The staff were helpful when approached but could be more helpful by telling us all the available transport passes and places of interest on our first day of arrival so that we could plan better. The room when first entered smelled of urine and takes awhile for it to go away after turning on the ceiling fans. Disadvantage is the shared bathroom but fortunately it is not too far and is clean. Another disadvantage is there is no lift, we were put up to the third level, not easy when you have a heavy luggage and tired after a long day out. Good thing is the breakfast and tea - very good quality, I love the waffle and cookies.

Hotel Hollywood Stars Inn on 5435 W Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA. The room was dark because the light inside was poor. The room was very dirty. The sofa was dirty and had been covered with a white bedsheet. One of the bedsides had not been properly cleaned after it got spiled with different liquids. And BEDBUGS! My wife got several bites at her back and leggs. We caught some of the bedbugs and showed to the receptionist who told us he did not know what it was. The Bathroom seemed not been properly cleaned for a long time. Toilet and Bath was OK but the door had dirt and spiled liquid. The shower outlet was loose. We checked out when we found the bedbugs. The receptionist gave refund for the other nights we already had payed in advance.

We stayed only 3 nights. No problems with anything. We had fridge and microwave oven in the room. No elevator though (if you need one). Breakfast is in the lobby, but we didn't go to breakfast at all. Acrosss the street is 99 cents store, so you can buy something for breakfast there. Hollywood attractions (chinese theater...) are located just 2 subway stations further, Universal studios three. Don't bother to go by bus, you can walk if you want to see the surroundings. All in all, satisfactory. Employees are helpfull. Comparing this to motel in S.F. we stayed later, this one wins.

Very misleading website versus what you get. Staff unfriendly, unhelpful, lazy. receivd smoking room first night and told there is no guarantee of nonsmoking-nowhere is that indicated on the website-we booked a non-smoking room. room was filthy.

The hotel staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. This facility works well for those on a budget who are not too concerned with bells and whistles. Reasonably clean rooms, decent location, interesting (i.e., funky) neighborhood with basic amenities nearby. Not too safe to walk around in alone at night, but not too dangerous, either.

Location of the hotel is good just 10 min to Hollywood blvd and metro station. Good quality vs price motel.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by the comfortable room and excellent service we received in this motel. For value for money and practical location this beats the Dunes which were our usual motel on Sunset.
