B&B 1657 - Amsterdam

We had a great stay at B&B 1657. The owners were more then accommodating, room was comfortable and clean and the breakfast was incredible. Great location on the canal and walking distance to several museums and other attractions. It will be our first choice lodging on a return trip to Amsterdam.

I am really torn about this place. The guys running it - 3 brothers - could not have been nicer, more charming or more helpful. They were just lovely, warm welcoming people. The location is great too. On the flip side, it got very noisy at night with local revelers. And with the numerous levels and shared bath, the value is not the greatest (though I understand they are in the process of adding en suite baths to each room). My biggest complaint however, is that the place is just not well run. It seemed as if no one was in charge and other than during breakfast, rarely was anyone there to maintain the place or field the occasional question. With better management, I am sure the place could be a real gem. And we stayed for 5 nights. The drawbacks became frustrating only over time, so if you are just staying for one or maybe two nights, I could see it being a really pleasant experience.

Very nice b&b in a charming house in centrum. The breakfast was really nice and the hoasters very kindly and serviceoriented.

Lovely tiny B&B on one of Amsterdam´s main grachts. Run by two broters, who do a hell of a job to make you feel home. Breakfast is great with fresh orange juice, eggs made to order and fresh salmon. Very nice. Location is not to beat. Water view incl. Rooms nicely furnished with flat screen cable TV. Thumbs up!
