Fattora Settemerli was one of my favorite places we stayed in our 30 day tour of Italy. Need better (any!) directions to find it, but once there it is beautiful. You get two vacations in one, the hustle and bustle of Florence and the serene country of Settemerli. Not much English spoken here, so our little knowledge of Italian and lots of Spanish came in handy. There is a short walk to the farm-house gate, in order to catch the #36 bus, #37 is just a little further, that takes you to all the tourist areas of Florence. Some have said this is difficult...it is not. Breakfast is good and gardens nice for wine & cheese, but bring mosquito repellent. Owners and staff very gracious.

We stayed in a very nice romantic room inside the tipical tuscany nature, clean and roomy enough. You sleep so quitely here that you won't be able to wake up in time to visit the Certosa, so close to the fattoria Settemerli by all means, this horrible timetable close already at 11.30 !! Thanks God the nature does not have any timetable

We arrived late night for our week stay and had a moment of worry about the seemingly long, dark driveway to find the Fattoria Settemerli in a taxi from the main road. Once there though we were very happily surprised and pleasantly greeted by our host, Cossimo. The other staff were also warm and friendly and served a good basic breakfast to start our day right. The contrast from the bustle of Florence made it feel like 2 holidays in 1. What a stunning place. Take your insect repellent and you'll be set for a stay to remember. The surroundings are idyllic and after a hard days queuing for the galleries in the city it's a haven of peace and quiet and ideal to wind down in the courtyard with a bottle of the local red wine. Galluzzo village has it's fantastic pizzeria at the corner of the sq. and there is a great winery selling beautiful reds at very cheap prices (as I mention above). The sights of Florence are only 10mins away on the regular buses from Galluzzo. A 10 journey pass is a good bet and cheaper than idividual tickets. We can't reccommend this place enough. Well worth a second visit.

Our stay was absolutely fantastic! I can't begin to describe the rooms, the surroundings, the town - it just has to be experienced! My only suggestion is for the website to specify Bus 36 from Florence - it took us a while, especially with the language barrier, to find the Fattoria Settemerli. Other than that, it is an incredible place - our favorite stay in Europe.

Loved the location, grounds and staff! Only 10-15 minutes by bus to Florence (bus stop at farmhouse gate!) So very nice to come back to this peaceful retreat after a full day in the city! BIG kudos to Walkeria and Avi for their hospitality!! We hope the owners of Fattoria Settemerli appreciate these wonderful women! Online photos do not do justice to this 13th century beauty! The only minuses: no real indoor place to congregate/visit in case of foul weather and the outdoor sitting areas and furniture were not clean/well cared for. Galuzzo is a quaint little town with a fun outdoor market, wonderful pasticcheria and osteria! Be aware that because this is a small town, things close up early, including restaurants. Must eats: i'Canneto (open Sunday evenings but closed Mondays)

If you are young and/or like minimalist furnishings (i.e. no tat) then dont stay here. We arrived and were shown to an attic room swathed in a red light reminiscent of a Hitchcock thriller or a French avant garde film about Parisian ladies of the night. The red light was due to to the fact that the blind on the skylight was broken but, when it was pulled down, revealed our "view" of a chimney and the car park. It also revealed the dust and overall tattiness of the room and its cleanliness. Just to cheer us up that afternoon my wife was bitten 30 times in 30 minutes sat outside this hell hole by an errant mosquito. The local village was OK with a nice pizza place on the main square. When in Florence we tried a Florentine steak which was poor in comparison with the one we had the following day when driving round Tuscany. Overall I would not return to this place unless guarenteed one of the better rooms, if at all. Our feeling was that the Brits who could not speak much Italian were given the lowest quality rooms as we could not coherently complain and when I did ask to be moved the little English spoken by the landlady (Madame?) dissolved into nothing but a shrug of the shoulders. The breakfast was served at such a time that if we had have bothered to have it we would have been forced to queue for ages in Florence for the attractions (in the event we chose to eat breakfast at McDonalds or stood up in a cafe rather than sat down outside as that cost several times what we paid) I do not feel we were given what was promised by the photos and other reviews.

This is an excellent place to stay if you want to see Florence culture and on top of that stay a bit away of the city (that is not very homelike indeed). This farmhouse is a masterpiece set up like the old grandpa's house and it fills you with a very warm feeling, inspiration and even mistique at night. Beautiful hills around. VERY friendly reception by a house lady. Will never forget our breakfasts in the yard and fireflies in the night.

The person in charge was different practically every day. They were never Florence natives, and could barely describe how to take the rather difficult to use bus - the website makes the bus trip sound easy, but it was far from that, and saying 10 minutes to downtown Florence was a great exaggeration. They did not know a number to call a taxi either. (And the taxis could not find this place anyways). Nor did they know how to reach any of the other Florence rail stations except the main one. There did not seem to be anyone around in the evenings should a problem arise. There was NO AIR CONDITIONING except for an extra charge - that was one of the features I chose the property for. I would not recommend it.

