rooms are small, expected, but the bathrooms cannot be considered legal by European standards, 1 person can barely fit in them, placing your private toiletries on a toilet lid cannot and is not considered hygienic , (all bathrooms are the same size, single double and triple, quadruple rooms, - I asked for a change of rooms considering I was paying almost 300 Can dollars for a triple)

As with other New Zealanders who have arrived in London after a gruelling 24 hour flight, I found the staff extremely sympathetic in making a room ready in the morning, with only a brief wait. The staff were excellent and the breakfasts/wifi connection very welcome but I reckon that a significant investment in improvements in this property is required of the owners. On the hottest night in London this summer, I had to prop the window open by various means to avoid suffocation (there was no fixed means of keeping the window open). There was a small fan in the room but with the wrong (US) plug fitting. This meant that I was awoken throughout the night by rowdiness in the square below. I agree with others regarding the cramped space (especially the shower). It was an adequate place for two nights stay but I may have gone stir-crazy with a longer stay, All London accomodation prices are hideous but perhaps I expected a little more for what I paid at the Cardiff (which has no apparent Welsh connection). Very handy to the tube and good things within walking distance.

I was disappointed this time because I only received one big towel and not also a small one for my hands. Earlier I always received both of them. When I asked why not, I also got a mat to stand on in the bathroom. All these things should have been there from the start. The wifi in the hotel was not so good. Even when I got some help from the reception, it did not always work very well. But apart from these things I enjoyed my stay. The bed is very good, the breakfast is tasty and the location is superb. I like the Heathrow Express which takes me straight to Heathrow airport from Paddington Station. I have been to Hotel Cardiff several times, and I really recommend it. Since I don't want to climb the narrow stairs, I have been lucky each time to have a room on a lower floor. The staff is very nice and helpful. Next time in London I will be back in Cardiff Hotel.

After a long haul flight from New Zealand I arrived at Hotel Cardiff and was greeted by Alexandra, she was excellent and even arranged for my room to be cleaned as a priority so I could get some much needed sleep. In fact all the staff at this hotel were helpful, friendly and nice. I would recommend to friends and stay again!

The room is shockingly small. The stairs leading to rooms are tiny and difficult to climb even without any luggage. If you have big and heavy luggage then think twice. The only positive thing about this place is friendly staff but it does not compensate the clear deficiencies of this place. Look elsewhere!

The room was small but relatively clean. The bathroom facilities in room were ridiculously small. The reception lounge didn't make a good impression but the staff was polite, helpful and efficient. The breakfast room was clean and bright and the breakfast was typical and good. The breakfast room staff was very nice. The location is noisy due to the pubs nearby as well as the Paddington station. The beds in our room were very uncomfortable. All in all, not really good value for the money.

Room was quite small but big enough for 1. Was very hot during my stay and had a fan which was fine, but there were a few flies around in the room and a couple of ants. Reception offered to move me if I felt uncomfortable, but it wasn't that bad. A little dust around which was made obvious by using the fan. Had to carry luggage down stairs. No laundry service. Very friendly, helpful staff. Nice area with restaurants, cafes and pubs.

Value for monney is OK. But the hotel is very basic and I do not understand how it can get 3 ***! The room I hat was very small. I have never seen such a small bathroom. A budget hotel with basic service, ok for that price. A warm welcome, and ok breakfast. Problem was my room was on the 4th floor and there was no lift. The staircase was quite narrow so it was a bit tricky to go up carrying all your belongings with you. Small room, but it was clean and had everything you need. A bit low pressure in the taps though, and the toilet wouldn't flush properly. Wifi in room didn't work, but was ok on the ground floor. The staff was very nice and did everything they could to help.

First, the good: Cardiff was clean, beds were comfortable, room was bigger than I expected, but my expectations were low. It is clear some work has been done to improve the rooms with lighting and floors. Staff were helpful, including helping carry bags up stairs as there is no lift. Breakfast, which is included, was quite good and breakfast room was very pleasant, with enough room for guests. Now, the not so good: bathroom, while clean, was very small. Barely room to turn around, no place to put any shower products, except for edge of the tiny sink. You are only given one small bath towel. No hand towel or bath mat. And the floor will get wet from the shower! Bath products are disappointing - small packet of body wash/shampoo and a tiny bar of soap. The room was warm, and we had to prop the window open as it would not stay open on its own. There was noise from a compressor in the back, as well as plumbing noises and easily heard noise from other rooms and stairs, so had to sleep with earplugs. The stairs are very narrow, so I would think large luggage would be a challenge. And there is no A/C so staying in warmer weather could be uncomfortable. Very close to underground, on a pretty square. In London, you could do much worse for the price.

