B&B Kerkent - Agrigento

There’s only one thing I regret about our stay at B&B Kerkent of Agrigento: it was too short. From our base in Palermo, we took the train to Agrigento, planning to stay there overnight. We had a reservation but still decided to check with our host before our departure. To our surprise we were told that Signora Giselle will wait for us at the station. She was there when we arrived. She is young, with an open friendly face, and most of all, very warm and humane. It was clear from the beginning that she is very serious and passionate about her business. In her car we reached the house situated in the top of one of Agrigento’s hills. The interior was recently modified and modernized to fit the needs of all categories of guests from singles to families with children. Some old items, chosen with taste and left as decoration have the quality of suggesting the old Sicily’s quality of life. The place has charm and personality. Our room was large, air conditioned, with a comfortable bed and a nice TV set. The bathroom was spacious and equipped with the most modern fixtures. . Oriented toward the Valley of the Temples the room has a large terrace with a view toward the Valley of the temples. We were offered refreshments and coffee (a dynamite Espresso) and efficiently helped to get to the Archaeological area. Next morning, we were surprised to be served, an unadvertised, rich Continental breakfast. In top of the various delicacies that could satisfy a gourmand as well as a gourmet, I remember two fresh tarts made by a local backer (one of pistachio and one of apples) that my wife had to agree, were the best we ever tasted. This was another example of a place where short cuts and cheap solutions are avoided. In many ways, the personal attention and care for details of our host surpassed all the similar experiences we had in our quite extensive travels in Italy. I think the way Signora Giselle directs her business at Kerkent B&B is exceptional.

The room for 4 was very spacious and the bathroom as well. The staff was really nice and helpful, he gave us recommendations on how to get to the Valley of the Temples and places to go eat. It was hard finding the hotel since it's uphill and the roads are a little bit narrow but once you get there it's ok.
