1.5Kms from Ponte Vecchio. Easy walk to everything. No restaurants nearby. Railway station .75Km- again walking distance. Very nice room except for pile of dust under the very comfortable bed. Sufficient healthy breakfast, very pleasant host- Roberto. Beware revelry late at night from Theatre opposite.

I would definitely recommend this hotel! It's small, just 5 rooms, located on a quiet street just 15 minutes walk from the train station. The room and shower were big and clean. Amazing interior, feels like home! Breakfast included fruits, yogurts, sandwiches, coffee... the best you can expect, really. The owner is very friendly and helpful and speaks English perfectly!

This bed and breakfast was very simple and very clean. The proprietor was friendly and accomodating. It is located on a very quiet street just off the river and near the United States embassy so the area, although a bit isolated, was well protected. Itis a short walking distance from the center of town and the train station so it is well situated. The only two ammenities I would like to have had were washclothes and complimentary shampoos and lotion which seem to be standard everywhere else. This is definitely the place to stay if you spend more time out vsiting the city than relaxing in your hotel room. My room had no windows and I would imagine that is the same for all rooms since the facility is inside a larger facility with apartments. This was a lttle uncomfortable for me because I felt as if I was inside a box with no natural light.

Fantastic hotel! It was a bit on the small side, but that is to be expected in a large, European city. The host was great, he even came in an hour early to make us breakfast before we left for an all day excursion to the Tuscany region. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It's located near the American consulate, so it is VERY quiet. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Excellent stay at Il Maggio, Roberto is welcoming, knowledgable and extremely helpful and will book museums etc. Just one thing the Il Maggio is a good walk out of Florence centre and so take your walking shoes, although Roberto did give us info on local buses if you don't fancy the walk every time.

It is too expensive than the price of B&B which i expect that it should have the kitchen and some public area. Anyway the room is very new and clean and the staff is very friendly. Nice location for one who need the quiet space and there is the park very close to the B&B.

I was perfectly satisfied with this accomodation, under all aspects. An advice for future clients: please bear in mind that while the property is situated in a really quiet and more or less central area, there is at least 20 minutes walking distance (along river Arno embankments, a nice walk however) to the very center (and this is not a complaint).

This was possibly the best place we stayed on our entire 4 month Europe trip. It was clean, homey, quiet, and upscale. The owner was very nice and spoke perfect English. The breakfast was nice and the location was absolutely perfect - 15 minute walk into the heart of town, just near the river in a quite, upscale neighborhood. My only complaint is that the bed in our room was very hard and I prefer a soft bed. Other than that, the towels were plump and huge, the shower was hot with excellent pressure, and the room was tastefully decorated and cleaned daily. Would stay again without question and would recommend to anyone going to Florence.

Firstly, thanks so much for your hospitality during our stay. We really appreciated your help in every aspect from city information to tips on where to eat and not to forget - for making the rich breakfast earlier as normal so that we could leave earlier without being hungry. Thank you also so much for sparing no effort to send us the forgotten I-Pod. We got it back safely. We warmly recommend the small and nice accommodation.

As many BnB in Italy, this one also didn't have elevator, but only 1 floor up so it's OK! The owner was very nice n provided lots of info about sights n transport. Room was hugh, lots of luggage space n bathroom was very clean, the room had a very high ceiling so had a comfortable feeling. Location's quite good, only about 10 minutes to the centre, n it's a nice brisk walk along the river. Breakfast's OK too. I'd recommend this BnB to my friends, n would stay here again!

Our stay far exceeded our expectations!! Our room and ensuite was huge, we had a private balcony, the ensuite was the biggest I have seen in Europe. The breakfast was delicious with your own fresh pot of tea, coffee or capaccino bought to your table, toast, ceral, yoghurts, pastries, as much as you wanted. The manager was incredibly friendly and helpful, he even let us use his laptop and printer (though we had only asked where an internet cafe was) to book a room in rome when our accomodation cancelled our booking the day before we were suppose to arrive, well above the call of duty!!! The rooms and common areas were spotless. This really is a 5 star B&B and alot better than some hotels we have stayed in, it has all the qualities of a hotel with the B&B charm and friendliness. We highly recommend it and would stay again.

