Florio was a very accomodationg host. The room was comfortable and in a great location. 5 minute walk to the tran station as well as resturants, shopping, and sights. Grocery store right next door to stock the small fridge. A second window has been installed that keeps all noise out. There is also an electric security/blackout shade that does not allow ANY light in at all. The tile floor is heated in the bathroom and the hallway. I would stay here again and would recommend this B & B to anyone.

I found this an excellent place to stay. It is within walking distance to all the sites you want to visit in Florence and so close to the train station. Florio was the perfect host in welcoming us to the Old Florence Inn. We would definitely go back.

When we arrived at Old Florence Inn, Victoria was more than helpful and accommodating in getting us settled in. For a B&B the room was very charming and comfortable, and the location is probably not the best in Florence, but right by (around the corner, actually) from the train station. Making it easy to depart/arrive for a day trip to Pisa or Cinque Terre if you like. We were a little put off by the breakfast situation. They don't have a kitchen or eating area so breakfast came in packaged foods sitting out on the table in your room. No big deal, but usually a B&B does a little more effort on the second "B." The restaurants recommended by the staff were okay, but Florence obviously could do much better. We later realized that three of the four places they suggested were owned by the same person(s), which made us think there was maybe some sort of a relationship or arrangement going on. All in all, a very nice stay.

Best B&B ever, much better than the 4-star hotel we stayed at in Rome. Breakfast prepared in the room - perfect for people who always wake up after 11 (like us!) so you don't miss it ;-) The manager was the best guy on earth, very nice and generous and help us A LOT! Will definitely return when I go back to Florence.

Pleasantly surprised when the inn keeper took the extra effort to allow us to keep luggage till late evening even though he had to come back to open the door for us on a Saturday. Very warm and welcoming to us. Reasonable Pricing and location is just 3 mins frm train station. Shopping streets are also nearby. Will definitely come back here for accomodation. My wife and I are just delighted with the choice of hotel.

Lovely quiet room, (No. 7!); very prettily decorated; with a great private bathroom. It was nice to have the opportunity to make tea and coffee with the kettle provided; and I liked having CNN available on the TV. So easy to get to and from the Railway Station too. I am definitely going to be back!

Old Florence Inn is close to S.Maria Novella Train and Bus Station and very close to the Centro Storico. The Receptionist was very helpful with giving uns directions to a very good restaurant close by (I'Brincello), which is frequented by locals (and tourists as well!). The food was great and cheap. The rooms are nice, with nice furniture, a breakfast-tray (with an italian breakfast) is on a table in the room. The rooms are not that spacious, but in all city-hotels we have seen in Italy or France there is not that much room to spare. However, there was still enough room to be comfortable. If we come back to Florence, Old Florence Inn will be our pick again!

The Old Florence Inn is located in the heart of Florence. All major touristic sights of Florence can be reached within 10 minutes walking. The train station with good bus connection to the airport is just around the corner. The room is for this location quite spacious and our bathroom was very new and clean. Even the shower worked very well, which is not common in most big hotel chains. The staff, I guess it was the manager, was very friendly and helpfull.

Old Florence Inn has an excellent location for easy access to the historic center of Florence. It is very close to San Lorenzo/Medici Chapel. Also very close to the train station. The proprietor was both friendly and helpful. It has an elevator, which is a huge help in getting luggage upstairs. Although there was some street noise (our room was on the street side of the inn), it was not enough to disturb sleep. Very good value for the location.

Our stay at the Old Florence Inn was excellent! Its location is great, just across the train station. Floro was really nice, and very honest, by mistake we left our safe box open with ALL our money and credit cards, we had to call Floro to please close it for us and when we returned everything inside the box was as we had left it. His recomendation on restaurants and tours where also great. We definitely will go back and surely recomend it. Thank you!!

A beautiful B&B in the heart of Florence, with extremely nice private bathroom. Really gives you a taste of Italy, compared to the generic hotel we stayed in on our return trip through Florence. Close to SMN railstation which was an easy walk with our luggage and backpacks. Florio was extremely nice and went out of his way to make us feel welcome. A true family atmosphere.

Location is perfect for using the train, even with dragged luggage. Not even that far to the main sites. We had a problem with electrics one night but all was fixed the next day while we were out. Overall a good stay. I would stay here again when visiting Florence.

This hotel is only a block from the train station. It is a busy street but quieted down at night. There is an Internet Cafe in the same block and a number of cafes and shops. Note: Nowhere in Italy were we able to use or cash American Express Traveler's checks and we had even purchased them in Euro's to make it as easy as possible. The restaurants, hotels, shops and even all of the banks told us 'No'. On our last day in Italy we finally found an American Express office in Rome to take the checks but it sure curtailed the amount of money we spent on our trip.

Excellent stay, Sitting out on the balcony watching the bustle of the city while enjoy a bottle of wine definitley added value, but being close to the transportion hub does make it rather noisy, the room we stayed in had an electric shutter though which blocked out most of the noise and light and made resting very convenient,so much so that if you if you didn't set your alarm you were likely to oversleep :-) Since we came in with the train from Rome the convenience of not having to walk to far from the central station with all one's baggage was most welcome, and given the size of Florence most of the sights were in walking distance from this location. The small lift (as with allot of european locations)we had to use to get to the rooms was a bit of an inconvenience. Furthermore I would personally like to thank Florio for his assistence in posting my cellphone back to me as I accidentally forgot it in my room.Which is not only indicative of the integrity of Florio but his staff as well, for which I can only say a heartfelt molto gratzie.

