Bed and Breakfast Casa La Luz - Basel

Room very nice and clean, owner gentle, disposable and welcoming. Breakfast rich and good. I think it's a great solution if you want to go in Basel cause B&B is near to the centre and good served by tram. B&B give the chance to have a card to take free tram for all the period of the journey

Altogether Casa La Luz is a nice place to stay in for a short stay in Basel. Public transportation is very convenient just two blocks away, and the place is clean and quiet. Excellent wireless connection too. Breakfast is included and decent enough. However rooms are a bit small, and as I learned the hard way, you should check in advance regarding the bathroom. While I had a private bathroom, it was down the hall outside the room which was somewhat awkward. Altogether a pleasant recommended stay.

The stay is only worth half of the price I paid.

Landlady (Kirstin) was very helpful and speaks several languages including English. Location is within walking distance of the centre of Basel (20 minutes) or alternatively a tram stop is 5 minutes walk away. Room was cleaned daily and being off the main road, the stay was quiet. Definately good value for money for guests staying a few days on holiday or as a Business traveller.

Stay away! You may find no one at the door when you arrive, a german language message on the phone, a landlady operating out of a shabby unkempt basement who will make no apology for not being there to receive guests, and who takes you to another location, not Casa la Luz. the alternate location was fine, but it was a particular's apartment and you really feel like an intruder. Basel is great, would go back, but not to Casa la Luz

We need window curtains to keep away from the sunlight and we can sleep better in the morning.

An excellent little place. Very clean, better standard of room than expected. Generous self service breakfast included in price and use of kitchen facilities. Rooms were not air-con though which made for some sticky nights sleep. A little out of Basel centre but right next to a tram stop that takes you in to the centre (No. 1) in 10 mins. Very convenient for airport as well as the No. 50 bus that goes from airport to town also stops very close. The free mobility pass that you get wherever you stay in Basel is an excellent idea which allows free transport on all trams and most buses. The trams are frequent and punctual and a great way to se the city if the weather is a little off. If the weather is hot make sure you do down to the Rhine and watch people of all ages jump in and be carried down river by the current. Many people have wet bags that they put their belongings in and then use as a float. If you want to have a go yourself and see one of these orange bags buy one as we spent a whole afternoon looking for somewhere that sold them! Basel is a really surprising place, loads of museums (probably too many) but the art galleries are good. Definitely worth a couple of days exploring. It's a very vegetarian friendly place too.

Excellent lodging! Spacious comfortable room, well furnished. Great amenities, full access to kitchen for meal preparation - they provide spices and basics and there is a grocery store very close by. Quiet stay in a great neighbourhood! Easy Tram ride from the airport and very short walk from the Tram to the Bed & Breakfast. Several different Tram lines stop at the same corner making it easy to get around town. Also, Basel transit passes for each person are included with the room making it cheap for getting around. Great staff! Very helpful before and during the stay providing anything I needed including payment information, maps to the location and maps of the area, tourist information, extra towels, Internet access (free). The city of Basel is also great to visit. Lots of nice sites to see and a very pleasant town. We also took a day trip to Zuirch where we had booked a tour into the alps. Train service to Zurich was affordable and easy to navigate. Overall a great stay. I will be returning to this location for sure and recommending it to others. Thank you to the owners for such a pleasant first visit to Switzerland, a definite positive impression!
