apartment - exterior
The Campane small apartment is situated in the heart of ancient Rome, only minutes from the Pantheon, Piazza Navona and Piazza Venezia and close to many of the city's other major attractions.
The recently renovated property is housed within the Palazzo Caffis building, which dates back to the 1500's. It features a slighly uncomfortable but beautiful characteristic stone staircase, similar to the one found in the Cupola of St Peter's Basilica, which is classified as a national monument and protected by the Cultural Heritage Ministry.

Very good location, between Coliseum and Vaticano. Supermarket in the same building. Excelent room for this price.

We travelled with 2 adults and 2 children (11 & 8) and thought this was excellent value for the price. There is a small supermarket a few doors away selling everything you need inc fresh fruits, meat, cheeses and bread. You can walk to many of attractions from the apartment, and we did not feel unsafe even walking around at night. This is a managed apartment, not a hotel, so don't be put off by the front door when you get there. Great insight into how people live in Rome, because this is an actual residential apartment. We would stay here again.

This is a rathole; The only positive thing is the location near the pantheon and the nice lady that welcomed me. The "apartment" was tiny, had no window and a small cupboard for a kitchen. I would certainly NOT recommend it to anyone.

The place is old, but it's Rome. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator, but no bad of a climb. Stair case is small though, it only fits one person with one piece of luggage. We rented a small apartment , but it has it's own little kitchen (with pots, pans, utensils, fridge) and bathroom. The air conditioning worked. That was all we needed. The supermarket next door opens from 8am to 8:30 pm.

We just returned from our European vacation and we were very happy with the accomodation we have. The location of the hotel is very completely centralized. Although the structure is very old and naive, but the ambieance and its cleanliness that count most. Also the people working in this business are very accomodating ang reliable. They can relate to us ,as to our little demands and questions. They give some useful information for a beginner like us to visit such a beautiful city. We can highly recommend this structure to visitors who wishes to visit Rome

Property is located in very good location for people visiting tourist attractions. You can walk to the most of the spots. Pantheon just a couple blocks away. Very quiet room - unless flat neighbors behave noisily... Forget card payment even that it is mentioned. They will charge extra 5% and you have to provide photocopy of the card from both sides... The flat is on the 2nd floor - NARROW SPIRAL STAIRCASE!! There are three rooms rented separately. My room did not have "real" window, just "tunnel" for light and ventilation. Generally room was quite run down, leaking taps and pipes. Bed was comfortable for me. No kettle in the kitchen to boil water, refrigerator was not defrosted at least 3 years... Supermarket next door to entrance.

it was a bit loud, especially when some american girls came in on the night of our last stay, pissed drunk. also, when we first checked in, it was a bit difficult dealing with the woman, however things got sorted out and was fine in the end.

We are a couple and stayed there for 3 days. It was perfect: location [you can reach everywhere by food], very nice appartment with everything we would need. Very quiet. Staff was very nice too. I would recomend it to anyone! Only the stairs might be a bit tough for not fit people [they weren't for us, though, and they really add a charm!]

The apartment we were given was NOT the apartment shown in the picture, but another one, smaller and without adequate cooking facilities. This said, the location was incredible, right behind the Pantheon, and Mirella, the house-keeper/cleaning lady was outstanding.

My husband and I were first-time visitors to Rome and actually were robbed prior to our checking in and the staff were so very helpful they actually rode the public bus with us to the US Embassy for us to obtain replacement passports. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, compassionate and went out of their way to assist us. We were very satisfied with the staff service! There is a cafe across the street which has excellent food and atmosphere.

The perfect location of the apartment in the city participated to the joy of the trip. The only reserve I would make concerns the bathroom : the hot water for the shower runs quickly short... For the rest : excellent !

This is a perfect location for a single traveller who searches a central and absolutly quiet room. It should be mentioned that the room has only a very small window. The kitchen equipment needs to be chanced.

Great room in the historical center of Rome. We spent 5 days there, everything is very close, we never took public transports !!! People were very welcoming.A bit noisy nethertheless (we could easily hear our the neighbours) and the air conditioning didn't work the last night which is a pity during august

The location is excellent: in the heart of Rome historical center. Walking distance to Vatican or Colosseum. I advise potential guests to talk through the internet about how you will meet the owners of the apartment, because, when we arrived at the place, nobody was there and they did not tell us before that we would need to telephone them upon arrival. Be prepared to speak some Italian, because people that will meet you at the place do not speak english. Fortunatelly, I speak portuguese (which has some similar words) and I could make myself understood. It is difficult to sleep in the mattress located in a small mezzanine, inside the apartment, reachable by wood stairs, since it is too hot up there, so, we decided to sleep three people in the double bed. Taking into consideration price, proximity of supermarket (same building) and location I would recommend for a couple staying at Campane.

The apartment was in an excellent location. Considering how expensive Rome is we felt apartment was a good value. The only major negative was an incredibly small bathroom, but small bathrooms are ubiquitous in EU. We would stay there again.

If the Location was not absolutely perfect this place would be a dump. We have stayed in many countries and cities and know to expect small rooms/bathroom, but this place is pretty small and old. Warm water only lasts about 5-7 minutes so you must turn it off while soaping up and etc. Do not stay here if more then 2 people it will be impossible. Ps. No bathroom door, just a pull across plastic curtain. The only thing, like I said before - location is the best, we didn't use the bus at all, Vatican and Colosseum is 15min walk max. So if you are coming to stay here for 2-4 nights its doable if its more, do yourself a favor and book a different room.

Have been staying for 5 days at this place. Super location for walking to all the arractions of the city - every day new direction starting from the hotel and used public transport 0 times :). Restaurants around are quite well. Room was small by quite, the building is pleasant both inside and outside.

Excellent location, in the middle of Rome, very close to the Argentina bus stop. Next to the apartment building is a nice supermarket which is very convenient. Be prepared for steep stairs which makes getting the luggage to the apartment a challenge but as you are staying in a building a couple of hundred years old it can be forgiven. Kitchen was a bonus for preparing some simple meals. Remember to phone ahead and arrange to receive the key as there is no reception, remember you are staying in an apartment. Overall we were extremely happy with our choice of accommodation. Very well priced for its great location and size.

The bed was not confortable and the bathroom very small. But the apartment is very cheap and very very well located. So I would go back to Campane.

Really nice place to stay, right in the center. The room was quite big, clean, and the people really welcoming. The only negative point you have to know is that you cannot cook for many people, but don't bother, restaurants are great!
Italy, Oct 2007
The location of the hotel is perfect! I like the fact that we had a small kitchen and that the supermercato was next door. But I wouldn't call it a hotel.... our towels didn't get changed during the days of our stay. And the shower was really too small for a person who is from normal length. The tv didn't work properly. The woman of the hotel was very nice! I would recommend it to other people because of the location and the own kitchen.

We stayed 8 daysin Rome,2 of which were at a hotel due to a change in plans. Definitely,we would choose an apartment again even without an elevator. The stairs were quite steep, but as advertised. It was fun and quite an adventure. The only problem was I either did not recall that they wanted cash only or? I had trouble over the weekend extracting that amount from my bank. However, the managers were patient and by Monday it was resolved. Next year I take more cash.
