When I arrived at the hotel there was no record of my booking, in fairness I had only booked that day and they had room so it was quickly solved, but after a long journey I could have doen without the hassle. The room was clean and was tidied everyday with fresh tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries added everyday. The room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable although noise from other rooms could be heard. Overall a decent hotel close to Kings Cross.

Nowadays it is possible to find for the same price more modern, clean accommodation in London. This one is ok old standard London cheap hotel, but I will definetely look for something else on the same price range when I have to stay in the same area.

My boyfriend and I were surprised at first by the narrowness of the corridors and the size of the room. However, we understood it is normal considering it is an old building. It didn't feel claustrophobic at all though, as our room led to the backyard in spite of being in the basement. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the TV worked properly, so we liked it a lot and will go back. Ah! Breakfast was excellent.

This is a good place for someone who just needs a room for a night or two. The room is small with no place to put the luggage except on the floor. That said, the bathroom was clean and the bedding comfortable. The water kettle provided had mold and rust debris in it. Needless to say we did not use it.

Single room was very small and you can't see it by the photos in internet. The bathroom is particularly very small too. I asked for an other one but I was told they were all the same. When I came back to sleep, the lift doors was left open by someone and I had to do 3 flights on foot to reach my room.

Decoration of the room is non-existant and very austere, but it is clean. Beds are not very comfortable. The main quality of this hotel is the proximity to St-Pancras railway station.

If you are a traveler who is "high maintenance", this is NOT the hotel for you...if you are looking for a small hotel where people know you by name, where the price is right, and you get what you pay for...meaning an efficient, clean, comfortable yet small room, then the Swinton is your home! EVERYONE on the staff treated us like family! Polite, helpful, friendly...we loved this little hotel...the location is fantastic!! Breakfast, while simple, was delightful!! This is a great hotel for travelers who spend most of the day out of their hotel, which is where you should be anyway!! Thank you to each and every member of the Swinton staff for making us feel so welcome and "at home"!

Beware travellers! I travelled in all Europe, USA and Africa but I have never seen such an Hotel. Room was 3 meters x 3 meters, no wardrobe inside and I had to ask for a chair to the reception! Bed was really very small for 2 persons, the bath was 1 meter x 1 meter and it was possible brushing your teeth sitting on the toilet! I think it's enough...

It was my 4th stay here, that probably says enough: the neighbourhood is getting better (more developed) every time. Yes it is on a very busy, thus noisy, street. But if that doesn't bother you, because you're out all the time exploring the city and just want a nice bed & breakfst: come here!

The hotel is perfectly located next to St Pancras. The ratio price/quality is excellent for people who wish to have a simple room for spending the night. Bathroom and beds were ok. The space and accommodation in the room we had were sufficient. Ideal for a 3 to 5 days period. Ask for the rooms located on the court yard for quietness. Swinton Road is an avenue with lots of traffic, especially buses and trucks!

I stayed in room no 14, which had an ok location facing the backyard with little sound of traffic. The bathroom was awful... The ceiling was very dirty over the shower (fungus I think), the water was dripping constantly from the shower which caused a wet bathroom floor. The bed was old and a bit lop-sided. The hotel smelt old, and it could really need a make over. I think I paid to much (£118 for two nights) for this lov standard hotel... The people working there were friendly.

In general the rooms are small but clean. Rooms on the front can be noisy due to the traffic on Swinton. Rooms at the back are much quieter. Internet access is free, and works well if you are located near the front office. If your room is not close to the office, you probably won't have internet access. The breakfast room is small, but the breakfast is simple and good. Cereal, cheese, toast, croissants, ham, juice, coffee and tea.

The hotel is good located. The rail station and underground are closely together or if you prefer the bus. There are lines that take you to most of the places, If you go out by night there are several night lines. The staff is in general very good, . The rooms are quite small but in london and so central you cannot ask for more. The city is expensive and the buildings are old in the center , but worth it. If what you look for a central and clean hotel, this one is a good option.

The rooms are small, but the basement rooms open to a courtyard with chairs and tables: makes a difference in Spring and Summer. There are few other public spaces. Most importantly, the helpfulness of the men at the desk could not be surpassed at a five star hotel. They met our need to leave luggage for a few days or a few hours with practised equanimity. And an excellent breakfast, eficiently and cheerfully served.

Very good location and probably a good relationship between price and quality considering it is in London. The room was really tiny and squalid. Disturbing also the sequence of small tunnels/corridors/doors/steps (a sort of labirinth) to reach the room. About, the employees, generally kind and competent even if one day we didn't succeed to have breakfast for a delay of 3 minutes after the end of breakfast time.

The staff is very nice and breakfast is ok, but mostly continental more that english breakfast style, but for the rooms the pictures are much nicer on the web than what they are in the reality (bathrooms are without window and small) rooms seems to be much bigger than what they are (we were into 2 singles).

For that money you won't find a lot of places in London which are better located than Swinton. Everything is cramped into a stretch of old town houses. So don't await a spacious place. The rooms are o.k., the breakfast is o.k., the rooms to the back are o.k. and quiet (I don't know about the front, but the road there isn't a major road neither ...). So I would recommend it, especially because of the location close to Kings Cross.

Regarding rates: the rate quoted on-line is exactly what you will be charged at Swinton. However, Swinton's walk-in rate is lower.

I assume that for London standards this is a reasonably good place. Convenient for the Underground station (a 5 minutes walk). Reasonably clean. Nice people. We asked for a room in the "back" and got it, so, even at the ground floor, we had very little noise from the main street; I suspect that the rooms on the front would be rather noisy. Reception, corridords, staircases, room, beds, bathroom (shower only) all really small (the basin is ridiculous for italian standards) but decent (beware you 6-footers: the beds are exactly 6 feet long, and I, being 6-4, i.e., 1.90 meters, had problems to sleep. But so is "inexpensive" London). No tables, only one chair in the 2 bed room for 2 people. A very basic continental breakfast only. But on the whole, considering, as I said, the London standards (with 75 Euros, 2 bed room for 2, per night, not in high season, in Italy you get much better places, even in big cities, apart from Rome and Milano), not a bad place.

The furnishes are old, but the mattress was exelente, the private bath, was clean and functioned, with new taps. The breakfast was basic, tosts, cereals, milk and coffee, but enough. At last, for the price I cannot demand more, therefore of certain that I come back to this "bed&breakfast", and I recommend it to who will have a reduced budget.

Ci ritornerei.

OK hotel in 5 minutes' walking distance from Kings Cross station. Our rooms were small but with everything in place, and clean. Some traffic noise coming in through the open windows during the night. Friendly staff. Reservations and prices were exactly as agreed. Recommendable.

The place has a good quality/price ratio and it's located in a convenient area. The bathroom in our room was just a bit too small.

Great hotel with friendly staff. The rooms were small but clean. The rooms downstairs were smaller and bathrooms did not have shower cubicle. The rooms upstais were a bit bigger and bathrooms had shower cubicle. The location is great with the metro station so close. We would definitely stay again and ask for a room upstairs.

Siamo stati veramente bene.

Annamaria

I booked a single room. When I entered my room the first time, the room still seems to be inhabited. So I got a doubble room for the first night, which was nice. Apart from this first strange impression the stay was okay. Compared with the McDonalds hotel the rooms and especially the breakfast is much better, so its more than worth to pay the oncosts. Okay, even with that in your mind - the costs are not comparable with any other european city - but thats London...

On the website it is said that Swinton is located between Covent garden and Holborn but it is actually located near King's cross, which is not the same thing at all! i moved by cab and it cost me a lot of money so you should correct this information on your ad.