Very safe place because of the security at the nearby USA embassy. Quite far from the Train Station & the direction provided is not easy to follow especially if there are road diversion due to some road constructions going on outside the Train Station. There was no lift or elevator making it difficult to climb a flight of stairs if you have heavy luggage, but the owner is very nice to help us carry our luggage up. Very clean, good size, nice room with antique furnitures but no small fridge. No windows but it does'nt matter to us. The bathroom is quite big, very clean with a good sized shower area. Great to have free wireless internet if you ask for it. The breakfast though limited in choice is good as it's freshly prepared with the homely touch. Also there are fruits serve. They are very helpful in giving us a map & showing us where to go. I would definitely stay here again & would recommend to my friends.

Recomendable 100% ---------------------- Everything very well. Breakfast, the environs, site to park because it's near to the USA embassy, the propietary marriage of the hotel... We had a small problem of lodging and the gentleman solved it quickliest that he sent us to another hotel of his propety more centric and better without cost some. The best thing of everything was the so charming and accessible marriage. Recommendable 100%

We recently stayed at the Residenza Il Maggio on a trip from Rome to the Dolomites. We arrived at the train station in Florence and had a short 10 min flat walk to the hotel which was easy to find. We were welcomed by Roberto, the hotels manager, who had stayed on past his usual 12pm knock off time to make sure that we were accommodated. The location of this B&B is great. It is in a very quiet area of Florence near the embassies. Only pedestrian traffic is permitted in the area. The B&B is situated approx 40m from the River Arno and is around a 10 minute stroll to the main centre of Florence. This was great as it allowed us to see the city open up to us as we walked along the river. Roberto was only too eager to please when it came to recommending what Florence has to offer the visitor. When we stated that we wanted to eat where locals eat, his eyes lit up and he rattled off several great Trattorias and restaurants...which we tried and can confirm their greatness for both quality and price! The rooms are the perfect B&B room. Meaning ample room, clean, serviced and with all the necessary amenities, including a spacious bathroom. The rooms were warm (it was Winter) and the bed comfortable. Breakfast is served by both Roberto and his lovely wife Leah in the common room. It consisted of a freshly made coffee, juices, pastries, ceareals, fruit, yoghurt, toast and jams. It was delicious and fresh. We will highly reccommend this B&B to anyone wishing to stay in Florence as it was one of the highlights to stay at a wonderful residence and see the wonderful sights that Florence has to offer. We will return...the sooner the better!

My wife and I chose Residenza il Maggio as we attended the opera at the Teatro Comunale and its location was perfect, right across the street. However, it is a 15 minute walk to the historic centre, but that was fine with us. The accomodation and hospitality were excellent and as we expected from the web site. Since the appartment is very near the US consulate it is quiet as the streets are completely closed to traffic in that area.

Residenza Il Maggio was really great. The 3 person room was spatious and clean. There was a small balcony that overlooked the street. The bathroom was very big! We enjoyed our stay and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The location could be a downside-it's about a 15 minute walk to the center of town. But it is right by the US Embassy so it is relatively quiet and safe. The only other thing is the long staircase up to the B&B that might be hard to climb if you have bad knees or heavy luggage! I would definitely stay there again when in Florence.

We were welcomed very kindly, though the train was very late (just after midnight). White room and very clean, but without any window (room # 4) and without any typical feature, like we were in a little international stardard hotel. Very disappointing for typical B&B lovers (you can find them everywhere else in France or UK, or in Ravenna in Italy for example), specially in this city of arts and culture. lavatory in the next room was a little too noisy, when activated at 7 a.m., but, otherwise, the room was very quiet. It is in the surroundings of the American consulate, and, since the 11th of september, all the streets around are blocked. A good spot to visit Firenze, not too far from the historical center.