We went to Fattoria Settemerli to chill out for a couple of days between sightseeing in Florence and Venice, partly because one of the group was beguiled by 'A room with a view' and wanted views of Tuscany. She wasn't disappointed although it's close enough to Florence to use as a base. We stayed in the rooms shown in the 'exterior view' on the web site and one room was the 'double room' shown. Thoroughly enjoyable. The only drawback was the walk into Galluzzo for food and wine. Although breakfast is included in the price, the web page focuses on Settimerli as a base for visiting Florence and ignores lunch and evening meal for those like us who might be just taking a break. No problem for people with a car but has to be set against the advertised 'relaxing walks'. Not every one will want to walk there and back twice a day, especially after a very convivial evening meal at the pizzeria I'Canneto on the far side of the square in Galluzzo. It is excellent: friendly service, tasty food, very quaffable vino della cassa, reasonable prices. The locals like it too and you'll have to book on Saturday nights.

don't be worried about being out of Florence city centre. A 15 minute walk takes you to a bus stop in Galuzzo and then another 10mins on the bus takes you to the centre of the city. the buses run until ~midnight, and I doubt that a taxi back would be expensive. we really enjoyed our stay and found it very peaceful and relaxing. You can eat out cheaply in the restuarant on the square in Galuzzo and buy your bus tickets at the tabac on the square. The family will tell you this if you ask

Beautiful place and we enjoyed the surrounding countryside. The hosts were very pleasant. However, when we reserved the space we were told that the rate included accommodations and breakfast. We were not offered or served breakfast, and when we inquired about it we were told that they were more or less closed until Christmas time. This was not mentioned at the time of booking, but when we paid they were kind and reduced the amount because of the misunderstanding.

If you want to visit Florence, but are not sure if you can put up with the noise and crowds of the city 24/7 then the Fattoria Settemerli should be your first choice for accomodation. Although it is situated in a village on the outskirts of Florence, within 15 minutes bus-ride of the city centre, its peacefulness and the rolling fields surrounding Settemerli could easily lead a visitor to believe they were in the depths of the countryside. The building itself is stunning- once part of a 14th century monastery, I believe, and our room was cosy and comfortable (I do like a hard bed though!) Breakfast is served in a beautiful old-fashioned dining room with a huge fireplace and consists of, amongst other things, delicious and unusual jams made in the monastery and fresh eggs from the farm. The owners are very friendly, as are their pets (we met two cats, a parrot and some chickens!). We were reliant on public transport for the duration of our stay and once we'd found our bearings, had a completely hassle free time travelling to and fro to the city centre. The #36 (or #37) bus will take you from the piazza in front of Santa Maria Novella church (2 minutes from the station in Florence) all the way to a stop called Le Gore, where infront of you as you step off the bus is the gate leading to Settemerli (a further 5 minute walk away). The #37 bus doesn't take you up to the gate, but drops you in the village of Galluzzo, which is a very short walk to Le Gore. This is also true of the #68 bus which takes over from the #36/37 at around 9pm, and will get you home from Florence until half past midnight.

The rating says everything: Fattoria Settemerli is an expierience we don't want to miss. We recomend this magical place to everybody who wants to enjoy an unconventional, relaxing and romantic trip, far (but not too far) away from traffic, party and all the touristy places. Have a day or two in the city of Florence, but most of all you should take your time sitting or lying in the fairy tale garden of the Fattoria. If you arrive at the central station of Florence for the first time and want to go to the Fattoria by bus, look for PIAZZA SANTA MARIA NOVELLA (a little south of the train station) and take bus number 36. Now we wish you a nice stay, greet the little elves from us. Sarah and Julius

This place is exquisitely located in a rural Tuscan countryside setting. It has been fun to tell others about this beautiful and rustic Tuscan farmhouse...quiet all night...roosters in the morning...excellent breakfasts...and panaramic views, including an old monestary. Wonderful and friendly hosts! Beautiful garden and courtyard in which to take an afternoon or evening tea. These accomodations are very highly recommended. We were sometimes torn between spending time at the farmhouse and the Florentine attractions.

We elected to stay in a double room, which was essentially a B & B option, as it turned out. Italy was experiencing a heatwave and the room did not have air conditioning as standard (although we could see that it had the facility), but rather we had to search out the owner and request the remote control for it - at a cost of 5 euros a day. The room would have benefitted from a fridge, and with the amount of land surrounding the farm and the heat of Florentine summers, I think that the owner would do well to invest in a pool!

It was a wonderful beautiful property and my stay there was just great. I did not have any contact with them before I arrived which is why I ignored part of the questionnaire. All my arrangemnets were made through a travel agency. The meals were wonderful and the hotel was very accommodating with my allergy needs.I did find the beds too hard, but was able to fix that with extra blankets, so it was not a problem. I was surprised by the extra cost of using the email as I had been given no indication that there would be a charge.

