Firstly, go to Pistoia. It is beautiful and a perfect base from which to explore Tuscany. This is a private apartment in a residential building, not part of a hotel. It is spacious comfortable, stylishly decorated and suited the two of us well. Kitchen fully equipped, bathroom and laundry good. More important though is its location. Literally 50 metres from the Duomo Piazza, the lively Sala Square and dozens of fantastic eateries of various kinds. There are huge clothes markets in the Square on Tuesday and Saturday and a shoe market also. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available every day in Sala Square. Authentic Tuscan experience. This apartment was an ideal spot for exploring the old city as well as being an easy 10 minute walk from the railway station. Our hosts Giovanna and Massimo are lovely people and they provided us with helpful notes about Pistoia and its attractions. We think this apartment would suit anyone but especially Australians like us looking for an alternative to overcrowded Florence(a mere 40 minute train ride) and increasingly popular Lucca. We hope that Pistoia keeps its tranquil (car free)character, at least until we can return for another holiday!

The Suite Duomo is a fantastic apartment in a great location in Pistoia! The pictures on the site do not do justice to how wonderful and spacious the apartment is. In addition, Giovanna provides excellent service in responding to requests and is a very reliable contact in arranging one's stay. I highly recommend that anyone staying in Pistoia stay at the Suite Duomo, as they will not be disappointed.

Take the A11 highway and exit at Pistoia. Then follow the indications for the historical center.
