My wife and I already miss our stay at B&B Amsterdam, and we have only been gone for just a day! Paul and Karen are very welcoming and helpful into their home. A very clean and well appointed room. Our room included an en suite shower, kitchen and even a laundry machine. Pleasantly surprised! A couple of helpful tourist points: There's a touch of party atmosphere during the coming New Year with fireworks across the city during all hours, beware! Also, when you leave using the opposite directions provided by the B&B back to the airport. Take at least Euro 2,80 in COINS for each person to purchase a train ticket after you get off of the tram. The train station does not have provisions otherwise. No cash machines, cash to coin exchange or visa card acceptance. Other than that, we would highly recommend to family and friends to meet Paul and Karen and stay at their B&B. They are the nicest people!

This was a great B&B - welcoming, clean and quiet with nice touches like the blackcurrent jenevere, jars of sweets and chocolates on the bed to wecome us bacj each evening. Paul gave us good local eating recommendations. We also liked De Doffer 'brown cafe' and Cafe Schiller in town. The Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museums were wonderful and the 'Church in the Attic' museum was a real find. View the waterfront from the Eye film museum's amazing cafe terrace.

Excellent welcome at the Bed & Breakfast Amsterdam. Comfortable, and convenient. No public common area except breakfast / coffee area, but room had access to the garden courtard. Reservation requests telephone contact on arrival. Discovered that finding a coin telephone in Amsterdam anywhere near the Central Station is VERY difficult - either non existent or not functional. Eventually made notification via an internet cafe. Unfortunately one memory of Amsterdam will be the very poor state of public telephones ... travellers arriving from overseas may well not have unlocked cell phones, and finding a store that sold cards for card type pay phones was also difficult. Also surprised by the inability to purchase train tickets to the airport with cash at the Lelyln Train Station - would not accept VISA nor bank card. Had to travel to Central Station to purchase a ticket - who sold ticket at a premium for having to meet an agent - without informing us that there would be no trains operating on the day for which we bought the ticket (the next day). Arriving at station there was no information displayed that trains to airport were not running, and only other travellers checking on their iPhones were able to give us instruction. Fortunately we had left very early and werea ble to make the necesary adjustment - travelling by Metro and Bus to the airport, even though we had a train ticket that was not used! Low points for railroad - not tourist friendly!

A very conveniently located b and b. The host, Paul is very welcoming and once he has explained the layout of the b and b keeps a respectful distance but is always contactable via a mobile phone which he provided in the lobby. Room was beautifully clean and quiet and the bed very comfortable. The air conditioning unit was a welcome addition and the owner thoughtfully put it on for us during the day when the weather was particularly warm so the room was lovely and cool for our return. Good range of breakfast cereal and tea, coffee (both real and instant), hot chocolate, herb teas, biscuits and a fridge for your own use. Overall, would have no hesitation for recommending this B and B.

This is a great location close to Vondelpark. We loved the sense of privacy (Paul gave us loads of information on the first day and off we went)and having access to a kitchen and garden when we liked - home from home.

Had an excellent stay with credit due to the owner Paul, who provided a detailed orientation to the lodging and the neighborhood. Our flight to Schiphol was delayed by about 9 hours so we arrived very late. When we finally arrived at the B&B, Paul was enthusiastic and a great host even though it was quite late in the evening. The next morning he spent quite a bit of time with us describing area activities.

the room was very good the breakfast was so lala, self service , milk, coffee / tea and biscuites if other things wanted we had to buy it in the supermarket and prepare it. There was not possibility to heat milk or boil an egg. the steps do not allow handicaped people to stay in the rooms upstairs.

A lovely place to stay in a quiet location. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and very very clean. The owner Paul was very helpful and provided us with a map of Amsterdam and also a detailed map showing local facilities and recommended restaurants. Everything was to a very high standard and each day we were provided with free chocolates and delicious balckcurrant gin. My idea of heaven!

I had an amazing room overlooking a working canal. The B&B was located on a quiet street and I appreciated the quietness after being in the midst of the busyness of the city center. As one other person mentioned, you will need to get used to taking the trams since it's about a 10-15 minute ride to the major spots. I like their tram system. The Wi-Fi worked for me the entire length of my stay. Paul was most helpful(I did not get to meet Karen this time) and he had maps in the room that were very helpful. I loved the list of recommended places to eat as well as transportation resources. Paul and Karen understand what information a visitor to their city needs in making their trip a success. I was a solo traveler and this place was perfect for me. I could also see this being a great place for couples.

