Bed and Breakfast Le Vieux Logis - Maintenon, Chartres

The room was beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was a little quirky, a few more utensils would have been nice. Rosalie the host was very nice and charming! It was a great stay. If you are looking for different and pleasant; this is it!It is also ideal for a visit to Chartres and Paris, main line train.

This place could be great if the rooms were de-cluttered by at least 75%. Nowhere to put your things as the owners had put STUFF on every available surface. TV screen was postage stamp size - unwatchable! Good supply of towels and bathrobes, very clean although a request for a late arrival was a firm "Must be by 21:00"!! Breakfast was very good, the best I've had in a Chambre D'hotes.

Stayed here on a recommendation from a UK friend who described it as "very bijoux". It was very much your eclectic aunt's rambling cottage chock full of knicknacks and like a maze inside. There is a very pleasant garden(we were served breakfast in) and pool that our short stay didn't allow us to take advantage of. The Landlord seemed to be having a personal crises while we were there and her helpers for check-in and at breakfast seemed a little disconnected for the typical innkeepers mission. The air conditioning in our room worked great as did everything in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable with every type of pillow I've ever seen available. We stayed here as a jumping off point to go to Versailles the next morning and then on to Paris after being in the south for a week. I wished we had time to see more of Maintenon as it was a nice town.

My brother has a residence 6 km from Maintenon and I was staying with him but he did not arrive until the next day so needed a place close by for a night. The staff was so nice and helpful, the public areas were very pleasant, the gardens lovely and peaceful. The kitty cat reminded me of home!! My only comment was that our room had so many little decorations on tables, shelves, etc. that it was hard to find a place to put personal belongings. The beds were very comfortable and inviting. Quiet sleeping, Just too much clutter in our room...charming but cluttered. We had a blue and yellow room.......Breakfast room adorable but again, too many "things" on the table to be comfortable. Breakfast was good. There was work being done on the B&B so workmen were around. But all in all....very nice. Photo on website is of room much more plain than ours!

First visit, very welcoming, rooms matched description on website. Good location and excellent restaurant recommendations.
