Bed and Breakfast Villa Diana - Lizzanello

We spent 2 very enjoyable nights at Villa Diana during September 2005. Paolo was very welcoming and speaks excellent English. We stayed in one of two semi-detached, converted farm buildings, very similar to a French "gite" with full "mod cons" (TV, cooker, microwave, etc.). It is a very quiet and laid back place. There is an excellent, large, free-form swimming pool within the grounds which are extensive. You are surrounded by vines and fruit trees. We would recommend Villa Diana for a relaxing break. It is not cheap but we believe it offers good value for money. Although advertised as a B&B, it is really self catering accommodation where a DIY breakfast is provided. However, there is a good, family-run restaurant (no English spoken so be prepared) 2 minutes away just across the main road. Very reasonable and good quality. Lecce is lovely and full of interesting features. Otranto is not too far and worth a visit. A car is a must however.

A wonderful house of our own set amidst a vineyard in a walled gardens - secluded, quiet in the early season and just perfect. Our hostess was very attentive and helpful but equally was happy to leave us to our selves. Breakfast was DIY but the larder was very well stocked. Any comparison with even the better English B&B is ludicrous - just heavenly - thanks very much Diana

This has to be one of the very best B+Bs we have ever stayed in. The only problem is with locating it. The first day we were met and escorted but after that we were having problems especially at night due to the peculiarities of the Italian road signage and the roadworks/ building going on around Lecce. Nevertheless we would thoroughly recommend Villa Diana - we intend to return.

Paola met us late evening to help us locate property, we were then invited to join Paola and friends for bbq and drinks. Booked as b&b but in fact self catering suited us better. Family very wecoming,& helpfull.Wonderfull gardens.Would (and already have) recommended to friends. Thanks for great relaxing holiday.

We absolutely loved our holiday here and the family were so welcoming. At first we were a bit surprised as the villa was further from Lecce than we expected (it's a 15 min drive)but the family were so great and Paulo let us use his scooter. I'd definitely recommend hiring a car. The accomodation is wonderful, we had a lovely stone house with a little kitchen all to ourselves. The nearby beaches are very pretty and Lecce is beautiful. The people are friendly, it's very reasonably priced and not packed with tourists. It was a very peaceful, happy holiday and we're definitely going back.

We thoughroughly enjoyed ourselves apart from the noise from the functions but these did not bother us.

Villa Diana is a real haven of calm. It is incredibly beautiful and because it only has a small number of apartments we often had the whole place, including the pool, to ourselves. It is very close to the historic part of Lecce which we found to be the most beautiful town we visited throughout our stay and so we went there very often for dinner, shopping etc.

Fantastic setting, extremely quiet and tranquil stay, just what we needed

A fantastic villa - great for a relaxing long weekend, the villa is a 40 minute drive from Brindisi airport (Ryan Air flys direct to Brindisi from Stansted). We were made to feel very welcome and nothing we asked for was too much trouble. Overall a fantastic place.

Excellent property, lovely surroundings but our holiday was spoilt by a huge party arranged by the owners (no advance notification given to us) going on very noisily until 3.00 am! Live music, games, fireworks - right outside our bedroom window! Not an apology, nothing was said by the owners. They never spoke to us about it before or after the event. They never even said Goodbye. Shame that the wonderful property is spoiled by the family's inability to decide whether they want to run events or offer holiday accommodation. Clearly doing both is not acceptabl!

The accomodation and setting is excellent. The owners are very helpful. Make sure you obtain a clear and detailed map, outlining the exact location of the Villa. The sign for the Villa is not visible from the road when driving, and therefore it is easy to drive past. We would recommend it as a holiday venue, it is within 10 minutes of the centre of Lecce, yet peaceful and very rural.

Wonderful place. More like home from home. Lovely,friendly,helpful family. The only problem we had was finding the place after we were met and guided there initially. Very generous breakfast and absolutley spotless! We intend to go back with the family. I would recommend a detailed map to all guests.

We spent two weeks in Europe - with stops in Paris, Switzerland, Venice and Lecce. The Villa Diana provided the best service and accomodations of all our stops. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the accomodations were very spacious, comfortable and an excellent value. The surroundings were beautiful, peaceful, private and secure. It was the least expensive accomodations on our entire trip but it was definately the best in all aspects. I wish we had spent our entire trip in Lecce. We look forward to visiting the Villa Diana again.
