Bed and Breakfast Holiday Il Girasole - Bergamo

I stayed at Holiday Il Girasole for one night in November 2012 as a stop-over. The service was excellent, the rooms/bathrooms and public areas were very clean and well kept. I am returning in May for another night because I trust I will recieve the same outstanding service and attention.

We stayed at Holiday Il Girasole for three nights.It was a wonderful experience.Ivonne and Alfonso, the couple running the B&B were so welcoming, friendly and helpful that we felt definitely at home. The room was clean,spacious and quiet.The PC and the internet connection in the room was definitely a bonus.It was close to the main street,the train and bus stations and a pleasant walk to the fenicular to Citta Alta.We would love to go back there again and would absolutely recommend Il Girasole to anyone who wishes a simple,clean and friendly B&B atmosphere.

something "non sweet" for breakfast would be nice, even we are in Italy

Very friendly owner, make very good breakfast coffee, B&B near the station so u do not have to carry your bags very long :) The Owner can give you a lift to the air port what is very helpful, you just have to ask ( 2,5E per person)

very good location as regards the railway station and the city center, but not very well explained the access route from thr railway station. Rich breakfast, but the chees and/or ham and /or eggs missed. We were in Bergamo for the first time and we will surely return there, in B&B Il Girasole

The hotel was very nice, clean, quiet and very close to the center. The room had also free breakfast, which had a variety of fresh fruits, hot and cold drinks and many snacks. The staff was amazing, very helpful and friendly. The price and quality were both excellent, I definitely recommend 'Holiday Il Girasole' to anyone who wants to stay in Bergamo :)

Some confusion caused by describing this as an hotel - it is a B&B - the taxi driver didn't recognise an hotel called Il Girasole. However the welcome was excellent and our stay better than at some hotels.

Amazing owners. Will pick you up from the airport at a cost of €5. I had my own computer in my room and the showers are equiped with music.

Excellent service from Alfonso and Ivonne. Extremely helpful, many thanks. Location of Il Girasole is pleasant, convenient, quiet area. One can walk to railway station, shops, city centre and cable car station to Cita Alta. Great value for money that one cannot easily get elsewhere.

Short but very enjoyable stay at hotel. Alfonso and family who run the hotel were very helpful and friendly. Will stay there again and highly recommend it.

Very kind host, gives a lot of information even about the hours of the train. Parking available. Wifi available via pc in the room. Breakfast is good but I missed cheese and ham. Shared bathrooms are very clean and modern. Close to the trainstation so ideal for a visit to Milano. Very good price quality. Beds are to small, especially if you're a big guy.

I think This hotel has a very good relationship between price and quality.The staff is very kind.I´d come back again without a doubt!:D

We had a lovely stay at Holiday Il Girasole. We felt very welcomed, and the pick-up service from the airport was really helpful and useful as it made arriving much easier. The owners were friendly, and were willing to help with anything we asked. The location was handy when accessing the main street and the rooms were clean and cosy. Thank you for the watch!

Hosts are very welcoming. Hotel is very clean. Bed was very comfortable. Very good value for money. I have early flight at 7 a.m. but the breakfast ready and the shuttle service very nice at early time. Thanks largely to Alfonso and Ivonne.

Hotel was hard to find. Stayed 2 days. Room was not cleaned after first night. I had early morning flight to airport, but shuttle service was not offered. Instead, they ordered a taxi which never came (I luckily caught bus from city center). Bill did not include 7% Venere discount, I had to point this out. On positive side,owner is a fun character and I liked continuous access and vibe in breakfast room. And Bergamo is a nice friendly town with a pretty older district

Alfonso and Yvonne were wonderful. Excellent value and wonderful, personal kindnesses (like making a lasagne for us...). Thanks so much to both and highly recommend to anyone looking for the generous spirit of Italy...

The owners are very nice, helful,simpatic and careful people. The BB was placed a few steps from the center in the very quiet area. It was really a plaesure to stay there. I will choose it again in case of some accommodation needed in Bergamo.

I did not immagine that common facilities like toilets and bathrooms can be so clean like at home. Our room looked very fine with its mahogany parquet flooring. The Internet was very fast but some sites were blocked. The owners are very friendly and service oriented. The host picked us up and dropped us at the airport for a small fee. However, the breakfast was simple and we only discovered at night that our third bed had no sheets.

