We were in the Florence area for a week in early March. The location of this B&B was perfect! The Duomo and center of historic district was within a few blocks. Everything was within a 15 to 20 minute walk (main attractions, train station, Piazzale Michelangelo, Giardino di Bobali). Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean and warm. There was adequate closet space, a mini frig, table and chairs in our room. The rooms are quiet because they are in the back of the building so no noise from the street but not the best of views from your window. There is some noise between the rooms but nothing more than what you hear in hotels. Each night or morning we found a card by our door which gave us a complimentary european breakfast at a cafe just a few meters down the street....I great benefit since it could be used at anytime during the day for a coffee with pastry or small sandwich. The only thing that might be a problem for some travelers (it was not for us) is that the host (Riccardo) is not around very much so if you need direction or advise on anything be sure to ask when you check in, but he does leave his number on the office door that you can call anytime for assistance and he is very nice and accommodating. The one thing we realized while traveling in Italy is that it doesn't matter whether you stay at a B&B or a 4 star hotel (which we did in Siena) there are no comfortable beds, but we were very pleased with our stay at Locanda de Ciompi, We would recommend it to anyone traveling to Florence.

Riccardo, the manager and host, is very friendly and informative and a pleasure to talk with. The room was quite pretty, with wood beamed ceilings. Breakfast was brought to the room at the time requested- simple but good. The hotel is quite close to a supermercato and market. About 30 minute walk to train station, 15 minutes to il Duomo. Definitely climb up into the dome!

Very clean, comfortable and elegant room (on back of building). Very quiet most of the time. Firm mattress, great shower and bathroom. Breakfast okay. Be sure to check out the wonderful flea market in Piazza de' Ciompi and the gelatto shop next door.

we arrived after the check in time, not entirely due to the fact that the street changes names and we walked around a bit. I called Fillippo to let him know that we had arrived. He was a bit put out but agreed to meet me at the B&B. He was quite pleasant once we met in person. And he treated me graciously. I was shown to our room (my kids had gone ahead and found a restaurant). Breakfast was ordered for the following morning and delivered promptly. The cappucino was delightful with rich foam on top. The facilities were very clean and seemed to have been newly renovated. The bathroom was state of the art. I would recommend this Bed and Breakfast to anyone staying in Florence. It was quite well situated for sightseeing.

Locanda de' Ciompi is more than just a B&B in terms of the service and the quality of rooms. We were highly impressed with everything that this place has to offer us! To our pleasant surprise, the room that we stayed was spotless and spacious. You can tell that the building was carefully maintained and renovated in such a way that makes this place so charming! It came with very high ceilings and wooden floors! The bathroom comes in a good size equipped with hotel-standard amenities! They also clean the rooms everyday. The breakfast, served in our rooms, was basic: croissant, cornflakes, yogurt, fruit juice, biscuits, selection of jam and Italian coffee. It did not feel cramped at all because the room is spacious enough for two people to enjoy breakfast. Fillipo is a superstar. He made us feel very much at home, and his manner and attitude are genuine, helpful and friendly. He came across to us as a very polite staff who is very keen to help us. For example, he helped us book the museum and gave us useful information regarding Florence. As advertised, this B&B is centrally located in the heart of Florence. If you are coming from the train station, take Bus No. 14. There is a supermarket "STANDA" just a few buildings away. The value of staying here is unquestionable. It exceeded our expectations in every way.

The breakfast here was substandard. A packaged dry croissant, yogurt, cappuccino and juice were offered; however, when we were unable to partake because we had a reservation at a museum, the hotel provided some yogurt and juice in the refrigerator on the first day, but nothing on the second day we were out of the room before breakfast was served, even though the hotel staff said they would leave food for us. Then, when we were unable to eat what was left and left it in the refrigerator for the next day, the staff removed everything from our refrigerator, and when I mentioned it to him, he said he always takes what is not eaten or drunk away. Thus, we paid for something that was then taken from us. Moreover, the young man who ran the hotel spoke very little English, and could not help us at all with questions. The room, however, was lovely, and the location great. We had a lovely time in Florence, and would recommend this facility, even though the breakfasts were inedible, and the staff unhelpful, to others. There should be a lower-cost option to take the room without the breakfast, given the breakfast was so minimal.

Ideal for visitors on a budget who want a central location. Good price for a very convenient spot - only a short walk to the Duomo and most historic sites and sights. Fascinating flea market just opposite in the Piazza de' Ciompi. Breakfast served in the room was basic but pleasant. The young man on Reception seemed to do almost everything including bringing the breakfast! Very helpful and charming. Spotlessly clean. Overall good value in an expensive city.

We stayed in a triple bed room and it was excellent. Everything was spot on from what they mentioned on the website. It is in good location, walking distance to all the tourist attractions. The room was very very spacious, very clean and very quiet (when the windows are closed). Unfortunately, the air condiotioning broke down while we were there, they provided us with a fan but the room still got a bit hot. They gave us a discount for it as soon as we asked. I would highly recommend this property.

My husband and I stayed for one night. We were with friends from church and we were surprised at the safety measures implemented to enter the B & B. The staff was most accommodating. They arranged for a taxi for us the next morning. They left breakfast essentials in the refrigerator since we were leaving so early in the morning and they gave us helpful directions to the areas we wanted to visit. The rooms are very clean and the amenities are excellent. We would stay there again.

My partner and I had 3 days in Florence and were overall very happy with this choice. The manager met us initially and was very welcoming but we didn't see him again and were left with an employee that didn't speak a lot of english but was friendly. Continental Breakfast provided was very good with lots of choices including cereal, croissant, toast (packet stuff, it's everywhere!) hot drink etc. Room was lovely, better than expected in the pictures. Street side is a bit noisy with an open air bar just down the road. Location wise, it's average - 15 min walk to Uffizi but has some great cheap little restaurants just down the street. If coming by car, it's a crazy setup. No cars allowed in the CBD but you can drive to the hotel. The owner will arrange to wipe your fine with the police. He will direct you to a parking garage up the road (30euro/night) or there's free parking out of the CBD. Beware, no free parking on Sunday - you'll get towed like we did. But owner was very helpful finding the car and sorting us out.
