Bed and Breakfast Kasteel ten Berghe - Bruges

I was very impressed with Kasteel ten Berghe both interior and surrounding grounds. I stayed with my partner to celebrate my 50th birthday and couldn't have been happier. Friendly and informative staff, beautiful room, very clean. If you want somewhere to stay that is a little different to the norm in a slightly out of the way place then this is for you. Close enough to town though if you want a bit of nightlife.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Castle and enjoyed our time there so much. Arriving from the train station it is either a bus-ride or short taxi to the property. Luke, the manager, is a real gem and very helpful. He even loaned us a couple of bikes to tool around the Flemish country-side at no extra cost (that was actually a high-light for us, the Flemish bike paths are first-rate and the scenary was so charming with old windmills, small towns and tree-lined canals). We ended up using the bikes to ride the short distance into Bruge as well although buses go every 30 minutes and get you there in 10 minutes. Rooms are large and clean, beds are comfortable. Breakfast was good and the breakfast room was amazing. There is free Wifi. If you like a "Disney-world" version of a castle, with everything new/sparkling and extremely modern this is not for you. But if you are looking for the real deal, with lots of character and want to see and experience something that is not on the mass-produced tourist circuit than Castle ten Berghe is highly recommended.

Kasteel ten Berghe could not be a greater value for the price. The room was extremely grand and the owners were very friendly. The entire hotel was an experience that we will not soon forget. Breakfast in the morning was extremely varied and the ultimate in relaxation. This was by far the best hotel out of the 12 places we stayed on our trip around Europe. We would very highly recommend to all who visit Brugge.

The atmosphere and the surroundings were fabulous at the Kasteel ten Berghe. But I do have a complaint. I booked 3 rooms for the one night and the room that my husband and I got had the fancy stand up shower in the ensuite bath which would have been wonderful had we been able to use it! I tried to have a shower in the morning but was unable to get any hot water and my husband had the same problem. Having an ice cold shower is not a very nice way to start your day. I went downstairs at that time but there was no one at the front desk or anywhere else that I could see. I understand that sometimes things go wrong but I was really disappointed when I told the staff member about the shower when I was paying the final bill, and all she would compensate us was by deducting about 5 euros from our beverage bill. I have to say that when you are paying 140 euros ($210 Canadian) per room per night (and I had booked 3 rooms!) I don't think 5 euro reduction was enough!

It's a great hotel with stunning surroundings and yummy breakfast, but I think the castle conditions should be improved.

This is a beautiful accomodation. Everyting about our stay was outstandin and I plan to return in the near future.

This place was just gorgeous, the whole experience of staying here was lovely. The bikes were a godsend and it was only a 10-15 min ride into the centre of Bruges. The breakfast was superb with soft boiled eggs and an excellent selection of breads, cheeses and meats. All of the staff were so friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this b&b and beautiful Bruges to anyone for a relaxing, stunning, sightseeing break.
