This was a great stay! The room was huge, especially the bathroom with double sinks and big soaking tub. The bed was comfortable, it was a quiet neighborhood, and breakfast was good. The young girl that checked us in was very nice and extremely helpful, as was Graziella, the proprietor. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to other people visiting Florence.

Panella's residence is true find for a traveller. Graziella Panella was warm and inviting and made us feel like we were part of her family. We emailed ahead and she made resevations for us at the Accademia and the Uffizi. When we arrived in Italy our bags were delayed in the States. It was a process to get the bags from Milan to Florence, Graziella told us to enjoy our vacation, she went above and making sure we received our luggage. She cooked fresh pastries for breakfast and made fruit salad. Her husband makes an excellent latte, espresso and cafe Americano. The room was quite and spacious and all the sites are within a 5-15 minute walk. I would recommend this hotel and stay there the next time I'm in Florence.

Great Bed and Breakfast. Wonderful Hostess! She was always so helpful. It was in a great location very close to the Dumo. For some the only draw back might be the stairs. We had to walk up 2 flights to our room and then one more flight to our bedroom, but we loved it. I would stay there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed Panella's Residence. The location was central to all the attractions and the rooms and service were wonderful. The only downside is the steep stairs, but the owner was very willing to provide assistance with luggage.

What a wonderful place to stay in Florence. We traveled with 3 older daughters and they enjoyed Panella's residence as much as we did. Great hostess...easy parking.....walk to everything....live the history of the building! You have to love walking up steps but if you can manage that okay then this is the perfect place to stay in Florence.

The warmth of the greeting and the level of hospitality in this small inn lift it well above the ranks of the usual bed and breakfasts in this part of Italy. The owners are very much in residence. The Panellas family have owned this town house for 7 generations. They are there to help at any point at which help is needed. Futhermore they even helped us with our bags--something we never encountered at other similar small inns. The rooms, while not large, are more than adequate, and are charmingly decorated. The inn is within a 5 minute walk of the Duomo and the heart of Rennaisance Florence. The Uffizi and the Acadenia were a short stroll away. We were able to walk everywhere. Breakfast were good and the special dietary requirements of one of our party were cheerfully accomodated.

Stayed in Florence for 3 days in October. Panella's was a great place to stay for the time we were there. The couple running the B&B were welcoming and helpful. The location is exceptional--close to the city highlights such as : Duomo, Uffizi and Accademia Gallery of Florence. Our room was spacious, very clean and made up everyday. The shower was larger than we expected. This was enough for my husband to enjoy his stay. He had been struggling with the shower sizes in the last couple of places we stayed in Rome and Siena. The breakfast was continental at best. The rest of the residence is quite clean and we hardly heard the other guests. Unfortunately, the temperature was way below average and heating was an issue. I don't think they are allowed to turn on the heat until November. Overall, Panella's Residence did exceed our standard.

I very much enjoyed my stay at Panella's. The location was perfect, near all the sites, yet off the beaten path enough to be quiet at night. The hosts were wonderful, chatted with me at breakfast, recomendations for restaurants were outstanding. The room was spotless, and comfortable. If they could get a safe for each room it would be nice too. Being in a residential area, there was a laundrymat nearby and a grocery store if you needed anything.

Traditional 15th century house on quiet backstreet, but within 3 minutes walk of Duomo and Art Academy. 10 minutes walk to Uffizi. This is a family run B&B and you will be made to feel part of the family. Ms. Panella is a delightful hostess, she speaks English and will look after you. Our room was an enormous suite and it was a long trek from the bed to the bathroom. Very nice breakfast in the old basement stable. You will have to haul suitcases up at least one long, steep flight of steps.

What an outstanding stay! We were graciously welcomed by Graziella and Giuseppe, who doted on us the entire trip. The only comment is that the website is not correct about the distance to the train station. It says 500 meters, and it's more like 1500--not too bad, until we decided to walk with all our luggage. All in all, I would highly recommend Panella's, and we will most certainly stay there again when we inevitably return to Firenze.