What could be a lovely place for a great price becomes a standard place with "minimal" service/facilities when the prices are going up. Requirement to pay cash at arrival, limited wifi coverage, no shoes policy, limited housekeeper presence (only at arrival), no breakfast (only milk and flakes),acrobatic stairs to reach the 2nd floor and a location which is still not so close to downtown city, let us a strange feeling.

This is a great place to stay. I stayed for 8 days and am a single middle age female traveling alone so location and safety as well as quality are highly important to me. Paul was welcoming and spent time on my arrival explaining the city trams and transportation and I was easily able to get around the city to both my meetings and to the sights that I wanted to see. The room is spotless and cleaned daily. The experience in a regular neighborhood was better than a hotel. It is near a major street with lots of restraunts and a grocery store. The breakfast is cereal and milk but my room had a small kitchen and I bought fruit (very cheap not tourist prices) at the store and had a nice breakfast everyday. It is also beautiful on a canal with boats cruising by. I would go back here and recommend staying here as my experience was very good.

I was struck by the cleanliness and comfort of my room. It was like a studio apartment, really, with a kitchen stocked with utensils, plates, bowls, cooking equipment, and breakfast cereals and milk. A refrigerator was provided so it was possible to prepare meals in the room, if preferred. This B&B was located quite a distance from the town center and learning the trams, I would say, is mandatory to stay at B&B Amsterdam, as walking regularly to and from the main areas of the city could be arduous (especially in the rain). However, the location of this B&B does encourage walking at least a few times through beautiful Vondelpark (watch out for the bicyclists and check-out the all-in-one-bicycle-carriages for the children). One or two negatives about B&B Amsterdam: I was left without towels for the first 3 days - housekeeping I guess just forgot to leave bathroom linens which made for a chilly, drip-dry experience; there were quite a few steps to the landing for my room and it was not lit so coming home after dark was quite precarious, and shoes are not allowed in the rooms which is a nice rule, I think, but there is really no place to sit outside the door and take off difficult footwear like boots - a chair would have been nice. All-in-all, it was a lovely place to stay and I wouldn't mind returning and perhaps renting a bicycle to shorten my journey into the city area.

All was as I expected and we were not disappointed! Paul was friendly and very informative. Breakfast was serve-yourself from the hallways in the first and top floors. It consisted of a selection of cereals plus milk,Dutch cookies, teas, cocoa (yum!) and instant coffee. Each room was given a shelf in the small fridge. Candies by the shoe rack in the hall and on the bed at night. Nice touches, including fresh flowers by the bed and a special liqueur on the tables. The "kitchens" also held travel books and information. Water was fine to drink. Windows in the rooms could be opened at night for fresh air. Hair dryers provided. Would have liked an inroom safe, though. Short walks to various restaurants. Went to Mr. Mix twice and thoroughly enjoyed the cuisine, a mixture of foods. Loved being so close to Vondelpark and the bike rental was at the other end of the park. We walked or biked to many of the major sightseeing venues.Very safe area. We would definitely stay there again. Just a note, the stairs to the top floor are very, very steep and narrow so if you have heart or physical problems, opt for a lower room.

We stayed 4 nights in the canalside room which was faultlessly clean and very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was basic but this wasn't too much of a problem for us. Lots of really nice thoughtful touches (including generous amounts of blackcurrant gin (bessenjenever)..I am definitely a convert!! The B&B itself is an easy tram ride from the main sights of Amsterdam, (or close to Vondel Park if you fancy a nice leisurely stroll)and is easy to get to from Schiphol airport (especially with the excellent instructions Paul provided). The great thing for us was that, even though there are plenty of local bars and restaurants nearby, it was nice and quiet at night. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone who wants a real home from home in Amsterdam.

Nice, clean, spacy bed & breakfast. The owner gave us a nice introduction to the area as we arrived, which contributed greatly to our stay (and led to far less que-standing than otherwise!). Great hospitality of the owners! The room/apartment was nice with a great view over the canal. The possible only downside is distance to town, after the last tram there is approximately 45 minutes to go to the city centre.

