The Soggiorno Casa di Barbano was perfect for our needs. It is within walking distance of all the major attractions, but away from the major crowds and noise. The room was pleasant, the shower worked well, and having breakfast served in our room was delightful. The concierge was very friendly, and made all the phone calls to arrange museum tickets for us. I would highly recommend the Casa di Barbano.

I've stayed in at least half a dozen different hotels in Florence. My time at Casa di Barbano was by far the most enjoyable! As a visitor to a bi-annual trade fair ( Pitti Immagine Filati ) held at the Fortezza da Basso Convention Center, this location was incredibly convenient-- a quick 5 minute walk away. After a morning of intense meetings I could walk back "home" to the Casa for a rejuvenating nap -- the very best cure for jet lag and a major effectiveness multiplier in my afternoon meetings. Dietary restrictions prohibit much of Florentine cuisine for me, so I was thrilled to find a restaurant just a few blocks away from the Casa - il Vegetariano -- that met my needs with style and boundless charm. One can build a custom meal-sized salad there from the freshest ingredients for 6 Euros! Tables are shared, bringing together a diverse creative neighborhood with like minds from around the world. Casa di Barbano is family owned and operated, which provided a unique sense of welcome and support -- it was like meeting for the first time Italian relatives and being instantly absorbed into their inner circle. I have a small business and so do they, so we had excellent discussions of mutual interest. I also saw this extended family relationship working very well for parents with children, since the primary owner/manager is a working mom with young kids in local schools. The Casa's gracious hostess is also an artist and native English speaker who loves music -- it was wonderful to return after a tiring day and hear the sound of opera coming from her office. I found the Casa very quiet -- an easy place to recover from jet lag. For anyone attending an event at the Fortezza da Basso, Casa di Barrbano should be at the top of your list of lodgings to consider. This is also true for parents of students at the University -- a very short walk away, Casa di Barbano has an air of romance -- i did see honeymooners there, who seemed quite happy!

This is a wonderful bed and breakfast - close enough to walk where we wanted to go, but out of the way of a lot of traffic and people. Moraq is fabulous hostess. She suggested things to do and see, and called the concert hall to inquire about tickets for us. Breakfast, brought to the room, was warm and tasty and plenty of it. I would stay here again and would recommend it highly.

We stayed at this place for 2 nights and it was quite nice for the price paid. The room was very spacious and clean. The owner was an excellent hostess and provided us with very good information of tourist attractions upon checking in. We would definitely stay there again.

Moraq is very nice and very helpful. Location is good. Room (# 3) is VERY small - nowhere for luggage - no towel rails or hooks in bathroom - no toilet roll holder - all simple things to fix and all simple things that would make the room more workable. Plenty of hot water and pressure in shower - no hot water at vanity basin. Towels only changed every second day. Sheets not changed during our 5-night stay. No in-room safe. Breakfast is basic croisants, rolls, cakes, biscuits and tea/coffee. We got yoghurt 2 of our 5 mornings. A good general clean would help as well.

What a great place to stay when in Florence. Our stay was for 4 nights. We were immediately greated by the assist. desk clerk upon our arrival and shown to our room. When the hostess, Moraq, returned from lunch she promptly came to our room to introduce herself and to offer her assistance with navigating the area. Breakfast was delivered on time each morning directly to the room. There was a basket of rolls, toast and jams, along with delicious hot croissants, and plenty of hot coffee and orange juice to wash it all down. There was usually someone at the front office and if not, there was a pager to ring the hostess at anytime. Rooms were spacious, nicely decorated and clean. B&B was an easy 10 minute walk from the train station which made it very convenient. And, we felt very safe with the location. Overall, a very nice value for the money with a fantastic hostess, Moraq.

A 2-night stay did not necessarily lead to socialising with other people, and was also not the intent. The hostess was most gracious and helpful, and the accommodation fulfilled all our needs. The only suggestion that I could make is the addition of a kettle and tea and coffee making facilities.

