the shower, however. The location was convenient to tube station and on a nice street.

Difficult to comment on price as I don't know London prices. For a budget room it was very clean and the staff were nice. The breakfast was basic - some jam would be good. The inability to make a hot drink was frustrating - but I did know that in advance. The showers were good but a times the toilets got smelly.

We finished our trip with a return to London. Our first hotel was not available for this leg of the trip (4 nights), but we were able to find Merlyn Court through Venere. It offers clean, basic accomodations. The rooms are quite small. No lift. Staff was kind. I got sick during the trip. The staff made it a point to ask how I was doing, offer advice and helped when necessary. Location is good - very close to Earl's Court station, M&S, and a Boots (and fast food, if you like). Even more important, very close to a couple of pubs! As 30-somethings, we liked the age range of the neighborhood. A few minuses - We had to move rooms during our stay. This meant we couldn't really settle into our room because we knew we had to move after 2 nights. They helped with the luggage thankfully, because we moved UP another floor! No TV, radio, or alarm clock in the room. Could be a good thing, especially on vacation, but I definitely felt out of touch with what was happening in the world. But I suppose that's what the metro publications are for! Lots and lots of rules posted - including no luggage on the beds. The rules made the hotel seem more "hostel-ish" than the other hotels we stayed out. Even with all the rules posted about not dragging luggage up/down the staircase in order to not disturb others, each morning we had kids playing in the hallways. **If you pay by credit card, it's an extra 5%.** Another good thing - easy access to Heathrow via the tube's Piccadilly line. Even with a lot of luggage among the 3 of us, we managed to make it to LHR no problem and relatively cheap!

Such a surprise to discover that the owners are italians! They where really nice and gentle, even when a little problem happened to us on the tube...and it's Italy to be known for thieves! The hotel is very comfortable: there's no tv or wireless, but we knew it and we didn't care, because we only needed a place to sleep, rooms are really clean (in the bathroom you could still smell the cleaner!): on the moquette you could see the signs left by the vacuum. Then they've just refresh the most of the place. As for the rest, the tube is very close (less then five minutes by foot) and there are two lines: Piccadilly and District. The first is the one that takes you to/from Heathrow on one side and towards Piccadilly Circus (almost the center), and farther on, on the other, crossing over the town. We were five of us, divided in one double and one triple, and decided to come back there if we'll go back to London.

This small B&B offers what its money worth, considering its position in a nice and quiet area, close to metro. Our room (3 adults) was clean and spacious enough. Breakfast (toast, jam, butter, coffee, milk, musli) was OK. Lucy, the owner of the bussiness, was friendly, helpful and competent. All in all, a pleasant 4-days stay.

The room and the bathroom were not large but functional and clean. Hot water always and clean every day. The breakfast was essential but healthy and abundant: toasts with butter and marmelade, tea, coffee and milk. We were very well and the personal was very kindly. The price (we were four) was very cheap, especially in London. The subway is nearby and close there are many great ethnic restaurants!

Merlyn Court was close to the Tube which was very convenient for getting around. There were plenty of pubs and resaurants in the area. The room was very small, but this did not bother us as we were only there to sleep. One thing that did surprise me was the lack of towels. My husband and I had only one towel to share between the two of us for the first two days. There are many stairs to walk to get to your room, so if you have trouble with this, I would ask for a room on the lower floor. The directions on how to get to Merlyn court do need to be modified. I cna't remeber exactly, but I think the directions had us going an extra leg on the tube when it was not necessary.

The hotel is conservative managed, i.e. the breakfast is not a buffet and the guests are educated to sparingness: The toilet-flush works only every 20 minutes. It seems to me, this doesn't fit to the price.

My staying was pleasant, the hotel is situated in a central area in a very quiet street. The Tube is just 2 min walking, as well as the Earls Court Venue. The rooms are very clean but they are very small. I was disappointed by not having my tea kettle in the room. I was also very disappointed by the breakfast. I was supposed to have a continental breakfast, but what I had was actually too poor to be even called continental. There was just marmalade and no hope of any jam, no yoghurt, no sweet, no fruits...

They were kind and thoughtful and made my stay that much better. The area is lovely - just off the Earl's Court station in a quiet neighborhood - and the hotel itself is a calm, soothing environment. I stayed 3 nights w/ my 2 school aged children. The room was very small, but had clean beds and a bathroom, as well as a window with fresh air and plenty of natural light. I would say the biggest lack was in breakfast. I'm all for keeping things simple, but Muslix, toast & marmalade is a bit narrow 3 days running. Some croissants or a boiled egg to mix things up would be nice. Also, tea & coffee are not ideal beverages for kids. Staff was very friendly, but you just get the overall impression that they're doing the minimum to service guests, while pinching pennies. Location was fantastic - 1 1/2 blocks from the tube, walking distance to Natural History Museum, lovely!

Great value for the money. Staff was friendly and accommodating - allowing me to check in at 9:30am after a long overnight flight and holding my bag for a few extra hours the day of check out. Due to a room mix-up (my room wasn't ready yet) they upgraded me to a private bath room at no additional cost. Hotel is right around the corner from the Earl's Court tube stop on a quiet pretty side street. Felt very safe there travelling as a single woman and would definately stay there again.

We stayed at the hotel for a week. Service and assistance from Lucy was exceptional, and we were particularly grateful for her flexibility in rearranging our accommodations at the last minute. The rooms are definitely on the small side, but if you are out and about sight seeing for 10 hours a day they are as big as you need them to be. Breakfast every day was a plus. The location of the hotel is perfect- only a couple of minutes walk from Earls Court tube station which will whisk you in to the heart of london in a few minutes. You can also walk to a number of top attractions such as the natural history museum and the Victoria and Albert. There are a couple of dozen places to eat right around the hotel to suit all pockets. Great Hotel. Highly recommended. Loved it.

If they had a cettle and tea/coffee in the room, if they had a tv/radio in the room if the room was more heated and the windows wouldnt have let the cold wind in if they had served me not the endings of the toast if they had brown toast and more jams to choose from if they would have served english breakfast then the rating could have been better.

Stayed in a single, basic (no bathroom) - clean and simple. Never had to wait for the shared bathroom. My room was adjacent to the street and the noise from outside was significant: those wishing a quieter room should request a room at the back of the hotel. No window to open, so I wished I could adjust the temp a bit sometimes, but it wasn't too bad. Overall a good experience, though: I'd stay here again as it's a good value for the money, in a location close to public transport. Staff was very cheerful and friendly!

If you are looking for a budget hotel in a fantastic area, close to tube, restaurants but off the busy main road then look no further. However, this is London and for the price you pay you are getting excellent value but not the Ritz!. Breakfast is just cereal and toast but you are two minutes from a supermarket and restaurants so you won't starve!. We were meant to stay in a twin room but on arrival had been put into a large triple room for no extra cost so we were pretty happy. The ensuite is small but for the price you are paying for a fantastic location in London then one can have little to complain about!. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They let us store our bags after check out for the day as we had a late flight. The place was cleaned very thoroughly every day. Will definitely be back and highly recommend it for the budget traveller.