This is a terrific budget hotel! I was there while looking for an apartment and enjoyed my stay there tremendously. The single ensuite room is perfect for one person. There is just the right amount of space. The room was clean, the fixtures looked new, the room looked newly painted, and it was nice and quiet. There was great water pressure in the shower and the free WiFi gave a very strong signal! I didn't even have to use the WiFi booster I had brought along. Although there is no lift, the hotel staff kindly helped me with my bags. Because they were refurbishing the breakfast room, there was no breakfast served so I can't comment on that. I will definitely stay here again!

A single room is definitely that. I'm fairly tall but my shoulders touched the shower curtain and wall and kept bumping the shower handle with my shoulder. Bed was lumpy and definitely at an angle. Otherwise, room looked nice and while small was large enough for one. The area is great, you can walk 2 minutes to paddington station or check out all the restaurants nearby. 10ish minute walk to Hyde park. My room was on the 5th floor, and the stairs did make me question the safety in case of fire. All in all I would recommend the Cardiff. Good breakfast and position. The rooms (at least mine) need major refurbishment. The bathroom is way TOO small and if you are tall you will be very uncomfortable. My room was located under the street level, just in front of the breakfast room, and the window opened over an internal yard not so pleasant to look at.. My strong advice is to insist with the hotel to not be given a room at this level.

Sad looking hotel,my single room was just big enough to stand in.The shower was dreadful and there was no WFI as advertised. On the good side the staff at breakfast were very helpful.

NO FREAKIN' ELEVATOR. Do not go if you have anyone who is disabled, heavy luggage or small children that are in strollers. Very small room. Was afraid to open window in case it fell out. No real door handle. Only one outlet to plug anything in. No bar fridge. For a person walking everywhere it would have been great if this place had an elevator. Location and staff were terrific. Would pay more else where for the things I wanted.

Excellent location near Paddington (100m), easy to find (map, clear hotel sign), small green Norfolk Sq, nice eating surroundings. Friendly and helpful hotel staff, excellent breakfast, clean but chilly room (heater provided), window facing the wall of the next building, good bed, quietly, tea/coffee inside, no lift, luggage room, toilette either in the room (very small, 2 sq.m) or in the corridor (cheaper choice). Overall: good value for money for budget traveller.

while room are quite small (bathrooms too) they are clean and made up nicely each day. the staff are very helpful and friendly. the building is old, and made to be quiet between room. windows can be opened if desired, always a plus, the breakfast is great for the price, with both cold, and hot breakfasts made to order daily. the location next to paddington tube makes getting anywhere in london quite easy. the one factor which may put some people off is that there is no lift (elevator) for room above ground level. i really recommend this if one is looking for a nice place at a reasonable price.

A Spartan experience: prison cell-like single room at the 4th floor without elevator, narrow staircase to climb (breakfast room in the basement means 5 floors up and down daily!), single window letting cold in, shower in the room etc. No wireless Internet at the upper floors and no computer for the use of the guests - very unpleasant! Not at all three stars hotel as advertised. Instead the Polish staff of the hotel was excellent and tried to be of help (also carrying my luggage up and down). Location of the hotel is very convenient, near Paddington Station and ten minutes from the Hyde Park and the Kensington Gardens. Shops and restaurants around and a nice green square in front of the hotel. So if you do not plan to stay for long in your hotel room, try this hotel for its position and price. There are many worse hotels in London.

Location, location, location ... this hotel is located very close to the tube station which is great. Our room was fine. The only issue would be in the summer when it is really warm since there were not air conditioners. We did have room fans, but the only window looked out onto a shaft that did not provide ventilation. The AC was not a problem for us because the weather was nice when we visited. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was decent ... a nice thing to have taken care of. I would stay here again especially if it were not in the heat of summer ... unless they get AC. Again, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Perfect location! We have been to London many times over the past 20 years and Paddington is still the best location in town. The staff was extremely helpful and accomodating. We will be back!

I was not aware that a single shower implied that there was no toilet in the room. An even larger surprise was it to find that the shared toilet did not have a sink.

generally good service, the breakfast is good and the staffs are mostly friendly...but the name of the street which is the nearest exit at Paddington station to reach the hotel should be mentioned in the direction because there are more than 1 exit at the station

Great hotel. Staff is very friendly, breakfast is fine, location is great: close to Paddington station, on a quiet square. I had booked a small single room, which was really small, but fine nevertheless with everything I needed.

The rooms are very small so speace is tight but they are clean with comfortable beds. A fan was provided in the room as they are quite warm. Breakfast was good and the staff were friendly however breakfast is very early, and is over at 9am on all days execpt sunday which is 9.30am, so not ideal if you are hoping for a lie in in the morning! Location is good and close to the subway station. The price is very expensive for what you are getting but it is clean and location is good so its decicing what is important to you.

Great location a few minutes walk from Paddington Stn & trains to Heathrow. The single rooms are extremely small and the ensuite bathrooms tiny. Acceptable only for a one-night stop-over with no need to unpack. There is no lift. The staff is welcoming and well-informed; the breakfast excellent.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean but on the small side, particularly the bathroom, but as we were out and about for most of the time it more than met our needs and I would definitely go there again.