We stayed at this B&B for 3 nights and certainly enjoyed the comfort and cosiness of this small charming hotel. It is actually a family home led by the extremely nice Moraq. She lives next door with her husband and 2 kids. The bedrooms are large and ellegantly decorated, old-style charming. She brings you breakfast to the room every morning at the time you chose. It's very convenient to step out of the shower and enjoy a relaxed breakfast at your own room: juice, coffee, bread, croissants, nutella, jams, butter, yogourt... More than enough! It is located a short walk from Santa Maria Novella rail station and around 10 minutes walk to the Duomo. Very good value for money too in a city like Florence (there are plenty of ugly not quite cheap hotels in the vicinity), so Casa di Barbano is a great choice!

Moraq is the greatest! She made our honeymoon so very special by placing rose petals on our bed one evening. She speaks perfect english and told us how to navigate the city! She served us breakfast at 8:00 sharp that included coffee, juice and rolls with jam! It was an honor to meet such a lovely woman in Florence. Her price was great and the B&B is only about 10 min walk to the train station.

Charming! Just the perfect place for time spent in Florence. Very clean and nicely kept. The only confusing thing that could be improved upon is directions TO the property from the train station. (we got lost and had to hail a cab to take us there.)

Casa Di Barbano is operated by Moraq, whom is a wonderful B&B host: she is welcoming, helpful, and at hand to provide guidance on Firenze and the surrounding regions. Language is not an issue, as Moraq speaks both fluent Italian, English, etc. The location of Casa Di Barbano is approximately 600m away from Florences’ Santa Maria Novella train station. It is an easy walk (5/10 mins) to a quite residential road, opposite the Hotel Arianna on Via Barbano. It is easy to find from the station. I found that the B&B’s central position allowed me to walk to the centre of Florence main sites with 10/15 minutes: Uffizi Gallery, Accademia Gallery, Piazza della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio and the Duomo cathedral. There are only three B&B rooms, each with their own ensuite shower rooms. The rooms are quite elegant, with high ceilings, tall windows that allows light in, and the high ceilings helped keep the room cool. I found this ok (it was 30C outside), but each room has its own air condition unit. The room is equipped with a TV (local channels), small key operated safe, lots of storage cupboards. The only draw back was that there was nowhere to hang wet towels to dry – I just placed mine on the back of the wooden chairs. This is a lovely place to stay for a weekend or a week to discover Firenze and the surrounding areas – I would certainly stay at this location again.

This is a wonderful and cosy B&B. The owner was very friendly and helpful. She takes great pride in her beautiful B&B and the warmly-furnished area makes us feel at home instantly. The breakfast was fresh and sufficient and the owner also offered to bring forward our breakfast 15 min early in order to help with our train departure.

Very friendly welcoming, ready to answer all our questions. Many touristic guides and art books in several langages available during the stay. Room was really spacious, nicely furnished with taste. Breakfast (served in bedroom) was good and copious, nicely served at the planned time. Moreover heating was very efficient (despite cold weather outside). Very quiet street, 5mn walk from first interesting spot (San Marco convent with Fra Angelico fresco), 10mn walk from historical city centre (Dome). Useful valet service for the car (with additional charge).

We enjoyed our stay very much! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The bed was in very good condition. Quiet location. The only problem was the continuous music from the reception until midnight, which was certainly meant to create a nice atmosphere. But if you just want to fall asleep it can be annoying. Anyway it is possible to switch it off!

We stayed in Florence for 3 days. The room was clean enough but not very lightly. We raccomend to inform the owner of the B&B at least one hour before the arrival, because she doesn't stay there all day long. The breakfast was very good, served in the bedroom. The price is appropriate.

This place is lovely. Ideal for a city trip: enjoy the Florence day- and nightlife and then come back to this haven of peace and quiet. The room is beautiful and the en suite facilities more than adequate for a B&B. that breakfast was served in the room was a nice plus as well.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa di Barbano. Breakfast served in our room each morning was traditionally Italian - coffee, croissant and a roll with a variety of spreads. My favorite is Nutella. Our room was clean. It could use a couple of minor repairs in the bath - the soap dishes were not secure. And a towel rack would be helpful. Our hostess was pleasant and very helpful.

The owner was very nice and really helpuful. The room had old furniture, but in good shape. The electr.lights in the room were kind of low, and the hot water in bathroom was warm and not hot...The first night we were the only people in the B&B. Breakfast was served in our bedroom.

