Bortolo 1 is a clean, convenient, practical apartment in a very good location. It is not luxurious or pretty, but it is easy to find and close to the waterbus stop at Rialto, and only 5 mins walk to San Marco. Also it really does look out over a canal, so be ready for canal traffic, especially first thing in the morning, and the inane chattering of Gondoliers in the evening. An internet point is downstairs, there's a good supermarket a couple of mins away, and there is a lift! A good Venice experience, marred only by the contact phone being switched to FAX on the Sunday we arrived! Don't do that!

The doorbell did not work and there was no telephone or cell phone in the apartment. Also the exact address of the property was incorrect and incomplete. "Bortolo 1" is only a nickname the company uses. This made it difficult to recover luggage lost by the airline, and we had to return to the airport to retrieve it.

Absolutely fantastic. Staying in an apartment in Venice is definitely the way to go - beats a hotel anytime. Donnatella was incredibly friendly and helpful, gave me lots of good information, and then left us alone. The apartment was great with a king bed in a bedroom, 1 bathroom with tub (sit down to shower), an entryway with a cot, a nice living room with a foldout sofa, and a kitchen which came with coffee/cafe makers, espresso, utensils, dishes, dishwasher, the works. The location couldn't have been better. Bottom line: if you've got 3 or 4 people and are looking to stay in Venice for a couple of nights, this is definitely the way to go. I loved every minute of it!

By car
The complex is easily reachable from the highway; follow the indications for Venezia Centro. Take the vaporetto number 82 from Piazzale Roma. Get off at the Ponte Rialto stop.

By train
The apartment is about 10 minutes by vaporetto number 82, stop Ponte Rialto, from Venice railway station.

By airplane
Venice airport is about 30 minutes by bus from Piazzale Roma. Take vaporetto number 82 from there and get off at Ponte Rialto.

METHODS OF PAYMENT
Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. It is not possible to cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a room indicated as "PREPAID/NOT REFUNDABLE". In this case, the total amount of your stay will be charged to your credit card by the hotel at the time of booking.

CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
Check-in: the apartment is available from 2 p.m. It is necessary to arrive not later than 10.30 p.m. Later arrivals are to be communicated.
Check-out: it is necessary to leave the apartment not later than noon.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Payment is due upon arrival.In case of cancellation you will be charged as follows:from 30 to 16 days prior to arrival: 20% of the total amount; from 15 to 7 days prior to arrival: 60% of the total amount; from 6 to 1 day prior to arrival: 80% of the total amount; no show: 100% of the stay.You are requested to call at least 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL, to fix an appointment for key collection. In case you fail to do it YOU WILL BE CHARGED €100.00 and you have to wait for the first host
You may cancel your reservation without penalty up until 30 days before your arrival date, by accessing the Your Reservations page. It is not possible to cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a room indicated as "PREPAID/NOT REFUNDABLE".
