Bed and Breakfast Monte Oliveto - Florence

Ein sehr schönes B&B, wir kommen gerne wieder, zentral aber doch ganz ruhig gelegen. Busse 12 +13 bringen die Gäste schnell ins Zentrum, Parken vorm Haus kein Problem

This place is a gem! A 10 minute walk from the river; cross the bridge and you are in the main city of Florence. The woman who runs the facility is super nice, understands English fairly well (enough to communicate, as well as give directions and suggestions for city.

This was my first visit to Florence and B&B Mt. Oliveto was the perfect choice, mainly because of the inside info. and help that Donatella provided! Finding the location initially was challenging, but not impossible; afterwards I enjoyed the distance from the tourist area with reasonably priced restaurants, shops and a local food mart down the street. At Breakfast in the beautiful garden I met other travelers from US, Singapore, Australia-all English speaking. There is a common PC avaialble 24/7 with entrance to guest rooms seperate from the host family. Shared bath in hallway was more manageable than I anticipated. I hope to return the next time with my family when I'm back in Florence...Ciao!

We were very pleased with Monte Oliveto, the owner is super friendly and helpful, breakfast was very good, the room extremely clean. Location is great, easy walk into centre of Florence. We would certainly go back if we return to Florence.

My wife and I really enjoyed the stay at Monte Oliveto. The owners were so kind to give us advice on shopping places, restaurants, sightseeing tours even before we arrive in Florence. SO impressed with their responsiveness and willingness to make our stay more enjoyable. The environment around the B&B is very relaxing as well as convenient to most places in town. We walked around Florence most of the time, and it was fun. We sometimes came back to the B&B late at night, but there was nothing dangerous or unsafe at all. In fact, we loved the lively atmosphere at night on the way back from the city center to the B&B. We also enjoyed the breakfast served in the living room every morning, and the talks with other guests who were from the U. S. We will come back to this place when we have a chance to travel to Florence. We recommend this place to people especially who love the quiet and residential atmosphere.

Unfortunately we were only able to stay overnight because of a tour, but Donatella was very accommodating even though we checked in at 9 p.m. She was helpful beforehand trying to help us get tickets for the Uffizi and Accademia during Culture Week and gave us advice for gaining entry to both. The B&B is beautiful and in a quiet neighborhood near many restaurants and cafes. The rooms were extremely beautiful and the bathroom was bright, big, and very clean; however, if you are sensitive to incense or potpourri, you may find the smell overwhelming. There is no elevator, and the stairways are narrow. Donatella also lives in the B&B on the first floor so it is probably not best to try and explore the common areas at night. There is a computer for internet and printing. The breakfast is also delicious, and we wish that we had time to sit in the garden or patio which was at the foot of the hills. We would stay here again, but it is a little pricey for a student's budget. Overall a great experience!

All were great but i don't like take my breakfast with unknown people at the same table.

This is a wonderful place to stay but don't tell everybody or I might not be able to get in when I want to go back!!

I've been at many B & B:s all over Europe, but never met such an incredible kind hostess as Donatella at Monte Oliveto. I don't think there's a problem that Donatella can't solve. Spotless rooms, anything you ask for att breakfast, free Internet computer - even a bike. Monte Oliveto may be a couple of miles from Florence's main attractions, on the Oltrearno side of town, but lies on a quite street a few minutes from Piazza Santo Spirito, the beautiful views from Bellosguardo and Via Michelangelo. With the bike you're less than ten minutes from Ponte Vecchio.

I had such a wonderful stay at this B&B! The room was absolutely beautiful and exactly as shown in the photos. It was also quite spacious and the bed extremely comfortable. The hostess is an avid art lover and painter herself (ask to see her work! her pieces are also around the house), and if you can understand a bit of Italian you may get an art history lesson with your breakfast! The location is a about a 20 minute walk from the main center (or only a few minutes by bus) but really not an inconvenience as it's such a beautiful walking city anyway. I highly recommend it if you want to have a beautiful and relaxing (and quiet!) place to come back to after a long day of exploring the city! One thing to mention is that it's a shared bathroom, but that really wasn't an issue for me. This will definitely be the place I stay on future visits to Florence.

This small B&B located in the quiet non-touristic area of Florence, about 25 min walk from the city center, or less than 5 min walk from the bus stop. Donatella is a wonderful host, starting off with recommendations on sightseeing and restaurants, info on transportation, great breakfast, and she even helped me make a reservation for museums. The premise is kept extremely clean, and the single room I stayed was well decorated and just the perfect size; not too large but not too small. Just for an information, the single room and the smaller double room share the bathroom (which is also kept very clean).

We traveled with my wife's sister and mother-in-law and stayed in a seperate room. This was our favorite place we stayed during our trip. Our hosts were great! The first morning we had to leave early to make our reservations to a museum and Donatella made sure to have our great breakfast ready for us more than an hour early. She was able to sell us tickets to the buses and explained exactly where to catch them saving us a lot of time. The location was excellent for us. We like to walk and the center of everything is only about 15 minutes on foot, less by bus. There are great restaurants within 5-10 minutes walking. The best part about the B&B was that you are still in town but you are in a very NICE neighborhood with very little traffic and NO noise at night. We had a great balcony where I would sit at night and enjoy the beauty and quiet because there are no houses behind the B&B, just a hill with trees. One last thing, My wife is very hard to please when it comes to cleanliness of hotel rooms. This was the only place we stayed in Italy that she was able to relax and know that everything was Very clean. I could go on and on.

