On arrival there was confusion as to how to reach the hotel for registration before making our way to the B&B which was in the next block over. The person we encountered for registration was very disinterested however a different person made checking out a much nicer experience. Room was small and required a long overdue spring clean and updating. The Bathroom was adequate but again the cleanliness was questionable. Location wise the B&B couldn't have been better with all sights in walking distance and the market right across the piazza. When we return to Florence we will explore other accommodation before using this B&B again.

the location was great, and people were fairly nice. But the room was awful, tiny- even by European standards, and never completely clean. We had some sort of bugs, fleas or mosquitos- we never saw them but woke up each morning with bites. If you are only concerned with location- this is hard to beat. But if you wan a comfy place to take an afternoon nap, keep looking.

This was a great place to stay while in Florence. So close to everything which made it really nice and easy to get to everything. The only thing we had some trouble with was getting to the main hotel to check in. Just to give you a tip. It is right off the square by the Duomo. It is in a building though, so you need to look for a little sign that says HOTEL. It is kind of hidden. Just email Umberto and ask him the exact address. It took us some time to find that. As far as the location of the B&B goes. Wow, it was perfect. You could look out your window and see the biggest market in all of Florence! The rooms were a bit small, so if you were planning on spending a lot of time in the room you may want to pick a different hotel, but for the location and the places you can visit right from there, you can get no better. Breakfast was good, kind of basic, but very good and filling. Oh and on a side note about Florence, we took a half day trip to Pisa for about 40 Euro from the travel agency that had flyers in the hotel. It was well worth the trip if you aren't going to stay in Pisa at some point on your trip. This though was a wonderful hotel and I would definitely recommend it whole heartly!

The location and value for the price of this accomodation were great. The bathroom was small - but adequate. The room size was reasonable. Check-in was made a bit more complicated - as the B&B is now owned by a hotel around the corner. You must check-in there and then go to the location - likewise you must go to the hotel to check-out. Breakfast was offered in the room - and was simple (bread & coffee or hot chocolate).

Easy to find, although you need to go to Hotel San Giovonni (about 1 block away) to get keys. Very close to the Duomo and centrally located for all the important sites. Breakfast was only okay, but there were plenty of restaurants and cafes just downstairs. The piazza in front of the hotel gets pretty empty at night, but overall it was quite safe.

Fantastic location and a good overall choice. Host was very helpful arranging reservations for popular museums in advance. Property is not luxurious but clean and comfortable. Some potential improvements: Breakfast was a little sparse and did not start until 0815--0700 would be a more reasonable time for a tourist facility. Check-in is cumbersome as you must walk to a hotel that is a block away, then up 4 flights of stairs--not exactly easy to do with bags. Overall, however, property is a great choice for those interested in staying in the central city.

WE WERE FORTUNATE TO ARRIVE EARLY AFTERNOON AND A MEMBER OF THE HOTEL STAFF ANSWERED THE DOOR - WE WERE TOLD THAT THE HOTEL CHANGED MANAGEMENT AND DID NOT HAVE A RECEPTION, SO WE HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL DOWN THE ROAD TO GET OUR KEYS! THERE WAS NO SIGN TO INDICATE THIS ON THE ENTRANCE DOOR AND HAD WE ARRIVED IN THE EVENING AS OTHERS DID WE WOULD HAVE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH ACCESS!!!!! WE BOOKED A ROOM WITH A VIEW OF THE PIAZZA BUT WERE TOLD THAT FOR SOME OF THE NIGHTS OTHERS HAD BOOKED IT, SO WE WERE GIVEN A SLIGHTLY LARGER ROOM WITHOUT A VIEW OF THE PIAZZA, AND THERE WAS NO REDUCTION FOR THE EXTRA WE PAID! HOTEL WAS VERY CENTRAL, EASY ACCESSS TO ALL SIGHTS, MARKET AND THE STATION, BREAKFAST WAS BASIC, FRIDGE COULD BE USED, BUT NO COOKING IN KITCHEN. WE DO NOT THINK THAT THIS HOTEL PROVIDES GOOD VALUE

San Lorenzo was recently bought by another hotel which means that you had to register at the other hotel first, and there were no personel present at San Lorenzo during the day, only in the morning for breakfast and cleaning. The other hotel was only 3 minutes walk away, so this was not a problem. The owner was very kind and pointed out all interesting things to see in Florence on a map. San Lorenzo was just next door to the church with the same name, with the market outside. You can get your breakfast in your room if you want to. A very nice and romantic stay that I really can recommend!

We stayed at B&B San Lorenzo for 5 nights on the recommendation of friends who had stayed there previously. Two weeks before our stay we received an email to say that the B&B had been sold to a hotel, but the conditions of our stay would remain unchanged. We had to go to the hotel to check in and, although it is not very far away, it was a bit of a hassle while dragging luggage. The man walked us around to the B&B, showed us our room and then left us to our own devices. There was no-one to offer us information about Florence such as directions to attractions or where to eat, as we received in other B&Bs in Italy. It seems that the quality of the breakfasts has deteriorated. We were given only juice, awful coffee and what appeared to be reheated pastries. No fruit, yoghurt or bread, as mentioned by other reviewers. On the positive side, the room was quite pleasant and fairly clean, and the location is very central. We did not get any noise from the street, but the walls of the rooms are thin and we could hear our next door neighbours and any activity in the kitchen. The staff serving breakfast were pleasant enough, but did not speak much English. It seems the quality of this B&B has fallen since the change in ownership, which is a pity, because the previous reviews and recommendation from our friends were excellent.

