The hostess and her family are very warm and helpful. This is a great location for going to the Tapestry, Cathedrale or main shopping areas. The garden and breakfast room are a delight and take one back in time. The picture and street view do not do justice to the quality of the rooms and public areas. It was the best value of our trip.

I had a fantastic stay. Everyone I encountered at Aggarthi was friendly and very helpful. There was plenty to eat for breakfast (fruit, pastries, rolls, crepes, juice, tea/coffee), and the room was in excellent condition. It's in a great location, handy to the town, major roadways, and train station.

Miriam and her sons are extremely friendly and accommodating. She is a delightful character and loves giving as much local information as she can, in order for you to get as much out of the visit as possible. The location, although central, is quiet and private with a lovely walled garden for guest use. The kitchen facilities were unexpected and useful. Everyone is made to feel welcome here; we had a lovely time and will definitely stay here again when we next visit Bayeux.

Myriam met us at train station and was very hospitable. She acted as our tour guide giving us invaluable information on what to see in the beautiful Normandy region. Myriam's sons were also very accommodating and very helpful. I would recommend this accommodation to anyone who wishes to experience the warmth and culture of this region.

You can stay in one of the hotels and pay twice as much for your room, but Miriam will make you feel happy and welcome at her B & B for the half the price. The rooms are lovely, the garden is beautiful, and the location is excellent. We stayed there for two nights and would happily go back.

The hotel was located right in the city centre in a quiet street. The rooms were spacious and had a very nice traditional feel to it. The public areas were a bit neglected, but since we either were visiting Bayeux or in our rooms, I don't consider that much of an issue. The owner was a bit arrogant though, and often interfered too much with what we were planning to do. On the other hand, the information she gave about what to visit was quite complete and she was helpful in telling us what was worth visiting.

Very friendly host - sent lots of info on booking even though not requested. Lengthy book-in procedure as she was so enthusiastic and thorough so that we got the most out of our stay. Unable to find initially as we arrived on medieval festival weekend and there were people and cars everywhere but she kindly sent her son to find us at the tourist bureau and he directed us to B & B. Found parking for us until a park was available at B & B. Have many pets on property which we didn't mind but if you have an aversion to dogs probably not the best spot for you (but they are little and well behaved and don't jump up unless encouraged). Decor in rooms could probably do with an update and there are left over building materials in places Bathroom spotless and large shower which we found rare elsewhere. Overall definitely recommend this property especially if you want the B & B welcome!

Miriam and her sons were very friendly and helpful. I had an upstairs back room and it was the most quiet of any room I stayed in during my 21 days in Europe. I stayed here two non-consecutive nights because I liked it so much. Miriam can provide excellent guidance for travel and sights in the Bayeux area. I heartily recommend Aggarthi B&B as a place to stay.

Our stay at Aggarthi was a real joy.The rooms were clean and spacious, location was within easy walking distance of the Bayeux attractions and tour pickup points, but most of all the owner Miryam was a welcoming and helpful hostess. Her advice on restaurants and things to see was spot on and nothing was too much trouble for her and her delightful family. Providing you don't mind a few well behved pets wandering around, we recommend cAgarthi to anyone travelling to the Bayeux area

Best service and accomadation with in Europe! I felt like I was staying in a home away from home. Home made crepes in the morning. A very welcoming B & B. Miriam, the owner, did all she could to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. Her knowledge of the area and in particular the Normandy beaches was second to none. A very friendly welcome, giving good details about what is available in town. The location is only 100m or so from the Bayeaux Tapestry, and not much more to the centre of town. Nothing in town is more than a 15-20 minute walk away, and most much closer. The rooms are a little small especially for taller people, and angled as they are a loft, but are adequate unless you intend to spend hours in the room. Having arrived from the UK and Ireland where breakfasts are huge, this was a little small, being a Croissant and drink, but this just allows a choice of patisserie to indulge. Whilst the map showed you where the place was, narrow, blocked or one way streets made it a little difficult to get to - but far from impossible. Location has it all for this place, I would definitely return.