This is a great place in a great location. The owners were attentive and efficient. Before the trip we indicated some special needs, which were taken care of completely. The room we had was not fancy, but very roomy and quite adequate. The neighborhood was a very nice mix of residential and nearby commercial including some really great restaurants. Transportation was convenient and reasonably priced (get the multi-day passes). We plan to use this as our base of operation for future trips to Amsterdam.

My husband and I traveled to Amsterdam on holiday and stayed at B&B Amsterdam for 5 nights. The price for the value was excellent. We had the canal side room which was very clean, spacious and comfortable. The owner Paul greeted us early in the morning upon arrival and gave us a sheet that recommended nearby restaurants, told us where the ATM and tram stops were as well as how to buy the confusing tram tickets. My only negative comments would be that if you are a light sleeper you may want to get a back garden room as there is a cute restaurant bar right next door that is open late so we were woken up by partying patrons a few nights. The walk to the museums is about 20 minutes and the walk to the tram is about 10 minutes to get to City Center. We tried almost all of Paul's restaurant suggestions and they were excellent and a short 5-10 minute walk from the B&B. If you don't mind not being in City Center at night this is an awesome place to stay. The price was more than $100 US less than the 2-3 star hotels closer in.

One of the most outstanding B&Bs in which my girlfriend and I have stayed, US or EU. Clean-clean-clean, wonderful bed, air conditioned, great location, convenient to transportation and a very nice "Central Park" quality park. We had the top-floor suite, and it blew us away. We stocked up at the local supermarket, and enjoyed our own sumptuous breakfasts and wine-cheese-baguette appetizers before heading out to dinner. Right on a canal with a friendly large gray heron who greeted us as we left each morning, sort of like a neighborhood pet. Coming back from a day at the Rikjsmuseum and perusing the canals to this was pure pleasure.

This property is beautiful we stayed on the first floor. It's really an apartment, not a UK style B&B. I could have spent the rest of my life living there, quite happily. The canal view from the balcony is wonderful, and when barges pass it's quite amazing - some are as long as a football field. Location wise, it's easy to find if you follow Paul's directions. (The owner) When going out, it's a lovely walk through the park to the downtown area. Paul's tips and advice are great. Read carefully the comment that the Joffer's breakfast is enough for two - my wife and I made enough sandwiches with our leftovers to last us the whole day. Venere rate this property around 9.1 - it's very easy to see how it got that rating, and it even deserves to be higher. Thanks Paul, we loved your apartment.

At first, I was reluctant to book this B&B because it seemed a little pricey and out of the way. However, I am very glad I did. The owner is a very nice person who was extremely helpful. Essendo un Bed & BREAKFAST ci si potrebbe aspettare qualcosa di più di colazione (come brioches, yogurt, caffè non solo solubile...), comunque è interessante e comoda la disponibilità della cucina e la totale libertà di orari. Pulizia ottima, ambienti accoglienti, gentilezza e cortesia! Da consigliare agli amici e da ritornarci... (speriamo!) To be a Bed & BREAKFAST you could expect something more for breakfast (like brioches, yogurt, coffe not only soluble...), however it is very interesting and comfortable the kitchen availability and the totally time independence. Excelent cleanliness, cozy rooms, kindness and niceness! To suggest to your friends and to return... we hope...

In 30 minuti ti spiegano tutto. molto pulito.

Nice alternative to standard hotels, which are often devoid of human touch. As for Amsterdam standards, the price is reasonable.

A lovely place! Owners Paul and Karen are welcoming and then not intrusive. We (my husband and myself) stayed in three different rooms as we decided to extend our stay for the full week. One room was ground floor and spacious, the second a suite with private bath and kitchen and the third well...for the price just fine and cozy. It WAS 61 steps on the top floor! The view from the deck on top was lovely, but a scary height without railings. NO KIDS. Pack light. Near stores, easy access via cab to airport for about 25 euros, restaurants next door and the tram very close to take you all about town.

Very clean, excellent location. Owner welcomed us and provided a very detailed explanation of the rooms, services and surroundings. Very nice touches like chocolates on pillow, cell phone available for calls to the owner and taxi, list of services in the area, etc. I would definitely stay here again with my family.

Amsterdam is a very charming and comfortable B&B. The room we stayed in (garden view) was HUGE and well appointed. The hosts were very friendly and accomodating. A bit outside the city center, the neighborhood surrounding the B&B offered lots to explore and many good restaurtants. Highly recommended!
