De Baronie B&B - Amsterdam

This lovely old canal house is about a 15 minute very easy walk from the Centraal train station. perfect location.

Quite an experience in this old (1672) canal house, which is beautiful and beautifully furnished. Rooms quite attractive and clean. However, wish I had been warned about the steep, spiral staircase with the very narrow stairs...authentic, yes, but very difficult when one of us has problems with stairs of any type. Impossible to deal with your own luggage on the stairs, and the host brought ours up for us; but after promising to help on the day we left to get them down for us, did not show up to help. Fortunately, the cab driver helped. Loved the adorable sheep dog, Beethoven, who is very well behaved. I think the breakfast should be included in the price of the B and B, since that is implied in the name "B&B..." It costs 10 euros and is very nice. Because of the stairs, would not stay here again.

It is a beautiful old house which also makes it very noisy. As soon as someone gets up you can hear them as if they were standing in your bedroom. We were meant to get breakfast on the Saturday morning but no one showed up at all so we had to eat outside. Breakfast on the Sunday was lovely however yet slightly overpriced at €10 a head. We shared a bathroom with another room and no one cleaned through it during the day so it was rather disgusting after the second night because our neighbours weren't very clean. The location was good as it was close to the Centraal Station and an arrival after 23:00 was not a problem at all either.
