Home in Florence exceeded all our expectations. It is situated ideally for people who love to walk a bit, all the highlights of the City are within half an hour's walk. Rooms quiet and pleasant and tastefully decorated, hosts lovely, helpful and friendly.

Is the best place we have stayed on our europtrip. Great location, staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are super spacious and we had our massive bathroom right next to the breakfast room. Only problem was wifi didntwork in our room so had to use it in the public area. No big deal but annoying. Definitely will be back again. Great value for what you pay for. More accomodations should be like this.

We were returning to Florence on our way back home and we decided that we would stay on the other side of the Arno from the old precinct to get a different perspective of the city. We were very glad we did. The B&B really was a home away from home. The amazing breakfast room with complimentary wine, biscuits, tea, coffee the works all laid on all hours of the day. It was where residents could catch up and meet and talk about their travels. Or simply rest and refuel. It was close to the Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens and a spit from one of the best restaurants we discovered on our travels -- Trattoria Boboli. The Bistecca was out of this world. It was also a pleasant stroll to the Ponte Vecchio. Max the Maitre D' was welcoming, amusing and informative. What more could you want. The Raffael room was luxurious, with its own lounge chairs and ceiling fresco! We have recommended Home In Florence to all our friends. It's a real find.

Very good accomodation along with excellent service from Paolo as per the previous reviews. The location is very good just down from the Pitti Palace. This was the time that the icelandic volcano hit and he was really helpful. We would stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic b&b exceeded all our expectations - set in the Oltrarno area and within walking distance of all sites. Host was very gracious giving us tips and ideas of places to visit and places to eat. Little extra touches made the whole trip extra special. Exceptional value overall, definitely recommended.

Very close to Santo Spirito, but still quiet neighborhood. Room was nicely furnished, attractive brocade curtains and bed coverings, painted ceiling (late 19th c. looking), large enough tub, working AC, and wifi in the room (as important as water). All at a very reasonable price. My son and I will certainly book here again.

A small bed and breakfast in what is effectively a large old-fashioned 1-st floor apartment in a very central, yet quiet and residential area of Florence. The room we stayed in had a good bed, air conditioning and a small, but immaculate bathroom. There's a free high-speed Internet, accessible either from your laptop or from several PCs in common areas. The host is a great hospitable man (unless, of course, the Italian emotional straightforwardness isn't your idea of hospitality) who takes great pleasure is telling you about the surroundings. A hidden jam - highly recommended.

The place was great. Even though we couldn't find the place and finally got there really late, the manager waited for us until we arrived. The room was really comfortable and clean, with a spacious bathroom (for an european b&b) and with everything needed.

Travelled to Florence with my wife and parents. Arrived at hotel late at night but Paolo was there to greet us. The rooms were very clean, spacious, warm and full of character. You can pay much more and stay in more modern hotels but you would miss out on the character that this hotel offers. The steps were no problem (two small flights). Breakfast was at a local cafe but once again this is part of the culture that should be experienced (rocket fuel coffee). Paolo told us the best places to visit, the best walks and most importantly the best restaurants. If we visit Florence again we would definitley stay here again and also recommend to all. Paolo even posted back to me a T-Shirt that I left in the room!!!

I'd definitely recommend this place, it was excellent value; clean, great location, very friendly. It was so nice to be welcomed with a map of the city, with loads of personal recommendations for places to eat, nice walks + views, good ice-cream shops etc etc. Everywhere we wanted to go was within easy walking distance. We would certainly stay here again if we come back to Florence.

Great quality - spacious rooms - very clean - great value. The location is great if you don't have a problem traveling on foot. The major tourist destinations are only a 10-15 minute pleasant walk. The location is in a residential neighborhood (preferable for lower noise and lower priced eating options). Highly recommended.

The stay was very enjoyable, the place was very clean, warm and comfortable. It was very good having easy free accress to internet. Massimiliano was very friendly and helpful. It was excellent value for money but my only reservation was the owner insisting on cash payment before we even saw the room! the website stated i would pay by card at the end of my stay but instead had to give most of the cash i had brought with me, forcing me withdraw more cash in italy which i wanted to avoid. I am still very happy overall but i should have been warned by email about the compulsory cash payment on arrival.

The hotel room was excellent, clean and spacious. The element that let it down was the 'breakfast', which had to be taken in a cafe a little distance away. It was welcoming, but a little seedy, slot machines and smokers in a small space. Not one for the fastidious. But Massimiliano is a gem.

We had a very nice stay at this B&B. It is quite cheap for Florence, not far from the historic centre and about 20 minutes on foot from the station. The beds are very comfortable and it is very quiet at all times. We didn't book the breakfast because it's cheaper to choose your own café, for example on San Spirito Piazza. We would certainly recommand this B&B.

The location is perfect, literally a one minute walk to the Duomo. The windows are sound proof so it's very quiet. The Florence B&B was a great place to stay in Florence. Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable (with air conditioning). The only set back was that it was a 10 minute walk from many of the attractions in Florence, but the walk was nice anyway! The B&B was very accommodating, helping us get a taxi back to the train station. Overall, a great stay!

