Hotel Reviews La Piazza del Palio

Our two person apt was great! You could not wish for a better location. We had read the various reviews before we booked and knew that noise might be a problem as the apt. was not airconditioned and it is located right on Piazza del Palio. The fact that the noise is all voices, not cars, made it very tolerable. I think a bigger issue is that the place could have been cleaner. It looked like it hadn't been dusted in awhile. Overall, however, it was well equipped and everything worked.

While my wife and I took the two person apt. next door, with a view of Piazza del palio, our children took the 4 person apt. facing the opposite street. As I wrote about the other apt. it could have used a better cleaning and dusting The linens, however, were starched and crisp, and the bathroom was clean. The kitchen in the four person apt was VERY primitive, with little or nothing in the way of cooking equipment. The sink was equipped with a cold water spigot and the fridge was not working. It meant little to us as we had the other apt as well but it would have infuriated me if I were reduced to working with this kitchen during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend this apt, for its location and price and the charming manager, provided that a functioning kitchen is not a travel requirement.

This place is convenience of location over anything else. We stayed in the apartment for 4 people which unfortunately doesn't overlook the Campo but the street behind. Not a problem but I wished I realised this (by reading the website more carefully) before booking it. The owner is a lovely gentleman, and very helpful. It is noisy, so take earplugs. Our apartment was a little dusty and sparsely furnished, but we were'nt in it much anyway. Again, the location is second to none.

This is in a great location, right off the campo. We booked the quad room and it was adequate, but very small. The bathroom was closet-like, and the shower was on the same level as the toilet with no way to stop the water from going onto the bathroom floor (you were given a mop and pail to 'clean up' after each shower). Likewise, there was a small fridge and even smaller sink (too small to even fit a plate in). There were too small burners to make coffee in but you really couldn't cook here. The manager(?owner) is a wonderful man who came and talked iwth us and gave us wonderful information about Siena and himself. We had to pay in cash, whcih was a surprise to us and a bit of a nuisance, since we had to make sevreal trips to the Bancomat to accomplish this! Overall a fun stay for us though!

This property is gorgeous and allowed us to really feel at home in central Siena. We received a warm and informative welcome and had a very comfortable stay in tasteful surroundings. We couldn't stop wandering over to the window to see what was going on the Campo - it was a thrill to be able to look out at dawn when it was empty. It was a bit noisy on the weekend nights during our stay but the main bedroom is double glazed and once the windows are shut it is not too disruptive - anyway it is a price you pay for such a fabulous location.

My wife and I stayed here over New Year's Eve and had an incredible time. This is absolutely the best place to stay for New Year's Eve...best seats in the house for the concert and party. Everything went very well and I would highly recommend the room to anyone.

This is a difficult review because the site of the property is second to none, overlooking the Piazza. However the property itself was dirty, especially flloors and bathrooms. Cooking facilities were limited and the microwave advertised did not exist. We were able to shut out noise but at the cost of a stuffy room. The host was a gentleman and I am sure these constructive comments will be acted upon. Despite the negatives, would recommend subject to some attention described above.

This is the first time we stayed at Apartment La Piazza del Palio. The location is near the bus station and there are lots of shops around the area. The room is clean and the beds are comfortable but the shower is quite hard to adjust to the appropriate temperature. The owner is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend the accommodation to friends.

Location couldn't be better however if you are someone who requires quiet to sleep at night look elsewhere. If it's warm enough to need the windows open you'll have information about how people in Siena spend their evenings and early mornings.

This is a unique location for a stay in Siena. You need to be prepared to share other folks' nightlife: Il Campo is very noisy throughout the enire night.

a unique location overlooking Il Campo. It is inevitably not a quiet location, with bars open late into the night, and early morning cleaning, but if you like people-watching, it is well worth it. Kitchen facilities are limited, but with so many restaurants around....

We booked the 2 person 'Palio' apartment over a busy weekend. It was incredibly loud, as the windows are thin and face onto the very busy piazza (oddly, they also had no curtains). The bed was uncomfortable and the couches were covered in old sheets. The kitchen was ill-equipped, with cutlery in half an old water bottle. For a cheaper price this would be a reasonable place to stay on a less busy weekend, or if you plan to spend your evenings/nights out. We were forced to cut short our stay as we could not sleep.

We enjoyed our stay, but were dissatisfied with a few things. We were only given 2 small towels for our 3 day stay (no kitchen towels/linens), the rooms could have used a deep cleaning, and the shower/bathroom could have used updating. We were very happy with the location and the view over the Piazza. One thing to keep in mind - the Piazza is large gathering area both in the day and long into the night. Bring earplugs if you plan to sleep.

This is beautiful. A trip back in time. One drawback....the shower. It lasts for 1 short shower only. You then must wait 20 minutes for water to reheat. Otherwise........magical!

Adored it; a full sized apart with 2 bedrooms every window opening onto Campo. Perhaps could be very noisy on summer sat night, but our sun night was perfectly fine with windows shut. Owners let us stay till after 3pm next day; Nice furniture, rugs, chaise lounge, very comfortable bed. Shower poor, not enough hot water for even 1 shower, owners need to fix as is the only negative in this superb accomm..;best value we had in Italy; we found a free; legal parking just at santa Caterina gate, walked up hill, found place immed. All superb

Situated right in city centre with view right onto Piazza il Campo. Down side of this was the noise--battled to sleep some nights. Owner very friendly and good source of information, but make sure you make plans in advance as to when to meet him to get the key as no-one will be there if you just arrive. Very small towels. Overall a pleasant stay, though.

Fantastic apartment overlooking Siena's main square - could not be better located! The 2 bedroom Apartment with kitchen, lounge, bathroom and hallway is spacious and nicely decorated in the original styling - beautiful old building. Amazing value for money! A very memorable stay and Dionisio was very helpful with restaurant reommendations etc. Only draw back is car parking is not nearby but Dionisio was able to sort out free parking during our stay.

Incredibly noisy on a Saturday night - people drumming and singing out on Il Campo until about 4am. Sunday night was quiet.

Location was excellent. View from balcony over the Palio was stunning. The building was old and could do with a little TLC.

The apartment is placed in the heart of Siena, which includes both ambience and noise. It is very beautiful as is the view and the museums and restaurants are all around.
