I HAVE STAYED HERE SEVERAL TIMES. The location is great and they have updated the linens but the breakfast room is crowded and the room furniture is old and broken. They should extend breakfast hours so that there isn't such a rush and such a long wait.

We have stayed at the Stanley several times, mostly because of it's location but I will stay there again as it has a cooked breakfast and they do accommodate any requests I may have except for room requests. If a guest prefers a certain room and has stayed there before why not honor that request?

It didn't meet my standards.I don't know how old the carpet is which gave a sense of uncleanliness. 4 floors with no lift and a small staircase that you can go up on only one at a time. Small room with built in tiny bathroom. Miniscule washhand basin. So small you could hardly brush your teeth in. A horrendous heat in the room and difficulty to open the window. They sorted that out the day after. We didn't take breahkfast. It was in a basement and the room was quite off-putting. I don't know if it was the owner but he seemed to appear from under a half door near the reception area in the morning with almost bare feet. Not exactly the most professional way to behave. What can I say??? I wouldn't go back again.

The hotel is in a very great location, closed to Victoria station but in a quiet street. The room are clean (this is very important!!), not very large and modern but perfect for unpretentious travellers. Very good value for money!!!!

It's an old hotel with 30 rooms and the breakfast room at the lower floor. My room was very basic and the bathroom is really small, tiny sink and shower. The position is excellent. If you like to walk you can go to Westminster, Buckingham, Harrods... on foot. Otherwise the Victoria station underground is 2 minute walking. I had an english breakfast, pretty good. If you don't expect too much, it' s good option.

This was the most filthy accomodation I ever came across travelling 4 Continents. Old, filthy, dirty carpets, not vacuumed for ages, durty walls, dirt spots everywhere. Dump stinky air. Breakfast room only for the toughies, poor quality and no choice. It is a filthy , lousy place where bed bugs and cockraoches may feel great.

Hotel was exactly as expected,we could even say that we were happily surprised by the size of the room, more spacious than we thought, the cleanliness of the sheets and mattresses (new), also extremely comfortable in our opinion and the helfulpness of all staff (all persons at reception and all persons attending for breakfast, all were really nice). The location is really a big asset. The carpeted floor is a bit hard to overcome at first sight, it is really ugly but once you've overcome this, the room is fine. The bathroom was very small,we knew that beforehand and it did not bother us at all. It was also quite old and therefore not looking shiny and clean. But still acceptable,I am rather picky and it was not a big problem. The furniture (bedsides, wardrobe and desk) were old, rickety and not matching each other, the inside was a bit dirty but nothing "disgusting",just a bit of dust and some bits of paper, it was nice to have space to store all our clothes and stuff and to write the postcards. We were given clean towels each day and the bed was made but no more cleaning. The room was on groundfloor and had a big window on Belgrave road, that was nice thought a bit noisy but not unbearable. It was overheated for us,fortunately we had spare Tshirts that we used instead of our pyjamas. The breakfast was fine, we tried the English one which was nice but out of habit switched to continental the next days (toasts, butter and jam, coffee, tea or milk, orange juice, perfect for us.I had brought bags of chocolate powder for our daughters's breakfast, thanks to the person who commented on this on the website. The persons serving breakfast were very nice,it was a good start for each day. We did not have to queueu up,and were served very fast. On the whole it was a nice stay and we were happy to get to the hotel after each of these three exhausting days walking through London. We had to pay the full stay the day after our arrival, that is not usual for us but it was not a problem at all

The room was very poor, 3 beds, incorporated paper walls to divide tiny shower (with lots of black marks (mould?)), very very small sink and toilet. Fortunately the sheets were cleaned, but the blanket was the one provided to everybody, only a sheet was covering it from underneath. Not good feeling from this. Breakfast was nice, really typical English, the waitresses were nice and smiley. Very positive was the location - close to Victoria Station and Buckingham Palace.

Overall, it's worthy to stay in this hotel. The only thing which may be a bit annoying is the dimension of bathroom...sink is minimal and it's even hard to wash your teeth. However, for short-stay can be perfect.

