Bed and Breakfast Centro Storico - Lecce

Nice little place, with a huge rooftop patio shared with the other B&Bs in the building - great place to relax and have some wine, after the afternoon heat starts dying down. Very nice to have a fridge in the room, and the owners stock snacks for the guests - a juice box, some butter/jam/Nutella to along with some pre-packaged toasts. It's a nice touch. Fabulous location, a 10-12 minute walk from the train station but in the middle of the bustling old town, just steps away from bars and restaurants. It's located on a side street, so plenty quiet for sleeping in the spacious rooms with high, vaulted ceilings. Feels like a very traditional Italian building and flat. Breakfast is served offsite at a cafe less than a 5-minute walk away, on a nice typical square at Bar Cin Cin. It's simple, but good - great coffee with choice of a pastry or cornetto. Keep in mind the limited check in hours, before 20:30. The owner wasn't too happy when I showed up several hours after the agreed time, as I was coming from Albania and had issues with ferry delays, and was unable to call to warn him.

This bed and breakfast accomodation is right in the historic centre of Lecce. There is a roof terrace with views of the Duomo tower and circling swallows. We were in the roof top room which was very good for this class of accomodation, but really needed air conditioning or at the very least a ceiling fan to move the daytime heat. Also it was reached by a very steep set of stairs. If you have a car be warned that getting to a specific spot in the historic centre in Lecce is a nightmare because of the one way system. Even leaving Lecce centre is rather difficult. A good place to stay for 3 to 4 days.

Some one else wrote in their review the extreeme difficulty in driving outside the hotel,as quite simply you can't. Park up and walk to the hotel. If you have heavy bags and need to get outside the hotel grab a member of staff and get them to accompany you in the car. Aside from that don't get a room over looking the street as it can be noisey and the huge room at the front has poor sound insulation to the breakfast prep room, so staff woke us up at 7ish every morning. Location is superb, also nice roof terrace. Owner claims he doesn't take credit cards??? so we paid cash. Good for a weekend shopping, bars etc then rush back to the coast Monday.

I felt the cost of the room was too high. The price of the room was higher than quoted on the website. The lighting was poor in the room. The breakfast was just adequate, no fresh bread or croissants and not enough coffee, butter or jam. The biggest advantages were that the building was very beautiful and convenient for the centre.

The welcome and accommodation were excellent and the position in the centre of the medieval part of the city was very convenient, particularly for dining out in the evenings. Unfortunately we had no instructions as to how to find the hotel. We arrived in Lecce at the rush hour and spent a frustrating hour circling the centre finding it hard to stop and ask for help. It was with huge relief that we eventually found the Centro Storico and our hostess was able to escort us to a parking place. We should have asked for directions when we booked!
