Located high on a hill overlooking Grasse, with the Mediterranean in the distance, Coste d'Or has much to recommend it: stunning view, beautiful garden, helpful hosts, spacious room, and excellent breakfast. A minor disadvantage of its spectacular location is that the nearest shops and restaurants are at least 15 minutes away on foot. (Obviously quicker by car, but parking in town was sometimes difficult). The price was a little more than we paid for similar accommodations elsewhere on this trip. Although we found little of touristic interest in Grasse itself, it proved to be a good base to explore Vence, Tourette-sur-Loup, Gourdon, the Route Napoleon and the Gorge du Verdon. Art lovers will enjoy the Fondation Maeght at St.Paul.

On arrival in Grasse i wasn't able to get a cab because i arrived during lunch hours 12-3!!! so i called the hotel and asked if i could trouble them for a lift, the host actually came to collect me! and were very helpful in giving advice about bus/train services and on a few occassions actually walked me to places or dropped me off by car to places nearby that i was on my way to. If you can afford this hotel as it is rather expensive; i'd say stay here, the rooms are spacious and comfortable and very clean when i arrived. I slept like a baby every night here and my fellow guests were very polite and courteous. The meditteranean garden is just gorgeous, there is a swimming pool, an eating area overlooking the maritime Alps valley on towards the sea; and the views from the rooms are spectacular, you can see the Cannes in the distance and in the evening the lights in Cannes are the brightest! Also it's only a ten minute walk to the town centre and the bus station, if you fancy a bus ride into Cannes or Nice or any of the other lovely towns and cities along the Cote d'azure. I personally had a really wonderful stay here so i am awarding the Coste d'Or bed and breakfast 10/10 superb! and if i come back to Grasse, i will happily stay here again! Thank you Cost d'Or!! :-D

We had an exceedingly fantastic time at the Coste d'Or, though it was initially difficult to find and we arrived after midnight, having just driven from Paris the long way, through Grenoble, and thus approaching Grasse from the mountains. We hadn't been able to call first to warn them about our late arrival, and so had to wake up the host, who graciously welcomed us and let us into our beautiful room. I was so happy to see that bed, as I was very tired, and looking out the window at the ethereal hillside and mist in the distance, I could tell our view of the Mediterranean would be gorgeous the next morning, and it was. The house is also beautifully and carefully renovated, all painted by hand with mediterranean colors and full of furniture and decorations picked up by Pierre on his many travels around the world, particularly in Asia. Grasse itself is a town beyond comparison, as far as I could tell. It's being slowly restored, but even the buildings that have recently been painted still feel very old and the place has a great sense of history. All the buildings are stucco shades of yellow and orange and the place just glows. That and, considering its the 'Perfume Capital of the World,' most women walking around the place, particularly tourists, leave trails of jasmine and orange flower scent behind them. The perfume museum was mildly interesting and all the food we had was good, though a bit pricey. But the best thing was honestly just to walk around the old part of town and appreciate its unusual beauty. Grasse is also a great jumping off point to explore the region, and believe me, after fighting the crowds in Nice, Cannes, Monaco, and Monte Carlo, it was a huge relief to come back to Grasse in the evenings. The Coste d'Or was a lovely place to stay, a very easy walk into the old town with a billion dollar view perched on a high hilltop looking out over a valley and the sea in the distance. The garden descends several stories below the house, down the hills

This was our first stay in a Chambre d"Hote and it was fantastic. The Coste d'Or is a large home with breathtaking views of the sea which lies about 15 miles away. Peter and Matine who own the home are pretty much invisible unless you need something. Breakfast appears magically each morning. There is ample free parking which can be tough in Grasse. The rooms are simple but lovely. We had a balcony as did several other rooms. The location is excellent if you want to be somewhat removed from the crowds and plan to travel around the Cote d'Azur and nearby areas of Provence. I would go back any time I could.

We stayed during the first week in September 2008. The rooms are decorated beautifully with a lot of care and the building is wonderful. a wonderful view overlooking Grasse out to the sea towrads Cannes. Lovely gardens although rather wild and overgrown but a pleasant place to relax with your breakfast in the shade. The owners are charming and give you the possibility of doing your own B-B-Q in the garden if you like. Great surroundings. It is close enough to the centre of Grasse to go without taking the car. Rather difficult to find but worth the effort.

What a great place! We were warmly welcomed, and the host actually upgraded us to the Amber room out of the goodness of her heart. It was so nice, we had the whole top floor, an apartment with breathtaking views, all to ourselves. The pictures on the website don't do the Amber room justice. The breakfasts were sublime and the garden area was delightful. Do not miss this place!

\Coste d'Or was high on the hill above the city. The view from our room day or night was outstanding. And the walk to the old portion of Grasse was only a few minutes, and quite a slop, away. The room was spacious and private. It exceeded our expectations.

Very nice hotel, in a beautiful area, with an excellent view. The family that manages the hotel is always available for everything. The room is cleaned at arrival, but then is no more cleaned during the stay (I've been there for four days). You have to ask for it.

Actual quality of room and breakfast surpassed our already high expectations. We had a warm welcome by the owners of the Coste d' Or who also helped us finding a restaurant nearby and gave us valuable advice for our stay in southern France. The Coste d'Or can only be recommended. We will come back for sure.

A stone's throw from Cannes and the coast, Grasse is a haven of peace where the gentle pleasures of life can be enjoyed.