A great place. The only issue we had was check-in. We were driving there, and we did not have cell phones. I told them we would try to arrive by noon, but if not, we would arrive during normal operating hours. I also told them that we didn't have a cell phone. Apparently they only read the part about arriving by noon. We arrived in the afternoon, but during normal operating hours, and could not get in. The front desk was closed. It turns out they do not really have "normal hours". They make their own hours. We then had to find a pay phone and call them to come let us in. When he arrived, he was very rude to us, and made it seem that we were troubling him to let us in. He was not welcoming at all. But once there, the room, the price, and the location were very good. The free bottle of wine is a nice touch.

The room was darker than advertised, not as bright as pictured. The staff were helpful in lending advice, however one staff member would shout "who is that?" which was alarming. I don't know details, however he made my girlfirned very uncomfortable on 1 on 1 situations. This same individual did almost nothing to assist us in calling a taxi. Saying he was unable to reach one, after minimal effort. When we later arrived at the train station we saw 9 taxis waiting for work. We had heavy luggage and knowing this he did little to help us other than to say he could do nothing and point us to a public bus. It did nopt leave us with a good last impression of the B&B.

Location was further from downtown then pictured and expected. We attempted to move to another hotel because of this and the manager refused to let us out of the contract, so we would have lost the monies paid if we moved. It was a good walk to downtoan area, and the bedfast setup is horrible. You have to walk to a cafe that is on the next street and they only had a couple of items that could be purchased with your coupon stub. I would not stay here again nor would I recommend for someone that wants to be in the middle of it all.

A good place in a good location. It is close to the center and very close to Palazzo Pitti. You can reach all the touristic attractions in a 10-15 minutes walk. Rooms are clean and spacious. We didn't spend in the hotel many hours but it is generally a good place to stay. May be it is a little bit expensive for the structure it offers but the reason could be that we arrived in a very crowded period in the middle of italian hoidays. Generally life in Florence is a little bit expensive.

Located in nice neighborhood in Otroarno a little south of the river. The owner is fabulous--he gave us so much information about Florance when we arrived. He marked up our map with some of the best restaurants that I have EVER BEEN TO!! The place is charming and hidden away on a little side street. The neighborhood is fun to wander also. I would only stay here if I return to Florence.

The reception was good, despite the fact we told him that we would be arriving at one, and when we were 15 minutes late, he was not around. Luckily we were able to find a pay phone and call, to which he arrived within 10 minutes, otherwise we would have been out of luck for a couple hours. The room was like the pics, however there was a funky "pickle" smell as the wife said. And the windows are along the street, so even with the window closed, every person or scooter that goes by will inevitably wake you up. Other than that, the location was great (within easy walking distance to everything) and the restaurant recommended by our receptionist was the best we had in Italy for the value.

Paolo is a gem. We spoke the day before our arrival and he had everything ready for our stay (including a bottle of wine). He reccommended wonderful restaurants in all price ranges. His sight-seeing suggestions were great. Also, Paolo and his son both answered any questions we had about shopping for wine, leather, etc. The room was fine. The bathroom is large and clean. The heat was just right. It runs from 5 PM to 12 AM, but the thick walls retain the heat and we weren't cold. Paolo even offered us additional storage for our luggage (which we didn't need), since we packed everything but the kitchen sink. The fridge, safe, satellite tv, and internet were fine. The internet was faster than my DSL at home. Breakfast was nice. The bar owner was friendly and encouraged us to order whatever we wanted from the menu.

We stayed for three nights during Nov 07 and the place was good and clean. It is family managed. People are friendly and they helped us on traveling and places to visit in florence. We emailed the owner telling him what time wewould be arriving, when we arrived the B&B was locked and there was nobody to greet us. Our US cel phones did not work and we had to ask a passerby to please call for us. It took about 10 more minutes of standing out in the rain for someone to arrive and show us in. The rooms were up two long flights of stairs which was difficult for an older memeber of our party. Breakfast consisting of a pastry and coffee which was obtained off site was a dissapointment.

A value gem south of the Arno! B&B in Florence was the perfect find for us. We loved the location on a quiet side street in what looks to be a bohemian/artist haven. It is a short walk to the lively San Spirito square, location of the famous Church Of San Spirito and some amazing local restaurants (Casalinga). Another short walk from there gets you to Ponte Vecchio. If you are looking for value for money and don't need all the hotel fluff, this place is perfecto!

Situation excellent for Pitti Palace and within easy walking distance of main sites in historic centre. As said in website, situated up stairs but these were not steep and were well lit. Staff friendly and polite, provided kettle to allow us to make tea/coffee in the room and offered good advice on eating out. Eating breakfast in cafe round the corner, again friendly and welcoming staff, gave an early insight into Italian style and the lives of ordinary folk. Try to learn the basics of the language, it is appreciated by staff in shops and eating establishments, though most cope with non-Italian speakers. Despite work being done in flat above, and in the flat across the road, little noise was heard in the residence and workmen were tidy and polite.