Thanks for the kindness of the host. They are very welcoming. The host called me before my arrival to check my arrival time. This would not happen for other hotel. They are so nice. Reply to my request as needed. The room is so spacious, has free wifi, even a computer at room for your free use. Flat LCD screen for TV, the hotel is so spotless clean. Breakfast is so generous, many options and caters only for you. Yes, you can ask for your breakfast time. They let me check out later and keep the luggage. They helped me to print out a file paper. Location is perfect. 5mins walk to Train station. If you are taking flight from Bergamo airport, do not miss this beautiful town and this fantastic hotel! Other reviews are true for the kindness of the host and great value of the hotel.

Everything was great! Our room and the bathroom were clean and spacious. The double bad was huge and very comfortable. Free Wi-Fi was OK. Very good localization. Owners: Alfonso and his wife are very kind and helpfull. We highly recommend this place :)

First we could not find the place, we go back to the train station and find the map in front of the station, after that we find the place so easy, but happy, the owner is very helpful, the place is clean.

I want to advise this B&B to everyone who wants to experience great holiday. Yvonne and Alfonso are great people and they try to help you with everything you want and need to have a wonderful stay.

Everything was OK, except the smell in the room I stayed. Also I didn’t like the electric room perfumers that they use.

The owner picked me up at the airport at night, the sleep was quiet (some street noise early in the morning because of repairs being done narby), the breakfast was suprisingly good. i would highly reccomend this hotel for short stays.

everything okay and an excellent service. First, when I indicated late arrival from and early start to airport we had a very nice e-mail exchange with the offer of shuttle service at a really superb rate. Then, when the plane was late more than half an hour and I could not reach anybody by mobile somebody waited for me nevertheless at the airport and picked me up. Last, I got a very good breakfast woth fresh coffee at half past 5 in the morning and the lift back to the airport. I was very pleased.

It was a very nice accomodation.

This is a great hotel - especially considering their airport shuttle service - Alfonso was waiting for us at the airport despite our late arrival (past 11:30 PM). The room was spacious and beautiful, they also offer free wireless internet. About 10 minutes walk from the railway station. Highly recomended.

Used the room for two with the private bathroom. Room was clean and very spacious. Services and facility in room were good. Alfonso and Yvonne provided great service, always helpful and trying, communicating with emails quickly and gave us great recommendations and help in touring Bergamo. The only thing that should be improved is the breakfast, which was kind of poor, but that is the case in most of Italy's B&B and Hotels. Overall though, great value for money here and I highly recommend the place.

The staff is really helpful. The place is very nice and well located (near the central station). In addition, they offer a service to take and bring people to the airport by a negligible value. In short, the location is perfect for those who need to stay in Bergamo because of the airport or to visit this beautiful city.

Alfonso (owner) - awesome guy, very friendly and welcoming! The room is clean and very cozy! Location is good - near the bus station and the old town not far to go! Impressions from the hotel and especially the Alphonso only positive!

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights. Alfonso and Iyonne were absolutely brilliant, I have stayed in many guest houses across the world but this was undoubtly the most welcoming. We were picked up at the airport, breakfast was ready when we requested it. Timetables for routes were printed etc etc the list goes on. Alfonso even ordered us in Pizza one night, you need to try the family pizza 10 euros, very big. The only downside which was not his fault was the inconsideration of some of the guests, they were noisey. And the Italians choose to do some road works at night. Would I go back absolutely.

Location in center of Bergamo (lower city part), next to railway and close to Bergamo airport. Expect no views. Clean and very spacious room. We opted for a room without private bathroom. Free Internet. Nice breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel feels like a well-maintained hostel.

Our brief one night stay at Il Girasole was perfect in every way. Thanks largely to Alfonso, the owner, who met us at the airport as planned and then whisked us off to the hostel. He offered us refreshments and then gave us a lift up to the old town. Couldn't have asked for a better welcome. After a delicious meal in town we wandered back and slept soundly in a very comfortable, spacious room. We had an early morning flight but Alfonso was there again to offer us an ample breakfast and then a lift back to the airport. Thanks for everything Alfonso! I'm sure we'll be back. Danny and girls.

What a wonderful low cost hotel,Alfonso and his charming wife could not have been more helpful and welcoming,I would recommend this hotel to any body who wants to visit Bergamo with easy access to the airport.