The hotel was a great location for us - an easy walk from the train station and from just about everything else! The room was small, but more than adequate, with comfortable contemporary furnishings (though the lime green walls and Matisse reproductions seemed a bit out of place for Florence). Delighted the property is non-smoking! The in-room bathroom was modern, spotless and well-supplied. The B&B is now owned and operated by a small nearby hotel, and while we would have preferred to have staff on location, we were delighted with the ability to leave our luggage in the other location, which is even nearer the train station, upon early arrival and for late departure. Not all staff members are fluent in English, but between my friend's basic Italian, many hand gestures, and good will, we communicated okay. Two suggestions for the hotel: help with luggage would be appreciated; and since church bells wake you at 7 am and queues for the major museums start around 8 am, it would be helpful to start breakfast service by 7:30 am (instead of 8:30). Otherwise, we were very satisfied with our stay and value for the price - and would definitely return!

We liked the change of Florence from busy and big Rome. Our room was quite small, but good enough for 2 days. We did have our own small bathroom in the room. We had the Piazza view, which was both good and bad (noisy with windows open). The location was great because it was right in the open market and not far from the Duomo and Academia. It was only a 10 minute walk to the train station. Katarina made great capuccinos each morning and gave great advice on sightseeing and restaurants. The ground floor hallway was very moldy and musty smelling near the lift, but the B&B was located up 4 flights of stairs.

We had a great time at this B&B and it was a welcomed retreat from the hustle and bustle of Venice. It was a short ride on the water taxi, easy to find and the little town of Lido had much to offer in great food and shopping and the B&B was a two block walk to the center. It was wonderful and Mara and everyone were super sweet. Met lots of nice people staying there also. The only improvement would be a whole wheat bread for breakfast instead of the white! Great coffee, yogurt, fruit and juice! I highly recommend this B&B, Missy and Dave, Atlanta, Georgia USA

San Lorenzo is in a very good area, close to train station and tourist sites. And it did have an elevator. However, the room was extremely small with no place to store luggage. Bathroom was tiny, no shelving or hooks to hang anything. Shower is just a curtained area between the sink and toilet.

We liked San Lorenzo B&B as it was a great location for Florence and lovely to look out over the square and fairly close to all the major sites. The room we had was a lovely decor with plenty of space to move around in. It is on the third floor but had a lift for the luggage. Close to the station.

We stayed four nights. The owner's daughter and the person who generally takes care of things in the mornings were very welcoming and helpful. The bells from the Duomo wake you at 7AM, but that's the price for being centrally located. Be prepared for dealing with lots of keys (five).

Really great place. Nice young man let me in. Many keys to the place. Has a lift. Right at the Merchantile so easy shopping and carrying. Use of kitchen and fridge. I will recommend to others and stay there again on my next trip.

Excellent location for a weekend in this Marvelous City, staff were very helpful, pleasant and knowledgable in how to avoid queues, use of the kitchen facilities was very welcome when returning late at night. If returning to Florence would not stay anywhere else.

Adorable B&B in a wonderful location. Just a few minutes walk to train station, to Duomo and all major attractions. Florence, though, is such a small city that really everything is pretty conveniently located. I stayed in a single room with an external private bath, and although everything was spotless clean and I had privacy I would have preferred a bathroom in the room. The room was very very small, but it was clean and adorable. The view from the room was beautiful and there was no noise from the street. It is a very quiet place to stay with one exception: other guests wake up early and the staff is there early (8 a.m.) to make breakfast and you can hear absolutely everything going on in the kitchen. So, if you want to sleep in you might look for a bigger place. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The breakfast is pretty standard fare: breads, coffee, juice, fruit, cereal, yogurt. There is a nice large kitchen available for guests to use and you can leave things in a refrigerator. There is also a washer and dryer available - a big bonus. There was a complication with the room I booked and the room I stayed in, but they remedied the situation immediately.

The staff was excellent and very helpful. Katherina was extremely helpful with her tips on how to avoid the long lines for the Uffizi Gallery and the Academy (Michelangelo's David is here) as well as inexpensive places to eat. The B&B is right on the San Lorenzo plaza but our room faced away from it so it was very quiet in the evening. Breakfast was simple but plentiful. The jams for the bread were delicious. The B&B was located within walking distance of the train staion and within walking distance of the major sightseeing spots in Florence. It was a jewel of a find and I would definitely stay here again.

This B & B was WONDERFUL as was the owner Katherina! Location was right next to San Lorenzo church and right down the block from Duomo. The whole place was spotless! And breakfast was great! Katherina was extremly helpfull with advising us about "line jumping" passes to Uffizi and Academia, and giving TONS of advise on restaurants to try, and places to see. We will defiantely stay at San Lorenzo again! Thank you Katherina!!!