This was my first visit to Florence so I found the B&B at first a bit difficult to locate. It is located south of the river and sits in a side street behind a nondescript door among a maze of other similar doors in the area. There are 3 flights of stairs to climb to reach the B&B rooms, so people with restricted movement may not fare well there. The facility is somewhat out of the heavy traffic zone, though, which was a plus from my standpoint. The owner met us promptly on my call at arrival, checked us in and collected our lodging fees. We didn't see him again until we were ready to check out...but we also didn't need him as nothing was amiss in our accommodation. The room was clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was provided by voucher at a nearby trattoria (croissant, juice and cappucino). The price for this room was quite reasonable, compared to other lodgings in the area. I would stay there again. We highly recommend a nearby restaurant in the San Spirito Piazza called Borgo Antico. Food was fresh, well prepared and in ample servings. If you like seafood opt for their seafood bowl; you'll be amazed at its size! The same is true for their giant salads.

Our second stay in florence. it was mid june and we were a party of 6 with a triple , double and single.the rooms were spacious and very clean.the breakfast typical with roll and juice at nearby bar. bar owner was very nice and we ate in back room that was pleasent. owners were very helpful. only problem was distance fron train station was about a mile. cab ride was about 15 euros. distance to downtown florence was about 3/4 mile. those less fit might have problem. florence has so much art , shops and history that it is always fun. recommend uffizi and galleria academia where david by michaelangelo is located. have the hotel make advance reservations for both. lines without reservations were very long and some people did not get in. we walked in right away with reservations. also must be made several days in advance. saw bargello , medici chapel and many churches. duomo and santa croce are must see. santa croce is like west minister abbey with an italian history lesson . many famous people buried there. i have climbed both giotto's dome and chuch tower. both great views but dome is easier climb. finally michaelangelo piazza well worth the bus trip and church(san miniato al monte) behind piazza worth the look for its beauty and view of city.the bed and breakfast was very good for florence but next time we might go across river closer to duomo. service was very good and brothers who ran it very helpful. also had free internet which was big plus to several in party. overall stay was good.

This was the least personal of our B&Bs, but was the largest and most well-equipped as well. The location gave us easy access to everything in Florence, and the off-site breakfast area, which was several blocks away, provided us a with a wonderful grape-arbor-covered patio and excellent food.

From the train station take the bus (numbers 36, 37 or 11) south across the Arno river to the Compuccio stop (about the 3rd one). Walk south to Via Santa Maria and turn left. The B&B is about half way down the block. The B&B is located in the old town. It's about a 20 minute walk back across the river to all the major sights. The Pitti Palace is about 10 minutes away. You can take the same buses back into town. This is a very quiet place on the quiet side of the river. Both Paolo and Maximilliano were very helpful in telling us what to see and arranging reservations, taxis, etc. Breakfast is arranged at a nearby bar/espresso shop that has a quiet court yard in the back and the folks there are friendly. There are numerous Trattorias with in walking distance. This was our favorite stay of all the Venere spots we used.

Our first trip to Italy. We chose to stay at this B&B for a week because of the very reasonable price and excellent reviews. We were not dissappointed. Our helpful and friendly host: Max met us on arrival; he spoke good English, he was available at the property during office hours and out of these times was available by telephone if necessary. We were provided with a set of keys and were able to come and go as we liked which was great. We had a large, clean, comfortable room with en suite facilities. It was useful to have an empty fridge to store bottled water or drinks but it would have been nice to have had a kettle as we do like an early morning cup of tea! Some guests will also find the free Internet access useful. The B&B would not be suitable for anyone who is unable to manage a flight of stairs but for those who are mobile it is very conveniently situated; we were able to walk from the station and around Florence easily. This would be a great place for couples to stay or families with older children.

This is a great place to stay if you see a real neighborhood, with real Florentines, and wish to pay witness to their daily lives as part of your trip. The hotel was lovely. The room was large and the bathroom was big with plenty of hot water (a nice surprise on both fronts). The breakfast, note, is served off-site at a bar down the street and around the corner, but that was fine as we got to stand elbow-to-elbow, sipping cappucinos, with Florentines starting their day.

Me and my fiance stayed here for 4 nights in July. We enjoyed our staying very much. The manager of the property Marco has been very helpful. The location is just short distance away from the city center and very convenient to get to the bus if you don't feel like walking. We got the room which was shown on the web site, nice, clean with a big window and very quiet. There is a small refrig. and TV and 24 hours adjustable AC provided. If you don't like AC just turn it off and let the window open, it was cool enough during the night even in July. Bathroom was newly renovated with a shower( though a bit of small) and cleaning kit. The maid make sure the room is in order everyday and change sheets, towels every two days. Computer is available in the hall way for all guests, free of charge. We would like to stay here again. FYI, we highly recommended this restaurant Trattoria del Carmine.(Piazza del Carmine,18r) It's just few minutes walk from the B&B. Many locals go there. They provided great tuscany cuisine with reasonable price. Wait staff were very friendly and helpful.