Lovely big room, nicely decorated. Breakfast was a bit poor, sachets of instant coffee or instant capuccino, a proper coffee could have been nice! Very handy for station, but we found the air con in our room didn't work properly so unless you left it on all day it would not cool the room down enough to sleep, and the street outside was too noisy to have the window open. Staff very friendly, get the air con fixed and it will be great!

The stay was amazing - from the very first moment we walked in we where welcomed with a smile. The room was great, very spacious, even with a cot and was extremely clean. The fridge and kettle where a win. The hotel is extremely well positioned and was by far the best accomodation that we had encountered on our trip through Europe. We would definately recommend the old Florence in to everyone looking for accomodation in Florence.

The only negative comment I would have is that it is located on a very busy and noisy street. If you have a hard time sleeping with a lot of noise, this may not be your best option unless you have earplugs. Otherwise, our stay there was excellent and the staff was great! Although conveniently located by train station if Florence is a base point for other travels through Italy and the Tuscany region; the location of the hotel was still a little "rough". Never encountered any problems though. The actual B&B and rooms were wonderfully cozy and Florio was wonderfully kind and helpful. The ensuite breakfast tray and coffee/tea maker was convenient. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Price was great and room was large compared to other European rooms. Lift is tiny, could not fit luggage and an individual at the same time, had to carry up stairs. But not bad, we lived! All part of the experience! Overall, great place to stay. Would definitely recommend this B&B to others.

We originally had a quadrouple room, but the air cond. was not able to cool the room w/4 people in it, and the first night was too hot. The next day they moved us into two double rooms, and it was much better - the rooms were much cooler. The streets outside do get noisy with much traffic - may want earplugs if you are a light sleeper. Very convenient to train station which is why we selected it.

This was a beautiful place to stay in Florence, and so conveniently located. It is right around the corner from the train station, so there was some street noise, which bothered some in our group. If you are a light sleeper, consider bringing ear plugs and wear yourself out sightseeing and you should be fine. The included breakfast was decent (mostly bread/toast and yogurt), but there is a refrigerator so if you find yourself wishing for more you can stock up at a supermercato and store your food. Florio was very kind and helpful. We had a room with four single beds, which was a little tight, but we didn't spend much time in the room anyway, so it served its purpose (sleeping) well.

Old florence Inn is a very nice place to stay. Very close to SMN station (100 meters). The room was the biggest we have stayed in our europe trip. The room was clean & air-conditioned. The bathroom was also very spacious and clean. The only let down here is the breakfast tray, which they will put on the previous day itself. It is hard to eat such old/cold breakfast. It does not qualify as a breakfast. Apart from worst breakfast the stay was very plesent.Add the breakfast expenses as well if you are planning to stay in this B&B.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old Florence Inn. We could not have asked for a more convenient (1 block from the SMN train station) well maintained, well run B and B. Florio Manini, the owner, was absolutely fantastic. The hotel takes up one floor (the third) of a realtively non-discript building near the main train station. I have read other reviews that complained about the noise, but we have no complaints in that regard. The rooms were all large, clean and all had air conditioning and two of them had adjoining balconies, which we took advantage of as often as possible. Santa Maria Novella church was a block away, and the large outdoor market was about 3 blocks in the opposite direction. Everything in the old town was within easy walking distance. While breakfasts were arranged every day on a tray in the room, we preferred to have a cafe and a croissant at a little bar accross the street. We were a group of 4 couples who's arrival dates changed a number of times after we had made the reservations and Florio responded to all the changes with good humor and charm. He also made reservations for all of us at both the Uffizi and Accademia galleries, and at various restaurants during our stay in Florence. These are all things one would expect from a good concierge at any fine hotel, but Florio went beyond the average. He made multiple phone calls attempting to retrieve the luggage of one of our group which was lost by Alitalia in Rome. He also worked with my friends and the fine folks at Trattoria al Trebbio to help set up the best birthday dinner (with surprises) I have ever had. Thanks to Florio and the Old Florence Inn for a most memorable trip to Florence. We would not hestitate to recommend The Old Florence Inn to anyone looking for convenient, budget (for Florence) priced accomodations in the heart of Florence, and you get Florio at no extra charge.

My wife and I stayed here in early June 2006. We were totally impressed with how spacious the room was and how close the hotel was to all the major sites. The spaciousness of the bathroom and room made the room feel like a suite compared to other places I've stayed in Europe. We loved the breakfast plate that was provided in the room each day. Although our room faced a major street I did not notice any noise at night. The location which was a couple of blocks from the main train station was ideal for train travel in Italy.

Breakfast and noise were our two disappointments with this hotel. To be fair, other reviewers had pointed out the hotel's proximity to the train station and we knew this was likely to be a double edged sword. What we didn't know was that there was a bus stop right outside the hotel and below our (thin) window. Bring earplugs! Breakfast was also mentioned in earlier reviews and, so you know, it consists of breakfast trays left in your room the day before that contain cellophane packaged crossants and nescafe. If that is breakfast for you and you are a sound sleeper then this is your place.

We enjoyed our stay at the Old Florence Inn. It was within walking distance of many of the sights. The first night the air conditioning was a little too warm, but we asked about it and the owner gave us the controls so we could keep it as cool as we liked. The owner was very helpful directing us to places around town and very helpful when we were trying to contact a friend who was also in Florence at the time.
