The Villa is situated on a hill overlooking Florence, passing by the church of St. Margherita a Montici and following the road that leads to the Arno. It is about 3 km by walk from Ponte Vecchio, in the center of Florence.
A nice walk on foot on the panoramic road through old stone walls and olive groves will take you to the historic center in no time.
The Villa, which is in Victorian style and was built at the end of the 19th century, has been recently renovate with a great historical and artistic value, where everything is furnished with the owners’ very good taste.
From the Villa’s Italian garden, with ancient cypresses and olive trees, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the city of Florence, from the Brunelleschi dome to the bordering grassy hills of the Tuscan countryside.
With both luxurious spaces under the sun and comfortable shaded areas, this is an ideal place to relax, read, take in the sunrays or simply enjoy the view and the surrounding nature. In the middle of the vineyards, olive groves, cypresses and pines rise some villas with their colourful gardens, rose-bushes and lemon plants.
All these villas once were farmhouses been renovated in a typical Tuscan style.
Even if we are very closed to the town center, in the most warm moments of a day you can hear the chirping of cicadas and once it gets darker you can hear the chirping of crickets, while during the night the dark sky brightened with the intermittent light of the fireflies.

I couldn't have asked for better accomodations. Although it's a 45 minute walk to the center of Florence, the accomodations, location and scenery are well worth it. Plus the owner offers a morning and evening shuttle to the closest piazza which is just a 15 minute walk from the center of town. The breakfast was the best I had during my three weeks in Italy. The room was spacious and extremely clean with an amazing view. And the owner could not have been more helpful and accomodating. I loved my stay there and highly recommend it.

This was the best accommodation of our trip. The generous host provided transport to the town, great restaurant recommendations and a warm stay. This was the most romantic and classy accommodation one could imagine. We can't wait until we can visit here again!

The Five Star Villa is a great place to unwind. We (husband, wife & two-year-old) stayed for 8 nights and, overall, we enjoyed our stay. The villa is beautiful, as is the surrounding country-side. It is, however, a long way from town and that's definitely a downside if you intend to stay for more than a few nights. Unless you plan to go into town once and stay there until bed-time, you'll probably need to make a number of cab-rides each day (ie: lunch, sightseeing & dinner). Walking is not recommended as it takes a little over an hour and is quite dangerous because there is no pedestrian path, so you're walking on the road with cars flying past. The shuttle service is a nice touch but it's really quite impractical. You get dropped off in a small hamlet that is still 30 minutes walk from Florence-proper. We hired a car for a few days and took cabs for the rest. There is a fridge for storing cold food but there are no kitchen facilities of any kind. This meant that we usually ate cold meats and salads for dinner each night. This was nice at the beginning but got quite old after 5 nights. A microwave would be a great addition. The breakfast was great and we could tell that our host, Andrea, was quite proud of it. There's a delightful common area on the top floor, but we only stumbled across it towards the end of our stay. Andrea doesn't speak much English so it's possible that he pointed out this feature and I just didn't understand. Given the language difficulties (and this was a common topic of discussion amongst guests), it would be good if they could put together a booklet/folder that outlines everything you need to know in English (and maybe a few other languages). The only significant complaint relates to the infrequent servicing of our room. I know it's not a hotel but we stayed in a suite for 8 nights and our room was only cleaned once. On balance, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Beautiful house with character, the location on a hill looking at Florence is wonderful as you feel like you are in Tuscany but you are just a few steps outside of the city. The city is a bit of a walk, 20min but wonderful views and it is worth it when you come back from the noise and busyness of the city to find the calm and quiet of The Five Star Villa. Also, the breakfast was very good.

We spent two days in this property and I can tell only positive things about it. The owner and his daughters are very friendly and helpful. The villa itself is very nice and clean. It has a nice garden with beautiful view to Florence and a free parking possibility. It is a bit far from the city center, it took about 30 minutes by foot for us, but it wasn't a surprise, because it is mentioned in the description of the property and in return you got silence, nice view and fresh air:) We used the offered shuttle service and it proved to be very useful. We had a room with shared bathroom, but it wasn't a problem, because both were very clean. The breakfast is a strong point, abundant and delicious (not just a croissant like in some other B&B's). The city itself is also beautiful, two days were barely enough to see everything. This charming villa is a very nice place to stay I would recommend it for everybody!

