This bed and breakfast accomodation is right in the historic centre of Lecce. There is a roof terrace with views of the Duomo tower and circling swallows. We were in the roof top room which was very good for this class of accomodation, but really needed air conditioning or at the very least a ceiling fan to move the daytime heat. Also it was reached by a very steep set of stairs. If you have a car be warned that getting to a specific spot in the historic centre in Lecce is a nightmare because of the one way system. Even leaving Lecce centre is rather difficult. A good place to stay for 3 to 4 days.

Some one else wrote in their review the extreeme difficulty in driving outside the hotel,as quite simply you can't. Park up and walk to the hotel. If you have heavy bags and need to get outside the hotel grab a member of staff and get them to accompany you in the car. Aside from that don't get a room over looking the street as it can be noisey and the huge room at the front has poor sound insulation to the breakfast prep room, so staff woke us up at 7ish every morning. Location is superb, also nice roof terrace. Owner claims he doesn't take credit cards??? so we paid cash. Good for a weekend shopping, bars etc then rush back to the coast Monday.

I felt the cost of the room was too high. The price of the room was higher than quoted on the website. The lighting was poor in the room. The breakfast was just adequate, no fresh bread or croissants and not enough coffee, butter or jam. The biggest advantages were that the building was very beautiful and convenient for the centre.

The welcome and accommodation were excellent and the position in the centre of the medieval part of the city was very convenient, particularly for dining out in the evenings. Unfortunately we had no instructions as to how to find the hotel. We arrived in Lecce at the rush hour and spent a frustrating hour circling the centre finding it hard to stop and ask for help. It was with huge relief that we eventually found the Centro Storico and our hostess was able to escort us to a parking place. We should have asked for directions when we booked!

How to reach B&B Centro Storico

By car
From the S.S. Brindisi-Lecce street enter in Lecce, pass two roundabout and proceed straight until Viale De Pietro. Pass the traffic lights, coast the Public Gardens and take Viale XXV Luglio avenue. At the traffic lights, after 0.09 miles/150 metres you can see on your left the Castello Carlo V Castle. From here, please call the B&B and ask for the free entrance permit, necessary to enter and stop in the city centre close to the B&B.

By train
From Lecce railway station proceed along Viale O. Quarta Avenue until the traffic lights. Proceed straigh and take Via Cairoli street. Then take the fifth street on the right, Via Conti di Lecce street and reach San Matteo Church. Turn left onto Via D'Aragona and then right onto Via Vignes, where the B&B is situated.

By airplane

The suite directly overlooks the Cathedral, Duomo San Matteo e Santa Chiara. The room's ceiling boasts wooden beams and the floor is completely coated with parquet. An antique and newly restored 20th-century kitchen table, which now has become an ample dark nut colour desk, and two padded puffs from Morocco with a Liberty-style coffee table are some examples of the ethnical furnishings that charachterise this venue. Above the headboard, a Brasilian drape embodies two flirting coloured parrots that seem to be reflected on a Coconut-framed mirror.

Two hundred square metres of panoramic terrace overlooks the most beautiful monuments of Lecce, including the Cathedral, the San Matteo Basilica, and the Santa Chiara Church.

The whole area is coated with wooden beams and protected by linear wrought-iron frames. Another elevated area features sun-beds, while another area is reserved to relax and furnished with deck-chairs and tables.