The "Il Maggio" is easily described: perfect! Our room was clean, spacious and quiet. Moreover, it´s nicely decorated. You have aircondition, a TV and even a mini fridge. The bathroom is spacious, very clean and well equipped. The breakfast is the best I´ve seen so far in a B&B. Roberto and his wife are not just doing their job extremely good. The rooms were smaller than what appeared on the website, however they were clean and well heated for a white winter in Florence! Roberto and Lia were welcoming and breakfast was fresh with a wide variety available, however not seeing them through the day made accessing tourist information difficult. The location was suitable for couples as it was away from the main areas of Florence. It was a 15 minute walk to the centre of the city. The B&B was great value for what we paid and would consider staying again - now we know the shortcuts around Florence!

The best place I have ever stayed for the money. It is right in the heart of Bellagio, surrounded by restaurants, shops, and just steps from the lake. The "staff" is a wonderful, friendly, helpful family whose pride in their business is apparent. My room was spotless, comfortable, quiet, and beautifully furnished. Breakfasts were fabulous -- pastries, breads, hams, cheeses, cereals, yogurt, juices, coffee made just for you. This is the place to stay in Bellagio.

My sister and I were very grateful to find the B&B almost exactly as the description. The owner even found us walking down the street and directed us (2 American sister...I quess we stuck out like a sore thumb). The accomidations were more than we had expected, we had heard some horror stories of European accomidations. I would highly recommend it and would stay there again. We also took the open tour bus (red double decker bus) that we would highly recommend for tourist like ourselves as well, you can get on and off for a full 24 hours.

Quite part of the town. Manager not always on premises. Manager came early to fix breakfast one day since we had early morning tickets for Uffizi. Residence is a good walk from the center of town.

My room smelled smoky altho they said it was non-smoking. I thought the pictures online looked better that the actual facility. The staff was very nice and the cappucino at breakfast was excellent. We also needed to make a few international calls while we were there and were surprised at how little it cost when we checked out. They said they charged us their cost and no additional added on fees, so that was nice. It was a little out of the way of the main area of Florence, but if you have a car this is a good location b/c we learned that no private cars are allowed in the city, and there is a parking lot near this hotel as well as many car rental services near here. I would probably not stay here again although it was fine for this time.

The owners were wonderful! The room was pristine and they go out of their way to give you a great breakfast! The location is decent, but is about an 8 block walk from major attractions (Ponte Vecchio, etc.). It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk one way, but it is very near the water. Well worth the stay, and there's air conditioning too!

The price for Il Maggio was spectacular compared with other locations we researched. We appreciated the relatively large room, brand new feel to the building, and individually-controlled air conditioning (which kept our room very comfortable during a particularly warm May). Service was up to par, and the location is reasonable (within 10 min. of most central tourist attractions). The neighbourhood felt quiet because it's away from the main traffic flow. Il Maggio is directly across from the opera house - perfect if you plan to attend the theatre during your stay (which we did).

During our 3-night stay, I found out that the in B&B is under new ownership. The new owners, a husband and wife team, were absolutely wonderful hosts and were very friendly and knowledgable. Room #3, where we stayed, had it's own balcony looking over the Florence Opera House. Both the room and the bathroom were spacious and very clean. The morning breakfast was included in the rate and was very filling. I was extremely glad that we chose to stay at this B&B and would stay there again.

The breakfast was unsatisfactory. Friendly host, but never at the facility and impossible to reach by phone once there. Clean facility. Good location.

Il Maggio was PERFECTO! The hotel was conveniently located a block from the Arno near the US consultate and while close enough to be in walking distance to everything that we wanted to see, it was on a side street and so very quite. In fact, May is the time of the Music Festival in Florence and during the afternoon siesta, you could hear classical music and opera gently rolling into your windows from the Music School across the Via. THe staff was very friendly - particularly Daniel - and gave us restaurant suggestions and off the beaten path local favorites. Breakfast was simple but devine. The rooms were not huge but perfectly laid out with fine linens on the beds so that you felt like you were in a place much more luxurious than what you were paying. I would highly recommend this B&B to any friend or family member going to Florence.