The Five Star Villa was simply perfect. The rooms, the public areas, the garden, the view... Just perfect. We had a double room without shower, but it just felt if we had had a bathroom - two steps from the door. Moreover our bed was in a tower room with 8 (!!!) windows in it, so we had an amazing view. Definitely the best choice in Florence! Absolutely recommended!

We loved our stay at The Five Star Villa. We spent two nights there in Sept. 2009 and the family was wonderfully friendly and helpful! Andrea (the father) does not speak much English, but his daughter does, and she was there every morning. We were able to communicate fairly well with Andrea anyway through the use of a little Italian, Spanish, and English. My only comment is that it is a long walk outside of the city if you don't have a car. From downtown Florence, it is almost 2 miles. We didn't mind the walk - we used it to burn off some of the extra dinner we ate=). There is a shuttle service in the mornings and evenings which we took advantage of in the mornings. We stayed in the Verde room, which was by far the largest room of all of the 4 different ones we stayed in during our trip across Italy. The sunrise view from the room was amazing!

Absolutely beautiful typical Tuscan villa in a picturesque location overlooking the city from a hill on the other side of the river. A quiet, rural location with extensive gardens within walking distance of the city, so you have the best of both worlds. It's a lot easier to walk into town than return by foot, as it's all uphill then! Kind host Andreas can drop you in town in the morning and pick you back up in the evening if you cannot walk. Breakfast was very nice. It seems Five Star Villa mosquitoes are particularly hungry, managing to find juicy spots despite my repellent!! Neverthelesss would happily choose to stay at Five Star Villa again.

Beautiful Place, gorgeous area, a little far out of Florence. We used a taxi most of the time to get back, but the owner drove us down into the town in the mornings, or it's a nice walk down the hill. Our only complaint was that there were no screens on the windows, and we were eaten alive at night by some sort of mosquitoes or little midges.

The villa was pretty much as described and handy for the centre of town but people must be ready for a 20 min walk down hill ( and longer coming back up) if they don't accept the free lifts. Neighbours were noisy in their garden the two evenings we were there until midnight but doubt if anything can be done about that. There had been a muddle over our booking but we were given a different room at a reduced price so can't really complain. The driving instructions from the motorway had the name of one of the turn offs wrong so we spent some time negiotiating the one way system trying to find our way.

After a long day visiting Florence and it's multiple museum, you will find at the Five Star Villa a marvelous place to rest. Welcoming family, in a very nice house surrounded by a beautiful garden, magnificent view of the area (Tuscany and part of Florence), good breakfest, what else can you ask for? The villa is at an half hour walk (going down) of the center of Florence. A nice way to start your day! At the end of the day, you will have to come back (going up) and then Andreas can wait for you to bring you back. Our 8 days in Florence were great, very great, and for a good part because we feel like home at the Five Star Villa. Enjoy!

Excellent breakfast consisted of sliced meats and cheeses, fruit, breads and pastries, nutella!, juice, coffee. This is a getaway from the city. If you are wanting to be in the city all day every day, this might not be the place to stay since it is quite a ways from the city and getting to and from the villa might be added effort. The shuttle at 10am and 6pm is very helpful, so if you can stick to that schedule, then no problem, but if you want more flexibility, you either need to walk it (it's not a short stroll), or hail a cab. I did walk it a couple times and it was a pleasant stroll; enjoyed the scenery and all, but the street on the hill is very narrow, there is no sidewalk and you just need to beware of whizzing cars and scooters as you walk on the 2-foot-wide shoulder. Cab rides in the evenings have a surcharge of 7 euros as soon as you enter, so beware of cab costs at night. If your goal is to getaway and enjoy the scenic views of Florence and the hillsides, you will get exactly what you're looking for here. Andreas has a beautiful home, beautiful side yard, front yard, plants, etc etc etc. Picturesque. First night I was there, he hosted a wedding reception - yes it's THAT NICE! - in the yard and though the music was blaring, it was quite memorable to experience a real Italian wedding, looking down from up above in my Verde room. Bathroom in the verde room was very nice, especially the tub. Loved the tub. Did I mention the tub? Classic knobs and shower spout. Felt like royalty. BEWARE of mosquitoes if you open the windows at dusk (and you'll want to because it's absolutely awesome to open all the windows and let the Tuscan breezes waft through your room as the sun sets) because they'll eat you alive. I killed four of them one night and got bitten all over. Not fun. But the villa was so nice I got over it really fast. Hosts were SOOOO nice. Always smiling. Always welcoming.