Owners of the hotel, Ivonne and Alfonso, are the most lovely, friendly and generous people I've ever met. EVER! Their hospitability is amazing, readiness to help in every possible situation simply outstanding. Alfonso was my private travel agent, he and Ivonne had invited me and one of the other guests for "la cena a casa" - pasta alla puttanesca (excellent!!) The hotel has great accessibility form both the train and the bus station.I will definitely come back for more!!!

Rooms large and clean. The owners are super friendly and attentive. Do not miss anything. If you need, you will collect or take you to the airport. Very, very recommended.

This hotel is a small hotel, well situated as regard the facilities of access to different places in the city. The street and surroundings are not really lovely but it's quiet. The rooms are big, with easy internet access.The couple in charge of the hotel is really welcoming, friendly and helpful and do their best to make one feel at ease. The only problem for "mature" people is that there are no toilets or water in the room. We stayed only one night and it was no real problem, all the more that there are few guests and the common bathroom is big and comfortable. But I think it's mostly a hotel for younger people, who can easily stay at 3 or 4 in a room.

Very very friendly staff. Great location, only a short walk to the old Bergamo and close to buss and railwaystation. clean, big rooms and bathrooms, free computeraccess. Can warmly be recommended.

I had to catch an early flight and booked a room in the hotel for one night. The staf was very very helpful and friendly. The single room was huge with tv, sofas, dining table and chairs, huge windows etc. Room was very clean, there was free wi fi in the room. Very good variety for breakfast for the low price of 30 euro per night and cheap hasle free transfer to the airport. By the way if you are single traveller and arrive at normal hours you can take the bus from airport and get of at central bus station is only 10 min walking to the hotel and cost 2 euro. I would definately go back again! There is Euro Braserie very close to the hotel where I had lovely dinner at very reasonable price. Thank you Alfonco and Ivonne!

Very close to the Railway Station (~5 mins on foot), people that run this B&B are THE MOST friendly and helpful owners I've met on my journeys! They helped me with everything, including an emergency situation and they did that for free & with great deal of smile. The B&B is clean, rooms are fresh and colorful, the free Internet is there & the owners are flexible with checkout/checkin/breakfast time. There's a supermercato & pasticeria very close. I would certainly recommend this place to everyone!

The B&B is very convenient to the train station and a short walk to City Alta. Alphonso and Ivonne were wonderful. Alphonso picked us up at the airport and took us back at 5am, after fixing our breakfast! The room was large and comfortable. We had a private bath which was large and well appointed. The absolutely best choice to stay overnight in Bergamo waiting for the morning flight. The client-oriented attitude of the owner is something special - excellent welcome late in the evening, good room, decent breakfast at 6 am in the morning, free transfer to the airport - all these makes this hotel so different from the rest.

Recently started-up B&B, the owner is kind, enthusiast and welcoming. Perhaps a bit too nosy and judgemental if you don't keep him at some distance. Anyway he is just a beginner in running the B&B and dealing with guests privacy, surely he will improve soon :) Contrary to what he says: Bergamo and its station is not risky and does not need curfew :)

Though I didn't stay for long because I had to catch a plane, they welcomed me warmly and took care of the shuttle to the airport and of my arrival.If I had to go back to Bergamo I would choose them again.

I have been coming to Italy several times/year, but Holiday il Girasole is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. The proprietors are warm, friendly, and helpful as possible. Spacious rooms and perhaps the biggest bathroom I have ever seen! I know it sounds like hyperbole to give an excellent rating to every point on the survey, but that is how I feel. An excellent experience overall.

The guest house is in a very convienient location, close to the train/bus station, but in the quiet street. The owner was extremely friendly, he cared for me like my father. He not only brought me in very early morning to airport shuttle with his car, but also brought me to his friends restaurant where I had a fantastic pizza with very reasonable price. Would I stay there again? Defenetly yes!

We stayed 1 night in triple room.Arrived very late, the hotel keeper was waiting for us at the street already and was very welcoming.The room was very clean and cisy, brekfast was tasty, especially homemade cakes.Good mini hotel in the centre of bergamo and just 5min to Bergamo airport

The man that runs this Hotel is wonderful! We arrived late at night around 11pm, he was waiting to let us in and give us a very warm welcome. We also had to leave for a flight early morning around 6am. He offered to wake us up in time for our flight, prepared us a feast for breakfast at 5:30am and ordered a taxi for us. We were very pleaased with our stay, the rooms are huge, facilitis are very new and very clean. I would stay here again!