We found Myriam, family and menagerie of pets to be delightful. Our hostess was a font of information about the area. We found our 3 night stay a minimum to take full advantage of both the more recent (WW2) and ancient (tapestry) history of Bayeux Shared between 3 rooms is a cute country style kitchen (including 2 stovetops and fridge). The attic rooms have sloped ceilings. It should be noted we were upgraded to a larger attic room during our stay. Her friendly dogs, rabbits and piu-piu the pet chicken added to the enjoyment of our visit

Very cousy and friendly place. The owner of this B&B, a very sweet and gentle maddam named Myrian, makes sure to personally welcome you explaining all about the places to go around this region of Normandy, suggesting all kinds of intinerary options, places to eat and to see. We've followed her word to the very last detail and had a great time. Fresh bread is provided right out of the next door bakery on breakfeast. Well located. Simple but well kept room.

We recently stayed at this bed and breakfast for three nights. The proprietor could not have been sweeter or more accommodating! She gave us TONS of specific information about what to see and where to eat in the area. The building is very old and quaint and very well maintained and the outdoor garden area is lovely. The B and B is less than three blocks from a giant church that was built in 1170 (!!!) and two blocks from the must-see tapestry museum. Many restaurants, bars and shops within very easy waling distance. I highly recommend staying here.

After reserving a room for three nights, with a guaranteed late arrival, we got in about 10 pm. Despite the claim of air conditioning, there was none. I took a shower, but failed to realize that the past several guests had left a bunch of hair in the drain, Soon the shower stall overflowed (we had been traveling from Berlin all day) and the bathroom became flooded. We called the staff and the hair was removed and the water cleaned up. Then the woman who owned the place showed up and went wild. Called us crazy for allowing that to happen. She demanded full payment in cash for three nights, E240, even though we had reserved the room on American Express (I rarely carry that much cash with me but did have it). I told her we would only stay two nights, but she wanted three nights in advance, "or we could get our luggage and get out." It was then close to midnight. Her staff had also quoted us a price of 11 euros to wash some clothing and gave us a laundry bag. We filled it, and the next morning the woman demanded 33 euros for the laundry, "as it was a big bag." This was her response to showing her the email she wrote us quoting a price of 75 euros a night, rather than the 80 euros she demanded now. All in all it was a miserable experience, and when on the road, in a foreign country, our options are limited. We paid the extra money, left early and will never return.

Miriam was an excellent and entertaining hostess, and we highly recommend this bed & breakfast! Bayeux is a wonderful community with tremendous history and architecture, close to the Beaches of Normandy (Omaha) and the American Military Cemetary. Great restaurants within walking distance, as is the main train station. I give this one five stars!

Te bed was horrible. The breakfast setup is a little uncomfortable. We sat in the innkeepers dining room with other guests while the innkeeper watched TV. The breakfast was bread and coffee. But the price was right and the location was convenient. And the innkeeper has great dogs.

She explained in full the faclities and arrangements for breakfast and access to the kitchen was open to all guests. We met like minded travellers mainly from USA and UK, also some D-day veterans.

After the booking was made I sent an email asking for the booked double room to have single beds.I agreed to pay the extra money. The email wasn't returned so I presumed all was well.On arrival we were given a double room each for the 1st night and told we would be moved next day.The room we were moved to was not up to standard. It was very cold with a stone floor and no rugs.It was very dark and dreary. The centre light fitting was hanging off the ceiling. One of the bedside lights didn't work. There was dog mess on the patio area we had to walk across to get to the tiny breakfast room.Breakfast was adequate but only one cup of coffee was given. We had to pay for the accommodation as soon as we had arrived. We read such great reviews of the place that although we thought it expensive at 75 Euros we decided that it would be worth it. We were very disappointed. We expected much more. However, Bayeux did not disappoint.A lovely peaceful city full of charm. We saw plenty of it as our room was so uninviting that we did not feel like spending more time than necessary in it.

This is a well priced, conveniently located B&B just a few blocks stroll from all the major sites of Bayeux. The host starts by giving you a map and highlighting how to gt to the sites, the roads to the Beaches and a few good restuarants in town. Breakfast is served outside in the sun (weather permitting). It was a wonderful start to each of the three days we stayed here. The grounds come complete with friendly dogs, cats and even a rabbit or two. The building is still a work in progress but all the key essential were there and worked well. I think this adds to its charm. We look forward to returning on a future visit to the area.