It was really hot in Florence during our stay and the "short walk" from the bus stop to the farmhouse was longer and steeper than we had anticipated. However, the owner met us with a car to handle our luggage when we checked in and drove us (and our luggage) to a more convenient bus stop when we checked out. We had anticipated a one-story building from the pictures on the web site and were surprised to find that the 2 bedroom unit was a 3 story set-up with the bedrooms on the 3rd floor. Fans in the bedrooms allowed us comfortable sleeping conditions. However, mosquitoes were a problem, as there were no screens on the windows. We noticed standing water in several places outside providing prime mosquito-breeding environments. The shower in the upstairs bathroom was wonderful - water spigots everywhere! The views out the 3rd floor windows were beautiful.

We were very lucky to get a last minute booking at this ideally located farmhouse. It's far enough away from Florence to be very restful and relaxing while having the convenience factor of the buses and the nearby village of Galluzzo for doing the tourist thing. On top of the location is the excellent service (great assitance given to people who have various needs - renting cars for the day and the like), the fabulous farm breakfast (I'm Irish so I'm very partial to a boiled egg and tasty bread, ham, yogurts, tea etc....) This farmhouse is exactly what I thought it should be. If you want a hotel in the centre then that's what you should book but if you're looking to get away from the mad rush of the city for quiet evenings in the countryside with no tv etc., then I highly recommend Fattoria Settemerli. Enjoy your holiday!

The farmhouse "Fattoria Settemerli" was sorrounded by beautiful coutryside. this is an ideal place to stay and unwind for a few relaxing days. However there is a 1/4 mile walk up a long dirt track road to get to it, (so luggage with wheels or a hire car is best) but I can assure you if you walk it, it is well worth the hike! The #36 will take you straight to the main entrance to the Farhouse at "Le Gore" stop. The local village is less than a ten minute walk away, where you'll find a supermarket, various other food shops and a local market which is open until 12 noon (this is the best place to buy fruit, veg and bread). The centre of Florence is about 20 minutes by bus, or less if you decide to hire a car. The accomodation is very spacious, although the bathroom was slighty on the small side. We all throughly enjoyed our stay here, and would definately return.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Farmhouse for 4 nights, and it was brilliant. Speak to the younger girl who works there, as the couple who own the place have a tiny amount of English but the girl can speak very well. The setting is beautiful: you have the choice of getting the bus (the 36 being the main line, but take a walk just into the little town, left out of the exit, and you can catch a few more buses from there) into town, or taking in the scenery. Breakfast was pretty much all local produce, and they brought me hot water every morning for my Yorkshire tea! I would definitely go back.

Beautiful farm on a hill in the Tuscan country side at the end of the #36 bus line from Florence. Great get away from the crowds in Florence. This place is absolutely beautiful. The owners have kept it in great shape. It is located at the last stop of the #36 Bus (La Gore). If you take a taxi, or have one pick you up there, make that clear to them. Both times, the taxis got lost. From the electronic gate (you get a key) it is a 1/4 mile walk to the actual place down a dirt/gravel road. The bus stop is right at the gate. Note that after the 9-10pm time frame that only the #68 bus is available, and it drops you off by the piazza that is a 15 minute walk from the La Gore stop. There is a grocery store by the piazza also. The #68 night bus does not stop at your gate though. We chose to find this out on the one night that it downpoured while we were there! The price and location where great. It was about a 30 minute bus ride on the #36 to get to the historic district. The owners where very nice and helpful. They were driving in when we were walking back with all of our groceries, and stopped to take our groceries the rest of the way to the house for us. The 6 person apartment has two full bedrooms with double/queen beds, a large living room with a pull out couch, a kitchen with a nice marble topped table that seats six and a sink, stove, small refrigerator with freezer, and pots/pans/silverware/plates/bowls. There is also a nice shower in the upstairs bathroom. There is a half bath on the first floor. I recommend that you get wet, turn the water off, soap up, and then turn the water back on for rinsing off and washing your hair. If you leave the water on the whole time you will get about 2 minutes in the middle of your shower with absolutely cold water. This may be on purpose since utilities are very expensive in Italy and they do not run the water the entire time they take a shower. For the six of us it was less expensive than a hostel, and 100 times better. It is a quite area, so don't rent if you just plan on partying and possibly breaking things.

It´s a beatiful and quiet country place. Beautiful views. Very near to Florence and near to the highway to visit other places in Toscana like Siena. It´s necesary to go by car. People very friendship. Breakfast very good. Only one thing: the rooms are cleaned each two o three days, more or less. The bathroom a little small. But in my opinion it´s ok. I would recomend it. Enjoy it Toscana. It´s a wonderful place.

A lovely place, in the heart of the countryside but only 20 minutes to reach the centre of Florence. If returning late the taxis were just over 15 Euros from the centre of town. Great breakfast and very friendly people

It was the greatest way to start our honeymoon. Quiet, beautiful, nice people. They even gave us a ride back in the city when we left!

The place is just outside of Florence. It was not easy to find it according to the map in the site. Once we found it we were very happy. The house and it's surrounding are very pretty, and we could get in to the city with busses from the main street (5 min walk). We enjoyed the room which was not small and we even ate meals in the garden between it and the main house. The people are especially nice. They we're very warm and hospitable, and helped us in everything we needed. We recommend this place very much and definitely we will come back.
