Excellent location, charming room and bath, nicely decorated. Weather during our stay was rainy and cold and the room was not heated, but extra blanket available. Breakfast room could be improved and TV is not a must... My Mom (70) and myself had a very good stay and a good time talking with Sawako and her companion.

This hotel is close to the Duomo. And the place is very convinient for sightseeing and shopping. The guest rooms are very clean. The hotel owner is very kind to me. I want to stay at this hotel again when I go to Florence next time.

Sawako was very helpful (even gave me a cooling gelpack for my wrecked back, which eased the pain a lot). I would definitely go back.

The Novocento is in the heart of Firenze, 2 blocks from the famous Duomo and is a short walk to all the sights. It is on the 3rd floor with no elevator, so it's best if you don't have too much luggage. The decoration is a little old fashioned with a canopy over the bed - looks nice, but as someone with a severe dust allergy - not so comfortable at night. The room has A/C which is nice and not always standard. Very friendly staff. The bathroom was small but this is a 500 year old building!! The saving grace of this B&B is the roof-top terrace, where you have a wonderful view over the mountains and a great close up view of the duomo dome!

Novecento is an excellent option for those looking for an affordable place to stay in the center of Florence. Located about a block away from the Duomo, you can't find a better place to be at their rates. We stayed in the Orange room, which faced Via Ricasoli, but the noise level was manageable. The room was immaculate, and the bed was the most comfortable on which we slept thoroughout our vacation in Italy. What truly struck us about this B&B was the service. The owners, Franco and Sawako, were warm, friendly, and extremely helpful during our stay. More than any other place we stayed during our trip through Italy, we would (and may, soon enough) return Novecento, mostly because of the hospitality. The only negative for this place are the flights of stairs you have to climb. It's technically on the 3rd floor, but it feels like it's on the 4th. However, we found it to be needed exercise given all the excellent food we ate while in Florence. But don't let the stairs discourage you from booking. Novecento is a hidden gem of a place.

It is 3 night stay in Novecent. A candid owner couple improved it very much. Luggage was firmly kept meanwhile though it had gone to another day city for the staying period. It walks to the center and Dumo of the town and the best location in immediate Florence. Songs of Franco and Sawako's dish are made atmosphere to do in like my house.

We enjoyed our stay in Novecento B&B a lot. The location is perfect. It is only 1 block away from Duomo. Franko and Sawako are friendly nice couple. They helped us with everything we asked for. They have some kind of lift so you don't need to carry your heavy luggage on the third floor. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. I would definitely recommend this B&B to other people.

The Manager of this B&B is a nice Japanese lady, so inexperienced single Japanese traveler(especially female) will be very encouraged and feel secured & stay at ease here. Guests can hear the bells of DUOMO and the neighboring chapels ringing in the morning at 8 o'clock and at 9. So you don't need any alarm clock. The location is wonderful.

HOSTS FRANCO AND SAWAKO WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. IT WAS A REAL PLEASURE MEETING THEM AND SPENDING TWO NIGHTS IN THEIR WELL RUN SMALL HOTEL. EXCELLENT LOCATION. STRENUOUS CLIMB TO REACH HOTEL LEVEL. ALL IN ALL, WE WOULD STAY THERE AGAIN.

We had a great stay at Novecento. It was in an ideal location right near the Duomo. Franko is a fabulous host who provides information that you require and makes a great coffee. The B&B is very nicely furnished and the rooms are comfortable. The rooms on the road side can be noisy and the 3 flights of stairs is a challenge if you have heavy suitcases. All in all we had a great stay and would recommend it.

We stayed here in early September for two nights. The proprietors of the B&B, Franco and Sawako, are very friendly, cheerful, helpful, and enthusiastic. The location is ideal – just a block from the Duomo and near the middle of everything. The bedroom is very clean, comfortable, quaintly decorated. It’s air-conditioned, which is a blessing in summer. There’s a roof garden that’s quite nice, with a view of the Duomo. Breakfast is generous for Italy. They didn’t have wireless connection at the time, but at our suggestion, they said they’ll be getting it soon. Nevertheless, it’s quite convenient that the Internet café is just right across the street. The restaurant suggestion is (Academia?) also very good – we loved the freshly made bread there. Franco also gave us a map and suggested a list of things to do in Florence – we found it very helpful!

Great location - nice rooms although small but very nice decoration. Good prices for firenze regarding the situation. Poor relationship and owners often away which was a problem as we had to tell them our schedule which is not the real thing you want on vacations

We had a wondeful stay at the Novecento and would reccomend it to all of our family and friends. The location and the owners were wonderful and you cant beat the view from the terrace or the price. The room was large, bathroom was clean, breakfast was more than usual. We felt welcome and will stay there again soon

This is in a wonderful location. The view from the rooftop is incredible. We enjoyed hearing the bells from our window. The rooms are very clean and very pretty. There are a lot of stairs so be prepared to pack light-- we didn't. Franco was very helpful in allowing us to park in front of the B and B and also helping with our luggage. We appreciated the great service in that regard. The bed was two singles pushed together and in the morning there was a big gap-- that could have been a little better. Also the breakfast could have been a little better-- we got mostly packaged breads and juice. We aren't coffee drinkers and would have appreciated hot chocolate. A beautiful place and welcoming hosts.

Great location for sightseeing, right in the middle of the city within minutes walk to Accademia, Uffizi, Duomo. Smallest bathroom in our entire Paris/Venice/Florence/Siena/Rome trip. One side faces the street, which can get noisy. The owners were very nice. You're paying for location. Florence is actually pretty small and walkable, so I would also consider staying outside of the core next time, in Santa Croce.