Casa di Barbano is exactly what I expected, antique furniture, lovely soothing music, clean crisp towels, clean rooms, quiet location (as quiet as a city can get)......Moraq, a transplanted American, provides exceptional service to make your stay personal, from making reservations at the galleries, restaurants, or tours. She takes pride in her residence and is available most hours as she actually resides on the premises, atypical for Europe. As an American, having someone who understands English and American standards was comforting. This being said, the residence is not an American hotel in Florence, but rather quaint charming refuge from the hectic city life in Florence. The breakfasts were the best in all of our stays, yogurt, pastries, fresh coffee....The location was away from the maddening crowds which we liked, but if you want the action, you should stay elsewhere.

Upon arrival our room was not quite ready and Moraq allowed us to leave all our bags so we could go have luncn and do some sightseeing. She was great about providing us with a map, orienting us with Florence, and recommending restaurants. The common area is a nice place to sit and Moraq has an armoire full of books on Florence, Italy, and travelling for her guests to use. After long days of visiting Florence, it was a nice place to come back to and Moraq plays relaxing music in the common areas in the evenings. One downside was the bathroom; the toilet seat was loose and it would not stay up. The bathroom was very dim, dated, and the shower water fluctuated betwwen hot and cold every 30 seconds. However, this was a great value for the price. Moraq helped us with our connecting train and provided a great map of Chianti. I would recommend this B&B to anyone on a budget.

We only stayed one night but received excellent, friendly service. The rooms are the typically small European style room with tiny bathroom but it was fine for the one night. Breakfast was fresh orange juice, coffee, yogurts and an assortment of fresh and packaged rolls. The location was very convenient and on a small side street which helped minimize the night noise. We would recommend this location to anyone needing a centrally located room who doesn't have a lot of luggage or need tons of space.

Good location and good hosts/service. However, the place is a run-down B&B. The walls need paiting, the bathroom fixtures need substantial changes, the towels are old and rough and must be changed. From a B&B, and what we were paying for, you would expect a much better home-made breakfast - instead it is not even average. The hostess is very helpful, and that was the saving grace for us.

Our stay here was very pleasant. The decent shower was great. We would have liked cereal and fruit for breakfast as us New Zealanders are not big on sweet things in the morning. The only draw back was its distance to the main square in town but helped us walk off all the food we ate. The staff were very helpful and welcoming.

We had a good deal of fun at Moraq's place. It is a great base of operations and is close to all that Florence has to offer without being in the scooter and tourist strewn thick of it. I really enjoyed strolling back after a long day of site seeing and gelato eating and wine drinking simply knowing that I would be returning to a quiet place to relax and sleep. Moraq was very helpful with setting up reservations at the Uffizi (do this or suffer) and was informative about our next destination via the Eurostar. Time saving advice is always appreciated and never forgotten.

We enjoyed our stay at B&B Soggiorno Casa di Barbano. The owner was very helpful and reserved tickets for the Uffizi and Accademia museums for us so we did not have to wait in the long line ups. She also stored our luggage for us while we went sightseeing. Breakfast was the standard fair of tea/coffee, brioche, yoghurt, biscuits and jam/creamcheese. It was nice that the owner provided our breakfast earlier than usual since we had an early morning museum entrance time. The only part of the B&B that I did not like was the bathroom. It was very small--the shower was tiny and there was no place to hang towels. The residence is quite far from the main attractions (25-30 minute walk to the Uffizi). The restaurant she recommended was ok--but not as good as the Trattoria "VinOlio" which is nearby. Overall, it was a nice place to stay.

Moraq was wonderfully helpful in giving us directions and suggestions of where to go and where not to go. She also helped us with our accomodations at our next location. Since she lived in the US prior to coming to Italy 11 years ago, she has mastery of English, allowing us easy communication. The location was easy walking distance to all sights in Florence. It was located within a couple of blocks of the train and bus station, allowing us to walk to and from, even with luggage. Though there was a rundown park a couple of blocks away, we felt safe both day and night. We went to Italy for relaxation and siteseeing within a teacher's budget; Soggiorno Casa di Barbano helped accomodate that. Terrific value for the money. I'd stay there again and I'd suggest it to friends. The smallness (3 rooms) allowed us to better feel the culture of Italy.
