Spadaccini - Bed and Breakfast - Catania

Bed was 70cm high from floor. Breakfast just crackers or a muffin, coffee or tea. To get to the room there is a steeply 10 steps. Old fashioned lift which was more out of order than working.

Overprised

First of all it was not easy to find the hotel. Its ok ONLY in case you are going to stay in dobble room (which are nice and spacious)... but I stayed in a single room (no photos on web!!!) which is small, amlost on the roof, with a high bed like in a hospital! Kind of a conditioner could not cool the room. Great view from the room - wright on the dark inside stairs. The most I liked the window in a bathroom - it was without curtain exactly between the toilet and the window on the opposite building. For this price I could find much better hotel! The owner has to decrease the price at least 2 times! Kitchen is 10 times bigger then single room!

I chose this B&B primarily because there was a bus stop for the airport bus nearby, since I'd only planned to stay a night before catching a flight out. However, I brought forward my stay and was glad to stay an additional night. The presentation on this website is rather understated. Spadaccini is in a quiet area of town, very easy to find and I felt very safe in the area, even at night (very important for me as a solo female traveler). When I was shown my room, I was awed by the size and its gorgeous ceiling. Ditto that of the breakfast room. My only gripe was that the cleaners did not clean the assigned bathroom and there was some minor malfunction. Otherwise, the B&B had all the amenities I needed (including no cut-off time for breakfast since it's self-service). I loved the room which was bright and airy, and how quiet it was, the B&B's excellent proximity to major sites of interest, nearby cafe with good food, airport bus stop just outside, B&B's credit card facilities - I'd definitely return here and recommend it to friends and family. This place is more suited for an independent traveler - even then, Catania is easy to navigate on your own, especially if you know some basic Italian.