What a wonderful place. Graziella & Giuseppe Panella could not have been more welcoming and helpful throughout our 5 night stay in Florence. They were so accomodating, Graziella even had telephone conversations with Italian friends of ours to be sure we were all set. We stayed in the 2 level suite (be sure you don't mind lots of stairs!) which was more than we ever needed but quite nice. Good sized bathroom, clean, super location. Would definitely stay here again.

Graziella and Giuseppe are the inn keepers. They are very nice. Graziella speaks fair English, Giuseppe very little. They always make themselves present when a new guest arrives and extend a warm welcome. The home(inn) is over 500 years old and used to be a convent. The rooms are spacious by European standards, however, just average by American standards. It is just three blocks from the Duomo, five or six blocks to the Accademia (Statue of David. Dispite the noise on the street the room was very quite. The breakfast consisted of a cup of yogart and a slice of cake. I carried in my own granola. Florence is perhaps 20 by 20 blocks. You can walk from any location to the historical sites within 15 minutes. There really is no need to pay a premium price to be a few blocks from the Duomo. Shop around. I did not. I'm uncertain of other hotel rates but I'll be more savvy next time and consider staying a few more blocks away. We paid 160 Euros/night (about $215/night) Yes, I would go back to Panella's Inn if the other options were similarly priced.

This place was a real find! We are a couple in our early forties from California. We wanted to stay in Firenze and be close to all the sights, but have a quiet, comfortable, charming place as our home base. The location was excellent to see all the sights of Firenze. Just two blocks from the Duomo, half a block from the Symphony, one block from an internet cafe and a laundromat. Easy walking distance to the Uffuzi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Boboli Gardens, etc. The place is very clean and in a quiet part of town. It is very old and has been beautifully converted into modern apartments while keeping all of its old world ambiance and charm. Graziella and Giuseppe Panella are a wonderful couple and were very helpful for us when we needed "concierge" help with bus arrangements or a suggestion for a nice restaurant, etc.. We stayed in Room 41, the one with the huge bathroom. It was perfect: quiet, comfortable bed, lots of hot water, little refrigerator, huge closet, and nicely furnished with special antiques. Breakfast was yummy and filling. We would definately stay here again.

It was as exactly as we saw on others' reviews. We would definetly recommend it to others. The B & B is run by the nicest people possible, Mr. and Mrs. Panella; and the place is located right near the center, but not too center where it could be noisy. Finding the street is easy, but finding the B & B was not as easy. Look for No."42" on the wall right by the door. You will find a tiny plate saying, "Panella's" right under it. Mrs. Panella told me that they wanted the guests to feel at home as if they were staying with the family rather than staying in a hotel. This is probably why the sign is rather modest. Mr. and Mrs. were really generous. Mrs.(Graziella) reserved both Uffize and Academia Museums for us, as we told her of our interest in both places. The restaurant that Graziella recommended for us was great. The room was really clean and spacious. It seems that in a place like Firenze, where the buildings are standing right by each other, it would be difficult to find a room with a view, Panella's was not an exception. But what can you expect more, our stay in Firenze turned out to be a great one thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Panella.

the location is good - right in the center of the city and the room (double superior)we had is quiet and clean.it is overall a nice property. but we are not very satisfied in comparison with other two places we stayed during our Italian trip. we paid more than double the price we paid at Rome and Venice (the property at venice is as nice as this one) and thought this would be a special treat for us. but the bedroom is the smallest with basic furnitures among the three B&B. The bathroom is spacious with colorful tiles, which didn't help much when we wanted to have more room to move around in the bedroom. the fresh made cappuccino is good, but overall breakfast was very simple. we were surprised to have plastic packaged croissant served, while we were served fresh bakery at other two places ( we were also served with ham, cheese, fresh fruit at the other two places. at venice, we also had fresh flower, chacolate and small bottle of champion kindly offered by the owner when she learned it was our honeymoon). overall, our expereince is kind of dissappointed for the price we paid and the expectation of a luxory treatment, especially with comparison with other two places at a much less cost.

