Americas Best Value Inn & Suites SoMa - San Francisco

The room itself was quite OK, although hotel is quite old and needs a renovation. I was shocked at the very beginning, when on arrival at 1 am the receptionist asked me to pay whole amount for my stay with credit card only (!). I offered him to pay half now and half tomorrow, or to pay all in cash, but he was insisting on credit card payment. When my card didn't go through he agreed to accept cash payment. Then I followed to my room which was quite OK with good spacious bed, iron, cupboard and sink and coffee machine. But because I don't drink coffee I was struggling to get some hot water because there was no kettle. Air conditioning was weird too: without it it was very cold, but when you switch it on, it's too hot. Another nasty surprise was waiting for me in the morning. Expecting to have a breakfast I went downstairs and discovered that the small entrance hall IS the breakfast room. Actually you can't call breakfast plastic-wrapped pastry and coffee/tea. That was it! Next big bad thing was at the end of my stay when I wanted to leave my suitcase for a day, because my flight was in the evening. The answer was that they have no luggage room and I can leave it on my own risk. I didn't risk my luggage and left it at the SF airport - they have such facility. The only plus of this place is the location - only 10 min walk to Civic Center underground muni station. Maybe it's a good value for money a looks ok, but next time I would better pay more but get a normal hotel service.