We had a great time here and would return. You do have to be able to climb 3 flights of stairs, as there is no lift. And the bathroom is tiny and unique. However, we really enjoyed Franco & Sawako, and they really strive to serve their guests. Breakfast was good. The location of the B&B was wonderful, right next to many attractions.

The hosts are warm, funny, and friendly and always helpful, especially with luggage. They provided us an inexpensive phone card that was useful. Location was perfect with wonderful rooftop view of Duomo. Night noise was an issue when bars closed but overcome with ear plugs (which you should never travel without). Attractive, but small bath. Three flights of steps are a problem if you have mobility issues. Comfortable bed in delightful room but few storage areas.

Great location... only a block away from the Duomo, though it can be a little hard to find as there is only a small sign next to the door. Franco was very helpful in pointing out all of the best places to visit in Florence and in helping us with our transportation needs. The only drawback is that you have to climb a lot of steps to get here, but they have a machine that basically acts like a crane and will lift your luggage for you. Also, we were not impressed by the restaurant that Franco recommeneded. The staff was rude and the food was not very good. However some of the other guests loved it, so maybe we just had a bad experience. Overall, this was a great place with nice people... I would recommend this place for sure.

Nice and clean rooms, friendly people, 3 floors without lift difficult to get with heavy luggage. Placed in an execelent area, but as it is the center of firenze cars cannot get straigth to the b&b. It is a recommended place to go, anyhow.

My family (two parents 60+ and two adult daughters) made Florence our second stop in Italy this month (1/06) and were very pleased to find such a comfortable location in the shadow of the cathedral. We were welcomed by Sawako and Franco, who generously offered to carry our bags four floors to their apartment. The flat has been tastefully and meticulously redecorated in pastel shades with bright floral bedspreads and tiled bathrooms. Although we were in the heart of the old city, we were high enough off a side street to avoid all traffic noise at night. Because Sawako and Franco live on-site, they were available to answer the door when one of us got separated from the group and got locked out, and were available to assist us with making calls and travel arrangements when pre-arranged plans went awry. More like a small pensione than a B&B, they also have limited concierge service available such as bottled water, wine and sandwiches for a small fee. Perhaps the best feature of Novecento, however, was the direction we received when choosing a restaurant. I had one of the two best meals of my life at the Accademia Ristorante less than a five-minute walk from the B&B (for the second, see my review of Al Campaniel in Venice). This is a great location within walking distance of everything in Florence. Arlan-Elizabeth H.

Gracias Sumako y Franco!

Our hosts were wonderful, friendly and so accommodating, offering to make reservations and suggesting restaurants and things to see/do. Breakfast was generous and always delicious. Loved the cappucino with the chocolate sprinkled on top in the shape of a heart! Franco's sense of humor was never lacking. Everything was clean and neat--I highly recommend the Novecento!

Our stay at the Novecento was one of the highlights of our vacation. The location near the duomo couldn't be better. The rooms are newly renovated. The proprietor, Franco, was exceptionally friendly and went out of his way to make sure our stay in Florence was great. When we arrived late the first night, he called a local restaurant to ask them to stay open late so we could eat. He got us reservations for local museums. He even called favors with friends to get us special discounts at local stores. Staying at the Novecento is like having a local guide at your service. Note that the hotel is on the third floor and there isn't an elevator in the building. But Franco will assist with getting your luggage up the stairs. If you're willing to live with walking up a couple of flights of stairs, the Novecento offers great rooms at a reasonable price.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The owners are wonderful, friendly and very helpful, not to mention that wonderful cappuccinos every morning. The location is perfect, just two blocks from the Duomo, on the same street as the Academia (Michelangelo’s David) and very near Piazza San Lorenzo. We would highly recommend that any visitor to Florence consider this bed and breakfast and would be happy to provide further comments in response to an email sent to mevanstein@aol.com.

Franco, the host, was funny and so accomodating! The location is unbeatable, less than a block from duomo. The biggest asset of this B&B is their rooftop terrace! It overlooks the duomo and makes for a great place to sip some Chianti at dusk...don't miss it! The entire price of the room is worth the spectacular view you get from there!

The Novecento was an EXCELLENT accomodation. The hosts were the most welcoming we have had in Italy. The place is a half block to the duomo and within minutes to all of the best sites and shopping in rome. There is a very comfortable, large rooftop terrace garden with tables and chairs for relaxing with a stunning (in your face) view of the dome. FANTASTIC! The rooms are very large, clean and quiet - very comfortable. Breakfast is decent for italy. We fully enjoyed our stay here and will definately return.

The location of the B&B was perfect. It is right in the middle of the historical center and made walking around excellent. The staff made reservations for me and my family at all the places we wanted to go. They also were very helpful with luggage. They have a beautiful terrace on the roof that gives an unbelievable view of The Duomo and of Florence.

PERFECT!!!!!!Best B&B in all Florence (4 stars minimum) The rooms are fantastic, the "yellow" room where we stayed was so romantic. The owners are perfect to, friendly and so considered, we left with the feeling of having made long time fiends. Already recommended it to all friends and family. You cannot go wrong here. Oh! don't forget to ask the owners about local restaurants; they told us abouta few places that turned out to be real gems. PERFETTO! il migliore B&B in Firenze. I proprietari sono fantastici. It is a perfect location for walking around all of the major sights in Florence. It is run by two very warm and helpful people. Novecento has been recently renovated, so the rooms are modern and kept incredibly clean. The terrace upstairs provides an amazing view of the Duomo, and hearing the bells go off on the hour from the terrace was an experience I loved.

The bathroom could have been more spacious and should have included a seperate place for the shower (as there was no shower curtain or anything of that sort), the entire bathroom got wet when we took a shower. As a feedback for Venere: Add a question for the bathroom in your questionaire, becuase we believe it is an important feature of the room.