We stayed at the Aggarthi B&B for 4 days -- at first we didn't quite know what to expect behind that closed white door, but when it opened, there was Miriam, friendly and helpful as can be -- truly a sweetheart. The room was in the "new wing" and wasn't completely finished (no table or TV) but it was big, the beds were comfy, the bathroom had a brand new shower and Miriam made sure there were clean linens every day. One of the best parts was that she allowed guests to use the fridge and appliances in the breakfast room to store stuff and make tea or coffee at their leisure. When we got tired of paying 5 euros each for a single cup of hot tea in the cafes, the kettle and fridge were most welcome. Miriam herself was so helpful -- she had suggestions and gave valuable info about getting to and from places. I considered her a friend when we left! The other thing is that the B&B is only one block from the famous Bayeux Tapestry, a few block walk to the ancient cathedral and a 20 minute drive to the Normandy D-Day beaches.

Chose this B+B having read several complimentary reviews regarding this property. The location is excellent right in the centre of Bayeux, close to train station, Bayeux Tapestry museum,Cathedral and many good restaurants. Madame Myriam was most helpful re D Day Tours, walks, sightseeing, restaurants etc. Our room was in the attic, spacious, bright and airy with a good sized en-suite. Our hostess was very welcoming and friendly. We loved her 3 dogs and the location was perfect for seeing the town and close to the Tapestry. She is very good at offering suggestions for places to go and restaurants. The room upstairs was cute, but because of the angles of the ceiling would be difficult for someone who is tall. Also, if you like to sleep late it is not quiet when the other guests are having breakfast. It is perfect for a one or two night stay, and a good value. She served the best fresh croisants for breakfast, but my main complaint was that if she has a full house there is not enough room for everyone to sit at the table. Our 2nd morning there we were rushed out by our hostess so that others could sit.

Having just spent 4 nights in Paris, it was a wonderful change to stay in a B&B with this level of service. Mme Miriam was fabulous hostess, and the rooms were quite large (for French standards) and very new. Mme Miriam, took the time to present several restaurants & menus to us (including telling us which ones were closed that evening). Breakfast was the traditional croissants and coffee served at the time of our choosing. Knowing we only had one day to tour the sights (and I hadn't done all my homework), Mme Miriam laid out a wonderful tour of the Normandy Invasion Museums and sights! We followed her suggestions, and they were excellent! Overall our stay was wonderful, and the service EXCELLENT!

I booked a double and was given an attic-style room with severely slopped cielings. It felt somewhat claustrophobic however it was clean and the bathroom was big enough. The owner is very knowledgable and told us where to eat, where to find ATMs, etc. She was more than willing to help in any way she could. Also a complete breakfast was included with the room which was great. It's a very small bed and breakfast but it's perfect if you're in town for a few days visiting Normandy Beach.

When my husband was not able to travel with me, I contacted my sister, who was able to take his place. So this report is written by Jeanne Quinn. We had the most wonderful experience at the Aggarthi B&B! It could not have been better. I'm almost afraid to tell others of this amazing gem in Bayeux for fear that we will not be able to get a room next year when I hope to return with my husband. The owner is the perfect hostess. When she recommends a restaurant, be sure to listen. You will not be disappointed. She will map out places of interest and privide excellent directions. The location of the B&B allows you to walk to all the sights in Bayeux. Two blocks away is the famous Bayeux tapestry, yet the B&B is so secluded behind an ancient wooden gate with a quiet courtyard and garden that you would never know that are are right in the center of the town. Also, you are just a few miles from the Normandy landing beaches and other Normandy sights. Another plus is that the train station for a two-hour trip to Paris is within walking distance (seniors, be sure to get the senior train rate). My sister and I dropped our car off at Hertz in Bayeux on the last day and took the train to Paris for the rest of our French trip. As for the accommadations at Aggarthi, the room and bath were bigger than expected and very clean and nicely furnished. Even the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was the usual French bread, croissant, orange juice, and coffee; but, the homemade jam from the owner's pear & plum trees was out of this world. I only wish we could have brought some home. If I figure out how to send pictures , I will do so. I loved this place.

