I was satisfied with the service except the noise from air-conditioner (coming probably from other rooms) and slightly also by uneasy channel selection after switch on the TV. The hotel has an excellent position near the railway station, good access to public transport and it is not far from the lake. Free Geneva transport card was acknowledged. This was my first stay in this hotel.

I have been to Geneva appr. twice a year over the last 20 years, and mostly stayed at Hotel Astoria. Rooms are clean although not big, breakfast ok (buffet style). If you are for a quiet room, ask for a room to the rear ("to the yard"). Although not cheap, given the overall price level in Geneva the ratio between price and quality/service is ok. Conveniently situated opposite Geneva main station.

I was FORCED to pay CHF12 for a telephone call that I've never made. The receptionist said it was for 3 minutes but the fact was line was busy so I hanged up. Plus, with the time of the phone call, I haven't reached my room yet. How can I make a 3 min phone call then? I told the guy at FD but he insisted to let me pay. I found this the worst hotel stay experience ever amoung the world. I will continue writing to cosumer's committy until they refund the money to me. It's not about money but about sincerity and flexibility of service. A mature FD agent could not make a dicision to waive a phone call charge even when guest was being honest??? Unbelievable. Cost of labor it high in CH but hotel management should not lower down their hiring standards which will directly effect service level and future business.

The employees aren't very friendly, but if you don't care, it's a good hotel. It's located very near the main train station and reachable perfectly by public transportation services. If you close the windows, it's very quite and possible to sleep well. The room was small and also the bed, but if you stay only to sleep, it's no problem at all. It was clean and a big plus was the free public transportation card to travel around in Geneva.

The hotel location is very good, close to many place(just walking distance). Even though, its just in front of the central station and bus station, the room was not noisy!

Overall a good hotel, worth the money. The best hotel we had in 10 years coming to Geneva. Some smaller critics: - breakfast room (cool location: Britannia Pub) was too small on a saturday, we nearly found no place to sit at 9 o'clock. And the buffet was empty all the time, even the staff worked like hell to get it completed all the time! - the shower in our room is not for tall people, and you have to hold the shower head in your hands because you cannot hang it up pointing in downwards direction! goes only to the left or right! But the hotel is in perfect location for all excursions to the city and we found also a good parking place right behind hotel on a small place - no tickets there! Very nice!

Just next to the main train station, tram and bus stop. a very lively location with plenty of activity around. 10 - 15 minutes walk to most sites you should see in Geneva.

I went there for a weekend trip, just sight seeing. The room was tiny, little and small. And thanks to the Irish pub, also a kind of noisy. The breakfast was okay. The fees for internet access were outrageous. The hotel is completely over charging its guests. I have no idea where this hotel got its Best Western status from. I have reported to Best Western to remove this hotel from their hotel members list.

The room was very small, carpet on the floor dirty and the shower in poor condition. Air in the room dusty and no provision of tovels the second day of stay. The reception did not provide correct information on local transportation...and not even a coffe for the early departure.

Hotel Astoria is just in front of Central Station of Geneva. It was very easy to take public transports or to visit city center. All hotel employees were so kind and friendly. Only the thing was that it was a bit noisy because so much traffics were just in front of the hotel. But I highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

Good service, nice personal, a good 3-Star hotel. It has a very good location, you can reach everything easily through the bus and tram connections or you can walk to the river. The rooms are a bit noisy and the aircondition does not work perfectly.

Ideal situation arriving from the airport by train & for strolling around Geneva with easy access to the lake, the old town & many tea rooms & restaurants. Free travel tickets were provided by the hotel & this was useful for local tram trips to the city limits with interesting walks back. Enjoyed the Jet d'eau!Made good use of the Britannia Inn later on!

I stayed in a small but adequate single room for four nights. There was a toilet/sink area and a shower area, both with modern fixtures. There was a single bed, a desk and TV, plus a very small closet/nook. There was no room for a dresser, which was a little disappointing since I had to live out of the suitcase for four days. The room had a thick window, and I never heard one sound from the street or adjoining rooms. A little hallway noise spilled in on Saturday night. Overall I enjoyed the room. Staff was friendly and spoke excellent English. Lift was good, and the lobby had some comfy chairs and a TV. Also in a nook in the lobby was a computer with free internet access. This was not terribly busy most of the time and was more than adequate for looking up addresses and such. I also did some more lengthy web browsing, for which I paid 1 CHF per 10 minutes at an internet cafe nearby. Breakfast in the affiliated pub was adequate for a continental breakfast, and breakfast hours were generous. The hotel is very close to the station, though not exactly in the location pictured on the map on this site. It is across the street and to the right as you exit the train station. Overall, the location is excellent and felt very safe to me. Many restaurants are nearby. It's close to the red-light district, but not in it. Walking across the river into the old city and other areas with museums was very easy and quick. One weird thing that happened was that after I made the reservation on this site (venere), I later called the Best Western 800 number in the states, and they had no record of my reservation. I emailed the Astoria directly, and they confirmed that I was indeed registered. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the Astoria, and would gladly stay there again.

Location was excellent for rail-train & bus connection . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Road noise was constant and no air conditioning meant window open all night plus tram line repairs all one night with oxy welder was very annoying with all the flashes. No language problems and Swiss franc nearly same as $AUD
