Ally's Guest House Barcelona - Barcelona

The Guest House is excellent. Our room was clean and friendly, but it was noisy. The breakfast was abundant. The shared bathroom was no problem.

This was our first trip to Barcelona and, after initially having some difficulty in identifying the building late at night in which the B & B is housed,we found it to be very accessible to public transportation,La Sagrada Familia, Casa Mila, etc. Graciella was a wonderful host, greeting us and being so helpful with information, and finally escorting us out to hail a taxi as we departed. Our room had a beautiful view over the 4 corners and beyond; buffet breakfasts,although lacking some variety, were very adequate and nutritious, and sharing bathroom was not a problem. All in all, Alley's is well worth the price, and we would have no hesitation in recommending it to future travelers.

Ally's guest house has one group of rooms on the first floor and another group on the 5th floor. There is no sign outside the building. So, pressing the right button to come in is the problem. Other than that, we had a wonderful time in this place. The hostess is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean. Even though, the location is not right in downtown, but with a subway 5 min. away, it is quite convenient. We stayed in this place for 6 days. We got bored at the same breakfast served after a few days. But then, not many people will stay that long. Overall, I loved the place and would definitely go back for my next visit.

Everything in our trip in Barcelona is perfect except this guest house. I can't understand how can it get such high scores, and I don't think it deserve it. The breakfast offered there is not good, few choices and under-average quality. Our room is small and has no window. Maybe 75 one night for a double bedroom is very cheap in Barcelona, but does it mean I have to be urged when taking a bath in a shared bathroom when there is no one waiting for using it after me? Anyway, I will not recogmend it to anybody and I will never go back to it. I don't feel like a warm-welcomed guest in that GUEST house at all! By the way, there is another guest house in the same building on the 5th floor owned by an elder lady, and she is very kind.

Very personal service....Ally sent email with specific directions as to how to get to her guest house. Directions included public transportation, cab and cost of. Upon arrival we were greeted and were provided with local information, a map, and little tidbits of information. Although no private bathroom facilities, this was never an issue as there were 2 bathrooms available and we never had an issue with having a bathroom available when needed. Breakfast was basic, although with a good variety including fruit, cold cuts and bread. Would definitely stay there again. Major sight seeing attractions were easily accesable by either walking or using a very user friendly metro. Safe area. We walked after dinner throughout the neighborhood not once feeling at unease. Reviews we read prior to booking were accurate and there were no unpleasant surprises. Truly enjoyed our stay.