I tried to find a cheap-but-nice hotel, as we were traveling as backpackers, but i am a little afraid about Hostals. Stanley House was the cheapest hotel with the best location that I could find. The Palace of Buckinham is really near. You can go walking. Also the Big Ben is really near. The rooms are very very small, but they have the basic stuff such as TV, private bathroom, bed, closet. The only thing is that the carpet was a little dirty, and the bathroom was so so so small. Also the matress was old, but I could sleep well. But if you are going to be out in London all day, then you dont need extra things in the bedroom. The breakfast was included, which was great, I had eggs, ham, juice, milk, bread, sausagge.. It was really good for being already included. So, if you are trying to save some money but you want to have a private room and private bathroom this is a good option.

Just one night passed in the Hotel. Cheap, but near Victoria station, only one night doesn't require full comfort. Toilets/shower are small, old, but you can use in confidence. Good relationship between price and quality. PS: Do not hesitate to go to breakfast early because of the waiting. Limited number of tables, you will have to wait in the stairs...

We spent 3 nights in this hotel. The location is perfect. The room is basic but was good enough. If you come to London just for couple of days, you have no time to stay in hotel. We had access to little balcony which was great deal for us as the weather was beautiful. The only thing i found bad about our room, was the size of sink in the bathroom; it was really hard to wash your face without splashing water all over the bathroom. It was tiny and placed right under the press what made the access really hard. Over all, i would recommend this hotel.

I stayed here before and if I would book it again because the positian is really good-just 5 min walk from the Victoria coach, railway and underground station. From Stansted airport I usually take Terravision to come to Victoria station-return ticket costs 14 pounds and it takes 75 minutes. Hotel is clean and nice, breakfast is included. I had a double room - the only bad thing is that ensuite bathroom is very very small but anyway, I would recomand it.

I've stayed with my girlfriend at stanley's for two nights,in winter. Our room was on the third floor, and we had a lovely view on the London Eye from our window. Stairs were a little too steep, an eldery person would have some problems carrying the luggage. The room was pretty small, but warm and clean; so was the bathroom. Staff was kind but not very qualified in my opinion. Breakfast was ok, so the lithuanian waitresses. The hotel is in a very good position!! Very good for young people (singles, couples and groups) and people who can settle down and don't have large claims!

It would be quite difficult if you had bulky luggage. breakfast was hot n good. overall its a good choice in london. Front desk staffs are not friendly but for its price n location u really cant ask for more.

I booked a triple room without bathroom and they gave me a triple with bathroom inside, what a beautiful surprise! Unfortunately, the first night, while I was washing my teeth, from the floor of the bathroom and of the shower went out black, dirty and disgusting black water that made the air unbreathable! I went down to the reception anf they give me another (and bigger) room where I remained the next days. Unlucky, but for me the hotel is ok, excellent relationship between price and quality, next to victoria station, beautiful and quite zone.

This hotel is disgraceful to the image of London. Please go elsewhere. We really can't wait to get out of this place the next morning, good thing we only stayed 1 night, worst stay in London. Price is definitely not worth at all for this hotel compared to other hotels with the same price just a few tube stops away from Victoria. Negative- The whole place smells, not cigarette but very unpleasant smell. Staff is extremely rude and unfriendly. Do not ask or get assistance for anything. No soap, shampoo, hair dryer or any kind of toiletries provided. Bring your own and also make sure to have bottom low level of expectations for this hotel. Tube TV and extremely small screen. Bathroom is hazardous, shower door is broken, no hooks, floor is slippery, tiles are disgusting and moldy, trash can is broken, sink is small and dirty, toilet doesn't flush well, etc. Mattress is very old, smelly and "back-breaking" softness. Could hear noise from outside even with the windows shut and noise all around outside/upstairs bedroom. Positive- Location is near Victoria station which is a main/frequent underground connection to anywhere in Central London. Victoria coach station also there if you plan to join tour outside of London. Walkable to few main attractions- Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, etc., all within 30-40 mins if you can walk that far. Good variety of small restaurants within few blocks around. The hotel is all about a place to sleep (which is not even good) and it's location but nothing else. Breakfast is included but we had upset stomach after that.

One staff person gave me an excellent hint about where to change tube lines to avoid stairs. The basement room I had was clean with comfortable bed and big bath tub. However, room could use updating and repairs to walls etc--furnished in rather haphazard way. And the room faced Belgrave road and was therefore noisy from sidewalk foot traffic. Adequate as a place to sleep though, because so conveniently located.