The front of the property truly hides what lies behind the doors. As the taxi dropped my sister and I on this rather deserted narrow street I was a bit concerned. Behind the door to Panella's is a beautiful, warm home, richly furnished with Italian antiques. Graziella and Guiseppe could not have been more welcoming and quickly relieved us of our heavy luggage and carried it upstairs to our room. The room was large, nicely furnished and clean. The bathroom was small but typical of Italian homes and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was limited to yogurt, fruit juices, muffins but the cappucino's Guiseppe made were delicious. We had to leave early in the morning to catch a train and Guiseppe got up early, called us a taxi and loaded our luggage into the taxi. The location is great, only a ten minute walk to the Duomo. Graziella recommended an unbelievable restaurant for dinner just around the corner (Il Gusto??). The food was out of this world and one of the best meals I had in all of Italy The only negative remark I have is that I had tried to modify my reservation before leaving Canada as my flight was changed. Venere does not permit you to modify and I did not want to take the chance to cancel the whole reservation and try to rebook. I sent Venere an e-mail but they did not reply until I had left Canada. I called Panella's when I got to Italy but Graziella could not do anything about it as I had to go through Venere. I had to pay for an extra night and was most unhappy about this.

I turned the knob, not knowing what to expect. In Europe the bathrooms are normally very small and it takes awhile to get hot water in the shower - if you get any at all. However, Panellas place, which would be our residence for the next 7 days, seemed inviting from the beginning. The home had history dating back to the 1300s where the nuns from the convent would keep their horses in the basement stalls. Mr and Mrs Panella had been able to keep the history while adding modern efficiencies. The horse stalls were now quaint breakfast nooks, the bathrooms were large, and the water? AAHHHHHHHHH, the water was warm. Mr and Mrs Panella were extremely helpful and we were sad to have to leave when the time came.

My son and I had a great time at Panella's. The room was gigantic (by Italian and US standards)and very clean. The bathroom was big, modern and very clean. The breakfast was very continental, but that is what we like so it was fine for us. If you want bacon and eggs you might have to arrange it with the owners the night before. Graciella and Giuseppe were really nice people and between our broken Italian and their English we managed to have a few conversations. The location was good albeit we had a front room and it was very noicy even late at night. We have already recommended this bed and breakfast to friends and plan to book again when we visit Florence in the future.

My wife and I ran the Florence Marathon on November 23. We were looking for a quiet, comfortable and relaxing B&B to accomodate our needs and found exactly that at Panella's. The owners were exceptionally friendly throughout our six night stay. They provided us with fantastic dinning recommendations and friendly conversation at breakfast. Our room (#42) was clean, comfortable, spacious and amazingly quiet - we were never disturbed by the buzz of Vespa's or other noise in the building. The location couldn't have been better - just a short stroll to the Duomo through pleasant neighborhood streets, with many shops, bars, restuarants and markets nearby. It's difficult to think of anything that could've been changed to make our stay more enjoyable - perhaps expanding the breakfast offering of rolls, coffee and juice to include fresh fruit and/or a selection of meats and cheeses? It was also a bit of a challenge to navigate the rather steep stairs after running the marathon but the comfort of the bed was well worth the effort. The rest of our vacation took us to a four-star hotel in Venice and a Hyatt in Paris - both of which cost much more than Panella's and didn't come close to matching our visit with Guiseppe and Gracella (Panella's owners). We not only highly recommend this facility to Firenze travelers but look forward to returning to Panella's again in the future. Anytime you get a big hug at the end of your stay from your hosts you know you've found a perfect spot!

The street where the residence is located is noisy during the night (music / cars / motorbikes). It was indicated that we could pay with the credit card, but the owner said us that the credit cards machine had a problem ... was it because of the commission? maybe ... in fact we had to pay cash, but we didn't believe that the machine had really a problem. It was difficult to find the residence's location. Hopefully we had a GPS... It was indicated on the website that the residence has got a garage for the clients, but we had to leave our car in the street in front of the residence.