Wonderful place to stay. The family was welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts that we had were the best in Italy. We also enjoyed the evening light meal. The view from the villa is incredible. The only set back is how far it is from the city. It is not in waling distance, but, the owners were very helpful in dropping us off and picking us up at a bus station.

Andreas made us welcome right away. The house was beautiful and we had a view of the duomo from our room. We drove into Florence each day (about 5 min) and parked in the recommended locations for just a few euros. I fully plan on staying there again on our next visit to Florence.

We arrived quite late in the afternoon and didn't have time to organized an evening meal prior to being picked up at the designated bus stop.Becoming aware of our situation, our very gracious host Andrea prepared us some supper which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast was delicious (look out for the nutella pie!) and our room private, quiet and the bed very comfortable. The Five Star was set in the country hills overlooking Florence a welcome reprieve from the busy city, early each morning I took walk around the local area. The shuttle was ideal for us, Andrea dropping us off at the bus stop at 10am and pick up at 6pm. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Five Star to any travellors visiting Florence.

The place is gorgeous, there's beautiful view of the city from the room and the garden. We had a double room which was very spacious and very beautiful, parket floor and 19 century style decoration. There was also a living room on our floor which was very nice too. It is very quiet as it is at villas neighborhood a bit far from center. It takes about half an hour walk to get to the center, but it's worth it. We really loved the place. The owners are very nice and helpful.

We truly enjoyed our stay in the Five Star Villa. The environment, the view and the decor were excellent, the owner / servers were very friendly and helpful. The only problem was that when I selected the room choices during the beginning of the reservation process, I chose "room with private bathroom", then at the final stage of the price quotation, there were some room options which only provide public bathroom facility, that I was unaware at the time, so in the end, one of the two rooms I booked had no private bathroom, which was rather inconvenient to us. Aside from that, it was a wonderfiul experience, and I would definitely recommend my friends to stay there in the future!

The hotel was just what I was looking for, in a quiet area with a wonderful view of the city and still not too far away from it. My only advise for travelers is to ask for detail explanations of how to reach the hotel if they do it on their own like i did becouse it is complicated to reach.

Family and staff members were extremely friendly and helpful; after a hot summer day in this beautiful but crowded city it's very nice to enjoy the beautiful panorama of Florence and its surroundings, some quietness and a breeze of fresh air in the evening; we didn't mind the 20 min. walk down to the Arno bridge. In case of need, a car shuttle service (10 a.m. and 6 p.m.) is offered.

This b and b is gorgeous. Set in the hills above Florence. It is like having your own villa. It does however possess several major flaws that must be noted. Number one....It is not 20 minutes from town unless you are an Olympic sprinter. You must climb down a narrow mountain for road at least a mile just to get to the bottom of the hill. They would shuttle you down for free once at 10 am and not pick you up until six and then they would only drop you at a park across the river from the edge of the center. If you wanted any other shuttle it was 5 euros for a shuttle. 2. Never go in August the main rooms have no air conditioning and they turn of the air conditioning in the bedrooms. We sweltered. They never made our beds and it has shared bathrooms. Which they do not tell you. They also do not take credit cards so take cash. I asked for a shuttle from the train station which they initially refused but then did get us for five euros. The breakfast was not fabulous. They offered you water but then charged for it and boy did we need it after sweltering. They were friendly and the place was beautiful but if you do stay there a car is mandatory and bring lots of cash and avoid it in August.

The place is very peaceful with nice garden and terraces. The staff is a frendly family, they help where they can. The Villa was a bit far from the historical city on foot, but it didn't caused problem for us. They have free shuttle (morning/evening) if required. The only problem was that we thought that we had booked a room with a private bathroom, however a shared bathroom was provided. Anyway it was absolutely clean and meant no problems with scheduling.

The Five Star Villa is a fantastic place to stay when visiting Florence. It is set in beautiful countryside despite only being about a 25 minute walk from the centre of the city, although if you don't want to walk you can arrange to be driven. The villa was clean, well maintained and very comfortable. There was a good continental buffet breakfast - on a couple of mornings there was even some salami which had been especially made for the villa! The owner, Andrea, and his family are all great - very friendly and helpful and it was a pleasure to be a guest in their home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying here - great value and a real 5 star experience!
