We were shocked when we had seen our room, or more precisely - the prison cell. There is no space to turn around. We dropped our things and clothes right on the floor. A room is very noisy starting from the early morning till late night. Shower is very small. The only place to seat is on the bed. The room itself leaves very oppressive feelings. Probably it would be fine for a sole traveler and with a single bed but definitely not for a couple. After several nights I came to the reception and asked them why the hell they gave us such a small room? After that for the last two nights they gave us a room "for four" (without extra charges). I don't know how four persons could stay in that room unless they are not pigmies. Their room "for four" is actually a minimum room for a couple. In general, there is no point to stay in the center of Florence and to pay extra money because historical part of Florence is very compact and extra 5-10 minutes of walk will not make a difference. In addition, the restaurants and cafés are ridiculously expensive in the center and the central area is very noisy. It's understandable that the owners of the hotel want to squeeze every buck out of the property but they go too far...

We LOVED this B&B, it was our honeymoon trip and they had a bottle of champagne in the room for us waiting, we had a room outside the actual B&B which was nice, it was quite for the most part, I think her name was (Anja) she was so sweet and came in and cleaned the room everyday, was awlays there to answer our questions, she was GREAT! Definatly made the stay worth it. We even stayed an extra day in Florence because we like the place so much. The B&B was right outside one of the main squares and the street were so fun at night to hang out in. Right in the center of everything this place is a must!! We would go back if we ever get to florence again. Cant say enough good things, Breakfest, service, staff, location all fabulous. Repubblica B&B is a must!!!

The location of B&B Republica is superb! Access to Piazza del Duomo, Pallazo Pitti, Piazza della Signora, Ponte Vecchio are all within walking distance. Even the Church of Santa Croce where Michelangelo's tomb is found and the Piazzale Michelangelo can be reached on foot. The breakfast room is open all day with free-flow of hot beverage and hot and cold water. Host Mario is always at hand to help and offer additional information. What could be improved though is to provide detailed information of how to get to the garage.

Wonderful city, wonderful room. It really made me feel part of the whole experience of being in Florence. Yes there are church bells but there have to be in the centre. The staff were very helpful above and beyond the call of duty. The room was spacious, very high ceiling, very tastefully decorated. Breakfast room was nice and you could have coffee at any time of the day. Lots of shops near by and close to all tourist attractions, including the Ponte del Vecchio. Overall, I would recommend this place to anyone except those with young children (there was a elevator but it was small).

This is an excellent B&B, within walking distance of all the major attractions in Florence. It's right on one of the main city squares. Free internet access! Daily breakfast and espresso are always available, and it's serve-yourself so you can come and go as your please.

Fantastic location, one block to Ponte Vecchio and a little more to Duomo! Rooms lovely and breakfast good. Staff very helpful. Street noise high due to location but too tired and happy to care! Breakfast room overlooking Piazza Repubblica. Definitely would stay there again!

Great place. Our only problem was that the city waste disposal team does their business right outside the window (we had room 4) in the wee hours of the night. And is loud. Not easy to get over jet lag in this situation.

This is a great location for exploring Florence. Although it wasnt particularly quiet due to being on a main square, it was no more than we expected if we wanted to be in the hustle and bustle of Florence.

The staff were terrific - we ended up staying an extra 4 days due to illness and Mario and staff (William & Victoria) could not have been more supportive. The location in perfectly central to all of Florence. The Square does have lots of people and activity so it is a little noisy...didn't really disturb our sleep that much. Would definitely recommend. Thanks

If you would like to get around Firenze by foot, this is suitable for your needs. Not only location, but you would get the neat and clean room, and also Mr, Mario's heart-warming hospitality. When I visit Firenze again, I would stay at B&B Repubblica again. I didn't ming the noise frome the Repubblica Square. Not so noisy. Finding this B&B was a little bit difficult for us. If your right hand point to la Rinascente, your back is the place.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at B&B Republicca, from it's location to our warm greeting and lesson in coffee making from Mario. The B&B is noisy from the lively atmosphere at the Piazza Repubblica, but it was also great to watch the passing scene from our balcony!! Great restaurant recommendations were appreciated! Thanks Mario and Mattais for a wonderful finish to our Italy trip.

My friends and I just returned from 3 weeks traveling around Italy and I can say that by far our favorite hotel was the BB Repubblica. We wanted to stay in the center of town and the location of BB Repubblica could not be better. It is right on the Piazza Repubblica and is a short walk from everywhere in the city: the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Accademia dell'Arte, the Uffizi and more. It is a perfect location for exploring the city on foot. The proprietor, Mario, is a delightful man who is always smiling and ready to help guests with suggestions for restaurants and shopping, etc. The hotel itself is very cute and is in a building with a lift so climbing stairs after a long day of sight-seeing is not an issue. The rooms are very well decorated with real wood furnishings painted in an Italian style and over-sized copies of famous paintings in each room. The rooms are very clean and although the bathrooms are small (typical for Europe) they are beautiful and spotless. We had a triple so having the 3rd bed in the room made it a little cramped but if it were just 2 people the room would be ample size. We had a room in the back so we did not have a view but that also made it very quiet at night. The breakfast was self-serve and available anytime with fresh croissants and yogurt provided in the morning but coffee and other snacks available throughout the day. The breakfast room has a phenomenal view overlooking the piazza. The only thing that could be improved on is the internet situation. It was a working holiday for me and I need to use my own laptop but there was no wireless internet so this was not possible. There is an internet point in the front entry of the hotel with a computer available 24 hours a day for guest use so it is convenient if you just need to check email or things like that. I would absolutely stay at BB Repubblica on my next visit to Florence and have already recommended it to some friends going there in December.

Excellent location, nice room and good breakfast. The surrounding area is a little bit noisy in the night, but consider that you are in the heart of the city. Employees are friendly and helpful. Internet connection and guidebooks are available for guests.