Location was great. It was on the less touristy side of the river, but still within walking distance of most attractions and was close to a bus route for others. We stayed in the top floor apartment, which was wonderful as we had our own private bathroom, balcony and small kithchen. The ceilings are slightly low, but that is to be expected on a top floor. It was apparent from the time that we arrived that the rooms were well cleaned. Donatella was a gracious hostess and went out of her way to make our stay special. Breakfast each morning was wonderful and consisted of coffee, juice, fruit, yogurt, various breads/pastries and jams. Our group would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Donatella!

We truly enjoyed our stay!! B&B Mount Oliveto is within walking distance of the rail station and center of town, but in a Florence neighborhood, that was quiet and comfortable. We walked everywhere and only used the bus to and from the train station with heavy luggage. Our room was charming! - very clean, spacious, quiet, and elegant in a provincial style. The bed was very comfortable. Sometimes our bathroom is shared with one other room, but not during our visit. Breakfasts in the garden patio were well served and the food very tasty. Donatello recommended two excellent restaurants within walking distance and made reservations for us. She also had maps, local bus tickets, etc. Our last night we walked to the corner bistro, bought sandwiches and local beer, and ate them on her lovely flowered patio watching the swallows fly and the sun set.

This is a true treasure in the heart of a busy city. It is a wonderful walk along the river or the Oltrarno into the center and to awake with birdsong is a gift! Donatella is a delightful host and made me feel right at home.

Excellent hosts! The room was well decorated, roomy, and very clean. The location was a residential type neighborhood, so it was quiet upon our return each evening. If you are okay with a healthy (about 15 minutes) walk to the main part of town (or a quick cab ride), then this location is excellent!

This is my first trip to Florence and staying at Monte Olivate definitely enhanced my experience there. I travelled through Europe for 5 weeks, and this is one of the best accomodations I stayed in. The owners are lovely people, and are really warm and welcoming. They provided map, recommadations, guide books and even tasty home made cake for breakfast! What is great is the personal touches here and there which the owners thoughtfully provided. Staying there is like staying at a friend's place, and I enjoyed the personal touches very much. The room was clean and comfortable, and had everything you would required, travel books and even tea/coffee making facilities (which most hotels I stayed in did not provided). I stayed in one of the smaller single room, right next to the bathroom, and I think all their rooms are individually decorated (some bigger double rooms with their own bathrooms I think). For the price, I think it is really a good deal (especially considering that this is Europe). The homely and cosy environment is really nice, and being in a quiet residential area is another plus. They also have a lovely garden which we can look out to during breakfast, and would be even lovelier in summer ( I was there during November). The location is good too, within walking distance to Uffizi area. As I was there during the low season, I could even walked to the Uffizi once I checked in, get my ticket/entry time for the next day (no queue), and get in early the next morning without having to stand in the queue. It's fairly easy to get there by bus once you find the right bus-stop. From the front of the train station, just cross the road to where the bus-ticket booth is, go behind the booth, cross another road, and with your back facing the train station direction, and turn left, walk straight until you see the bus-stop. Monte Oliveto is south of the Arno in a quiet, residential neighborhood - a welcome relief from the tourist crowds in downtown Florence. Beyond location, our room was clean and charming, the bed was the most comfortable we had in 2 weeks in Italy, and breakfast was lovely. Donatella and Nicolo, who own this B&B, could not have been more welcoming and helpful - very concerned that our stay in Florence was comfortable and wonderful. I had the feeling that if we lived there, we would be friends with them. Any time we are in Florence, we will stay at Monte Oliveto.

Veramente un bed and breakfast molto bello ed accogliente. Donatella e Nicolo' sono sempre molto disponibili, la stanza era grande ed accogliente, le colazioni ottime ed abbondanti, con tantissime cose fatte a mano dalla stessa Donatella. Con una passeggiata di 15 minuti in un quartiere ancora autentico di Firenze si e' in centro. Forse un po' caro rispetto ad altre soluzioni, ma sicuramente vale piu' di quel che costa! Consigiliatissimo.

We arrived by taxi so had no trouble finding it. The accommodations were very nice. The bathroom was external but no one else was on our floor so we did not share it. Each morning, Donatella prepared a lovely breakfast for us, including crepes, organic homemade chocolates, cakes and cappuccino. Nicollo was very helpful with suggestions for local restaurants and made reservations for us. The street was quiet, safe at all hours, and was a nice breather from tourist-heavy downtown, though near enough for walking. Other guests used the bus with ease but we did it all on foot, no problem. There were small delis nearby, and also a bank. When we go back to Florence, we will try to stay here again.

Donatella & Nikola really look after you. Very charming place, fabulous breakfast, sophisticated surroundings and overall a delightful experience.

To leave Monte Olieveto is very hard because you really feel at home in this house.The rooms are very clean, cosy with tasteful furniture. The breakfast is various, I enjoyed the home-made cakes of Donatella and sitting on the terrace was so nice. Both hosts are very friendly and helpful. I´m looking forward to my next visit!

Donatella is a wonderful, welcoming hostess who made us feel welcome, helped with reservations, and was a friendly face after a long dsy of walking in Florence. The B&B looks exactly as pictured, charming, updated, and clean. I traveled with my teenage son, but would love to return with my husband. I highly recommend it!