With London standards it's good value for money, close to victoria station, but on a quiet road, very essential, very old structure, old furniture but clean!, free wifi in room, they change towels everyday, we complained of the leaking of the shower they fixed it immediately, good english breakfast, you can't expect more from a 2star hotel in center London

The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to Victoria Station. We are a couple with a teenager and stayed 6 nights, we were first in a tripple room with 3 single beds in the basement close to the kitchen - quiet at nights but noisy in the morning - a bit disappointed about the 3 single beds but we were able to change for a room with a double and a single bed on the 4th night, 4th floor with view of London Eye and Big Ben, the room was much better. Breakfast is nice and filling, the breakfast room is small so if it's too crowed you share a table. No tea facilities in the room but a vending machine is available at the entrance, bathroom is small but clean, towels changed daily and beds made daily but the hotel itself and the rooms are rather old (carpet, taps, shower, tiles). Staff is polite but not that welcoming, just the strict minimum is said. There are probably better hotels but much more expensive and certainly worse ones more expensive too ! We therefore recommend the Stabley House, and would definitely go back there again because of the rates. We had a wonderful time in London and a good needed rest each night !

The only positive aspect was the breakfast (nice service and food) but the room was absolutely dirty and smelled awfully (even if it was cleaned every day). We've found a cockroach in the bathroom which was old and rusty, the shower didn't work properly and the little bathroom window was the only one in the room.

Quiet and clean room with access to trains, underground and buses. Classic building, adapted to hotel model, maybe the furniture a little bit worn or old, but we came to London to see it and not to contemplate the room! Good water pressure at any time. Some people will find the bath room small and the shower cabin a national sport competition but this is part of the London charm (if you didn't visited yet Venezia!).The only missing thing is the fridge in the room. Close to historical area and surrounded with pubs and small oriental restaurants. Fair services and helpfull and open staff. We stayed for ten days and access to London and surroundings was quite fast. A good experience!

No good experience. Very hot in room, central heating turned on in mid-June, and window had to be shut because of street noise. Very small shower room, but good water pressure (often a problem in London). The room itself quite spacious. Awful breakfast, waitress didn't inform about alternatives to the Full English, and had me share a mini-table with another single traveller, and I couldn't sit down or raise up without shaking the table and disturbing her meal. Awful coffee.

This hotel is in a very convenient location near Victoria Station, and within walking distance of Buckingham Palace. We stayed in 2 separate rooms. First four-bed room and second double room! Rooms are clean, we had clean towels every day. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms aren't spacious (there is little space to move around room), the bathrooms are tiny (in both rooms - although in second-double room it was more modern). Walls are pretty thin and you can hear what is going around in rooms around you. The only people we wouldn't recommend to stay here are the ones with problems with walking, because of the stairs. All together we had a nice stay, the hotel is 5 min walk from Victoria station, close to main attractions. If you don't need luxury, only a place to crash during the night it is a very good place to stay.

Ideal location, within easy reach of all major attractions. We chose this hotel mainly because of the location and are quite happy with our choice. We don't expect much for what we pay in this area of London. One of the two beds was comfortable and the other was not. The shower was totally inadequate. It was so small you could not wash anything you couldn't reach without bending over and there was nowhere you could stand out of the water stream. We have stayed at Stanley House before in a room with a better shower. We tried the Hotel next door and found some things better and some worse for the same price. We will probably try the one on the other side next time. We might come back to Stanley House if that doesn't prove any better.

This is the first time to stay in Stanley House. Book this hotel because is the location and the price. It is about 10 mins walk to Victoria Rail/Tube Station and 15 mins walk to Coach Station. The location is really good for travel, it cost GBP80 for a triple room included full english breakfast and the best thing is Free Wifi in room. The outlook of the hotel is very good but when I go to my room, it is old furnishings and not very clean, the toilet door did not have lock and the toilet window cannot close properly. There is no window in the room, there is only on window in the toilet so we need to open the toilet door all the time. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, no tea/coffee facilities in room, we need to buy water for our four day stay. If you just need a bed while spending most time out and about London...its OK. But I think I will search another one in the same street.

The location is great, around 10 min to the tube, pubs/restaurants around the corner, a supermarket, internet cafe in a newsagent, it seemed to be a good area. The staff was friendly and very helpful in finding a room that fitted to my requests. The private bathroom was tiny, the sink was the size of a laptop keyboard, with separated hot and cold water tabs, the shower even more tiny (I couldn't stretch my arm) and it took a couple of minutes until the water turned warm. The bed had a spring mattress which I don't like but it was comfortable. Everything was clean with fresh towels and clean sheets. Also the wifi worked in my room but not the bed lamp. Belgrave road had some traffic in the morning, not at night though. English breakfast is served from 7.30 to 9.00 and was ok. I could leave my luggage in the TV room.