Our stay with Madame Aggarthi was lovely. Located in the centre of town, behind imposing wooden gates, we weren't sure we had the right place when we arrived. But then Mdm Aggarthi opened the large gates with a friendly smile and ushered us into a beautiful country cottage courtyard. It's like Narnia. We were shown to our compact but well laid-out room (with en suite). The rooms are in a separate block to Madame Aggarthi's residence, so you don't feel as though you are intruding. It's easy to relax. Our host took her time talking to us, judging our level of French (which she had obviously realised we wanted to practice) and talking at the appropriate speed (she dipped into English when necessary). She recommended restaurants (you'd do well to take her advice) and offered to help plan our stay. All in all, it was ace.

Once we got her attention, Mme Aggarthi was wonderfully helpful and welcoming. The first morning she had taken the day off and her daughter just put out the food. The second morning, Mme Aggarthi mistook a French couple's golf bags for ours and therefore offered none of the conversation or planning help this B&B is famous for. By the second afternoon, we had communicated and got all the friendly, detailed advice we'd missed and more, including a fantastic restaurant reservation, so our hint: Don't be shy; explain what you want. Moreover, they're originally from Paris, and we followed her generously detailed explanation of things to do around our rental apartment there, too. We'd go back to Aggarthi in a minute! By the way, directions on Venere are sketchy and we spent 45 minutes finding the B&B the first time!

We stayed only one night at B&B Aggarthi, and I'm sorry that we couldn't stay longer. The owner--I believe her name is Miriam--was so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The breakfast included excellent coffee, juice, bread, pastries, and homemade jam. Our room and bathroom were spotless and tastefully decorated. Parking was free, inside the gated yard. The guest rooms are in a separate building from the main house. There's a small kitchen on the first floor of this building where breakfast is served. I believe that one of the guest rooms opens directly into this kitchen, so be warned that you may be awakened by other guests if you like to sleep late. Everything was otherwise perfect and an excellent value.

Christian and Myriam were absolutely delightful and made our stay very warm and comfortable. Christian went above and beyond by taking us to get our rental car and making sure everything was in order with it. Myriam spent time to map out our trip to Normandy beaches and gave us good advice.

Very nice people. Very well placed hotel, at 5mn walk from the famous tapestry, in the center of Bayeux. We recommend this 'Bed and Breakfast'. The room we had was small, we were told it's the smallest one. The window was opening on the street so it was a bit noisy. There was no room to park our car inside, I think we can hardly park 2 cars there ; there were works in the main house and the parking place was occupied by the workers. We could find parking place in the street.

Aggarthi is a wonderful place to stay...close enough to being in the middle of things and just distant enough to be away from noise. Room was absolutely delightful; breakfast offerings were delicious and help with sightseeing very knowledgeable. Would return in a heartbeat!

The B&B is very close to all of the Bayeux sights - just one crossroad away. The family which runs it is very nice and always offers good advice and good services. We've enjoyed our stay there a lot and also got to hear some stories about the Normandie and some calvados to taste! Lovely.

Wonderful place to stay, you'd never guess that this is hidden away behind a door in central Bayeux... this was definitely the highlight of our week's stay in France. Lovely family, really friendly, very welcoming, beautiful breakfast in the garden the next morning - we'll definitely go back next time we're there.

We stayed in Bayeux for 2 nights and found the location of the Aggarthi perfect with just a short walk into town. It is easy access to the train station and close to the famous Tapestry and Cathedral. The owners are very obliging and helpful. There are three rooms, one downstairs and two upstairs with a shared kitchen downstairs and this could have the potential to be noisey for the downstairs room however we did not have any problems. We enjoyed the stay and would go back.

This B & B is conveniently located to the Tapestry at Bayeux and not far from the Normandy beaches in a lovely town. Owners had lots of info available for touring the area. The rooms themselves were very clean and comfortable and with good weather we were able to have breakfast in the garden with other guests. I would definitely recommend this B & B.

A great place to stay. Does not have many rooms, but the rooms are updated and clean. Very secure with private parking off the street. Myriam, the owner and her family were outstanding. Her welcoming attitude and advice on the sites made our stay. Within walking distance of the tapestry and cathedral. Within 15 min. of D-day beaches. Included breakfast simple but good.

We were very pleased with the accomodation and it was our favourite place while we were in France. The standard of everything was high and the family made us very welcome and made efforts to speak english while we tried to respond in French.

This is a great property, just at the edge of Bayeux near the Bayeux Tapestry and the Cathedral. Myriam the owner is fantastic, very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is pretty basic but nice. Would recommend this B&B to anyone going to Bayeux.
