Deerpark Lodge - Castleknock, Dublin

Nice place situated next to the gate of the Phoenix Park, the bus station (line 37, goes to the city centre) is just a few meters from the B&B. We had no breakfast and stayed at the room n. 9. The room was good, but the floor upstairs was very noisy. The bathroom was OK but there was no curtain in the shower and the water had a very low pressure.

If you stay in Room #2, be prepared to use ear plugs to sleep at night. The kitchen/office area is below and the TV blared at all hours of the day and night. (Listened to an argument at 3am one night.) Otherwise, a very nice area that is close to public transportation. And the staff were very helpful throughout the entire trip. Would definitely stay here again, just in a different room.

We stayed in Castleknock for 9 days over the Christmas Holiday. It was a terrible location for Christmas since the buses shut down and there was nothing open in Castleknock so we ended up just going to see the deer in nearby Fenix park. Any other day it was a good B&B for the money, the bus stop is just a couple of minutes walking down the road where a bus from the airport stops and Dublin is 20-30 min by bus. Our room was much nicer than we expected with a very comfortable bed, only thing missing was a door/curtain for the shower, but we didn't mind.

En suite bathroom was appalling, big cracks in sink, cracks at back of toilet pan, battered wooden toilet seat, shower was awful - stained badly sealed old tiles, and bathroom smelled stale. Family bedroom was large with 1 dble & 2 sngle beds but could have done with a good clean and wardrobe smelled stale. A flex stuck out above a bed with nothing attached to it. All beds creaked and had loose headboards. This was disappointing as the hotel is in a nice area near big park and has good parking. Breakfast average. Staff pleasant enough and let us book in very late but room facilities really need upgraded.

I liked the location and the price. It was just outside Phoenix Park which is a beautiful park, twice the size of Central Park in New York. I stayed 5 days to get rid of my jet lag and was on my way from NY to Amsterdam. The UR bus from the airport stopped right in front of the B&B (1 hour) as did the bus to Dublin (#37) which took about 20 minutes (doubledecker!). It is an excellent location for people arriving by car and if you are staying for more than 1 night, otherwise (if you want to see Dublin) a Dublin hotel might be more convenient. Bikes can be rented in the park. I was very happy with my stay in Deerpark Lodge and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

An excellent stay. I will try to come again. The building has no number, so it is quite a problem to find it. My taxi needed quite a time driving about. There should be a more detailed description of the location on the web.