Lovely and helpful staff. The hotel is very easy to find from Vistoria train/coach station and about 500m away. The beds were a little old and sagging in the middle. There is double glazing so that even though it's on a main road there is very little exterior noise. We were able to leave our luggage all day on our final day. Standard English breakfast is included.

Stanley House was clean, convenient, comfortable and inexpensive. While not luxurious it was fine for a day or two visiting London. The staff was friendly and the breakfast good although limited in choice. The rooms were clean and comfortable although could use a new coat of paint and the rugs and furniture were somewhat in need of refurbishing or replacing. The room did smell musty and the tub could use a shower curtain or door. All in all it was good value for the money if decent, inexpensive accommodation is your goal.

Probably the best hotel (with low fares) I've ever stayed in. Would reccomend to everyone (++ young people) seeking for convenient rates and a fast and easy way for a short stay in London, due to its nearness to Victoria Station and other pleasant facilities.

What was commensurate with the price. I was also convinced about the breakfast. I think location is very good! Near from the station is quiet around. The only negative is the key to the room closed and difficult.

The location was great for a reasonable price. Short distance from all major sightseeing areas in London. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Breakfast was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful, thanks to them our stay was excellent. Would recommend the Stanley to potential visitors to London.

This bed and breakfast hotel is very well located close to Victoria Station ; the employees are very kind, the english breakfast very consistant and good. The only reserve I could have is related to the smalness of single bedrooms : I don't know if mine was over 8 square meters, and the shower room's waist was average 1.6 m2! A lift should be relevant, especially when your bedroom is on the last floor upstairs! But, nethertheless, it's a very good opportunity to spend a few nigths in London Center.

Regular B&B in a neighborhood where the offer is very extensive. Rooms a bit small. Nice breakfast.

The street where the hotel is located was very noisy and the room was smelly. The only good point was free access to wireless internet.

+ can't really think of anything in particular - hotel has no parking lot and you don't get a discount anymore if you park in a nearby car park. you can only park for 4 hours in the streets surrounding the hotel (we got a fine...) - the breakfast is served in the basement (unpleasant) and the continental breakfast is very basic - the 'bathroom' is very small. you can't go to the toilet with the door closed.

Stanley House is in an excellent location. It's very basic but that's all you really need. Five minutes walk from Victoria Station, you can get anywhere in London quite easily. There are shops, restaurant, a grocery and a theater box office a few blocks. Trains to and from the airport make the Stanley House very convenient.

The accomodation is very suitable for families with young children due to its nearness to the most important turistic sites and the transportation means (Bus, Train and Metro Station). The forniture is as a 2 stars Hotel but the maintenance is good (repainting, new moquette, no smoke smell, no dust). We stayed in a quadruple room with ensuite bathroom and all was good: enough space (also in the bathroom), the shower was well working; small balcon on the road; towels were changed each day, the sheets were well clean. Beautiful and quiet surroundings (english style) with a lot of cheap (for London!)restaurants. The employees were very nice: I claimed for the hairdryer in the evening and the day before it was already fixed! The only problem (for me because I have some pains in my back) was the bed: the materass was damaged.

This is a simple hotel with a very reasonable price, The location is a street that runs between Victoria station and Victoria Coach station, and the hotel is an easy walk from both. The block on which it's located is lined with inexpensive hotels and B&Bs. It's on the edge of a very pleasant and quiet neighborhood; It's near Parliament and Buckingham Palace. You can hear Big Ben ringing from the hotel room. The staff were very kind and welcoming. Because I had an early departure, they got together some things for me to eat in the morning. The room was reasonably sized and simply furnished. There were not many outlets in the room, and there was no wifi. I'm not sure if they had other internet access available. There is no lift, but there are only three stories in the hotel. The bed was comfortable and the bath was adequate. There was no shampoo nor other toiletries in the bath, but there were small bars of soap. The towels were of good quality. Since the price was particularly reasonable for London, I would judge the quality/price ratio to be very high.

Fire doors were blocked meaning forced open. In case of fire that could be critical. The management did not act in spite of it was told. Actual, I did close the fire door outside our room but still the management should have arranged all fire doors in function.
